Very interesting coming of age novel. With quasi ties to the mob and classic boarding school schemes.

Dani Capello is a bright young woman with anger issues. Orphaned in her adolescence she lives with her extended family in New Jersey until one last mishap sends her off to a prestigious preparatory school.

I enjoyed reading Dani find her way in this new environment. Sometimes frustrated in her inability to communicate with the people around her. But that’s to be expected from angsty teens who have abandonment issues and a family dabbling in organized crime.

Excited to read the next installment of this dark YA tale.

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I thought I would.

A fearless and quick-witted sixteen-year-old, Dani Capello is no stranger to trouble. But when she crosses the wrong person in her family's criminal circle, she finds herself attending a prestigious Catholic boarding school, far from the comforts of home. There, she meets a group of friends who show her the ins and outs of fitting in and living life to the fullest. However, as her relationship with one of them deepens, Dani is forced to confront the dangerous reality of her family's criminal activity and find the courage to make choices that align with her own moral code. Highly Recommended!

I would like to thank BookBuzz and Netgalley for providing me with an arc of this book in return for an honest view.

Disclaimer this review is just my opinion.

Dani Capello's family is involved in criminal activity and is apart of a mob so it isn't so surprisingly that in the book she finds herself getting into trouble. Admittedly this is a very typical YA novel. Well minus maybe the family being in a mob. I wouldn't say that the book had many twists or parts that took me by surprise. But I really liked Dani as a character and may have related to her. Being a teen is hard and has many obstacles. I rather enjoyed following her journey and Emma,
Madeline and Whitney definitely helped her along the way to discovering herself.

Dani Capello is a teenage girl with a wild streak and a family with ties to the mob. After a run-in with a high-ranking member, Dani is sent to a strict Catholic boarding school where she finds solace in her newfound friends and the exciting new opportunities and challenges that come with being away from home. But as she falls deeply in love with one of her friends, Dani is faced with the dangerous reality of her family's criminal dealings and must confront the cost of her own independence. Great Read!
