This was an interesting family drama story. The family is gathered together in one house for a few days as they prepare for a family member’s wedding. Of course being in such close proximity causes drama and the unveiling of secrets. Overall this was a fun read!

The (Un)Romantic Comedy felt like a Hallmark movie! Which I happen to love. The main story line was focused on Poppy’s relationship with her various family members. I enjoyed seeing the relationships bloom. The ending was sweet, but I wanted to see Poppy with Sam more in the book, I never connected with Poppy’s love interest or felt invested in their relationship. I feel like if there was more of them in the book it would have been easier to connect and invest in them.

Not the first Phoebe MacLeod book I’ve read and likely not the last!

This book is so light and cute. Just what I was expecting when I picked it up. Like the other stories I’ve read by the author it features a quirky and relatable heroine and a very swoon-worthy love interest. I loved the awkwardness of the family setting, the discomfort around Poppy’s job really gave me the giggles at times. It was wonderful seeing her be so unabashed about her life and choices. In a similar vein there’s also plenty of other uncomfortable introductions and interactions. I honestly cannot overstate how feel good this romance was,

This was definitely what I was in the mood for. I’ll definitely keep looking out for more from MacLeod. Always such cute stories!!

I really enjoyed this book. It was lighthearted and the story moved along nicely. I had a good laugh about Poppy’s mum misunderstanding what her job as a sex therapist entailed.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for an advance copy of this book.

Poppy is a sex therapist and this causes great embarrassment to her mother. Normally Poppy avoids her family like the plague. But her younger sister is about to get married so the whole family is spending the week together in Cornwall ahead of the wedding. Poppy is under strict instruction not to embarrass them in front of the groom's family. But this was never going to happen. Especially when her family needs her advice, now more than ever.

This was a great read. Dealing with everything from women's sexuality to cyber bullying, I really enjoyed it.

Honestly I was disappointed in this book. I loved the storyline. The main characters’s job as a s*x therapist was fascinating. I loved the realistic family dynamic, especially as they all came together for the sisters wedding.

This book takes place in a coastal town which kind of makes you feel like you’re on vacation and it should’ve been a phenomenal read, I just could not stand the main character. She was judgmental towards the people around her and even dumb things in her environment like the food. I thought it was to build up a character, and then we would see growth during the book, but she was still being just as judgmental in the last time pages as she was in the first time pages.

I’m just not sure how telling me that the eggs at the breakfast were a little over done really enhanced anything in the story and it really just continue to make me annoyed with the character which took away from the total storyline. Don’t waste your time.

An Un Romantic Comedy by Phoebe MacLeod was such a fun read! If you like a fun romance with a lot of flirting and light feel, then this is the book for you. Poppy is such a sweetheart even given her family dynamics and her being the black sheep. I love how Poppy is a sex therapist so the conversations you read about are great! Overall a good read and I look forward to more from this author.

Fun, flirty and sparkling, An Un Romantic Comedy is the delightful new novel by Phoebe MacLeod.

Therapist Poppy does not exactly have the best relationship with her family. To call them difficult would be the understatement of the century! In fact, they are such a bloody nightmare that the best way to deal with them Phoebe has found is to put lots and lots and lots of miles between them. Poppy has done a pretty decent job of putting some distance between her and her family, but with her sister about to get married there is simply no avoiding a week-long family holiday in Cornwall! Poppy is not exactly looking forward to this Cornish getaway, but she can cope with seven days away with her family – can’t she?

Poppy has low expectations about this trip. After all, her parents have made their disapproval about her choice of career quite clear and she has never seen eye-to-eye with her siblings. Still, even she never expected how catastrophic this holiday was going to be – or that her entire family was going to need her professional skills in order to get through this trip unscathed. Poppy cannot wait for this nightmare holiday from hell to be over, but could a sexy surfer give her a reason to stick around – not to mention lead to a love that could last a lifetime?

Fans of Emily Henry and Portia Macintosh are going to love An Un Romantic Comedy by Phoebe Macleod. An uproarious, uplifting and hugely entertaining romantic charmer it is absolutely impossible to resist, An Un Romantic Comedy is packed with characters who will make you chortle with laughter and plenty of mischief, sauciness and tender romance to keep you riveted to the page from beginning to end.

