Overall I enjoyed this political thriller. The action starts quickly and does not stop. Nick is a private eye in Los Angeles battling a group determined to kill him and take over the government. Nick is just as determined to stop them. I liked the characters and there were a few twists and turns. The story kept me turning the pages. It was a good exciting thriller. I look for word to reading more by this author.

This was a bit of a slow start for me but after about the first 50 pages, I did get into it. I enjoyed the descriptions of the craziness of the “MASA” rallies….,very interesting parallels
I found the part about the prison infiltration interesting as well. Overall, I give it a solid 4

Twenty-Seven Days is a taut and topical political thriller narrated in laconic noir fashion by veteran LA PI Nick Crane. In the spring of 2019, Nick is on the run in the Pacific Northwest, pursued by a cabal of wealthy right-wing power brokers and domestic terrorists (the Principals) led by Marguerite Ferguson and Desmond Cole. Nick has clashed with Marguerite and her crew in the past, and she wants him abducted so that she can personally “close his eyes forever.”
Things get worse. Nick’s close friend and business partner Bobby Moore is kidnapped by Marguerite and the Principals. Nick is then informed that he has 27 days to surrender to Marguerite. If he does not turn himself in, Bobby will be sent to Scorpion prison in Egypt to be tortured and murdered. If Nick surrenders, however, Bobby will be released.
Help appears in the form of a young, idealistic female FBI agent named Carrie North who wants to arrest Marguerite for conspiring to commit domestic terrorist operations against the United States. Nick and Carrie join forces and the race against time to rescue Bobby Moore begins.
And what a race it is! Marguerite and company are the toughest foes Nick has ever faced and he must dig down deeper than ever before to have any chance of surviving.

Had to finish this book as soon as I started it. Did not disappoint at all.

Nick Crane, a private investigator from Los Angeles, is hiding in the rural northwest after an extensive years long history with a cabal of right wing extremists. Currently safe in Oregon, a brick with a note tied to it is thrown through a window into his home. The note informs him that he will be attacked in five minutes. A man named Mars is nearby to rescue him. Crane escapes, meets up with Mars and thus begins this action packed thriller.

The villians in this tale are a group of aristocratic right wing extremists, known as The Principals, who are using their money and influence to implement a variety of radical right wing policy. These policies include the mass imprisonment of a large number of Latino immigrants and Muslims, who are to be housed in private prisons that The Principles are set to profit from.

An excellent fast paced story. Highly recommended!
