I received a free copy from NetGalley. Interesting idea for how to not be lonely, I don't want to give anything away. Quick read. Characters and story line grabs you and keeps you reading. Nice little romance, and I usually don't like romance.

The Story Guy was a light and easy but slightly unbelievable story that was a quick read. Read in 2013.

The Story Guy by Mary Ann Rivers was a very interesting novella. Considering it’s length, I can’t say too much without giving it all away. Nonetheless, it’s about a bored librarian named Carrie who impulsively answers a personal ad by Brian to meet every Wednesday at noon and kiss for an hour. Seems simple enough, right?

Of course, Carrie quickly realizes that she wants to do more than just kiss Brian. Their sexual attraction can’t be denied. Unfortunately, Brian’s long suffering family situation doesn’t allow him much room to do anything other than his hour of kissing. The more that Carrie learns about Brian’s situation, the more she wants to help him but that’s easier said than done. He doesn’t think that he deserves to be happy. Albeit, he really wants to be with Carrie too.

I did enjoy that The Story Guy offered a different type of romance but I have to admit that it is very far-fetched. The speed at which these two become smitten with each other under the circumstances is crazy. The sizzle between the sheets is noteworthy and they have some phone sex that you should have to pay by the hour to witness. On the other hand, I found it hard to believe that Brian hadn’t made any attempt to take control of his life until now. He was much too young to have given up even if Carrie awakened something in him. Maybe, it would have been more believable if things hadn’t happened so fast.