This is the story of Poppy and it is told over the course of 32 Chapters. This story is easy to get into and grabs the readers attention from the moment they begin. This story also jumps straight into one of the many funny parts of the book. The book itself is full of funny sections that will keep the reader laughing.
Poppy is the black sheep of her family and it doesn't help when her family don't understand. Add in her younger sisters wedding where Poppy gets to spend a week in Cornwall with said family while also meeting the grooms family. However as the reader delves deeper into this book they discover that even though her family don't understand her. Poppy's family need her more than they think.
When you look at the characters within this book you get to see that they are flawed and complex characters but one of my favourite things is that the woman have something in common. They are all strong and independent which is great to see in a book.
Overall this book will leave readers laughing and enjoying every moment they spend reading.

My Review: I found this book not only funny but interesting too, all the different family dynamics, the judgement and or openness towards Poppy's job as a sex therapist had me in stitches. Poppy and her family come together for her younger sisters wedding to Dan. They spend the week in a house rented by Poppy's parents. What could go wrong with so many adults and youngsters under one roof? Loved it, I read the book in one sitting. Ah, I can't forget to mention the gorgeous Sam who catches Poppy's Eye and offers her surfing lessons. a definite 5 star read. Apologies for being so late with my blog.

A sister's wedding - should be fun -
But not if you're the family's odd one.
Poppy is a therapist but her family don't understand
And picking on her can get out of hand.

She's definitely not looking forward to
A week with her family with wedding things to do.
They're off to Cornwall she's full of dread,
Expecting an unromantic time it must be said!

What she hadn't anticipated was the family members' needs
For their own doses of her therapies!
Nor did she expect to learn to surf, too -
And meeting an attractive father was not on her list to do!

What a fun read, full of surprises and laughter
A week before the wedding - will it be a disaster?
Meeting potential in-laws and a matchmaking daughter
Maybe she' enjoy this week much more than she ought to!

I thoroughly enjoyed laughing my way through this book
And hope you'll read it to once you give it a loo.
For my complementary copy, I say thank you,
As I share with you this, my honest review.

An Un Romantic Comedy by Phoebe MacLead is a romance book but not too humorous in my opinion.

What really stood out for me was our main heroine's job which lead to few very important discussions about things related to sex. And while I sincerely appreciated that fact that someone addressed those issues I must admit that they sounded s bit like short lectures and took away from the romance and the comedy of the book.

I didn't find the book very funny. There was some amusing banter, a lot of family drama, and a little bit of romance. I found main heroine's mother completely ridiculous and shameful at times.

I liked most of the characters, especially the main hero and his daughter's relationship was so beautiful and warm in my opinion, but wasn't especially invested in them.

All in all, this is a solid romance book for those who prefer something extra with their romance.

This was a super enjoyable read! It was lighthearted, fun and I sped through it in one sitting so was definitely an easy read. Overall I did have a really fun time with it, the characters were good and it covered some tough subjects (though I feel they weren’t really covered well enough, more skipped through) and I liked the overall positive view on sex. However, it was a little frustrating that the main character ‘fell in love’ with the love interest after sleeping with him once, it’s totally unrealistic in my opinion, the whole ‘relationship’ was also skimmed over pretty quickly. It felt a bit like the book needed to be about 100 pages longer and then it would’ve been amazing!

So I think the title of this book is so fitting! It's full of family drama, a bit of romance, and lots of advice from Poppy and her relationship with her family and job (as a relationship therapist).

This was the first book by Phoebe that I have read and I really enjoyed it and will definitely want to read more of her books!

I really liked how basically the whole story takes place in just one week; the week leading up to Poppy's youngest sister's wedding when the whole family gathers in one house for all sorts of pre-wedding shenanigans. I could feel the dread radiating off Poppy and when we saw how her sisters and mother treated her I completely understood why. A week together in one house could easily be a recipe for disaster! The characters really developed throughout the story and I felt that we really got to know them and care about them as we discover all the dramas each character is going through.. I found Poppy really easy to love and was invested in her story regarding the famiily dynamics and how they were changing and the added side story of a little romance.

Poppy in reluctantly in Cornwall with her family who all seem to disapprove of her career, but as the week progresses she ends up helping them all with their problems. A great read

Thank you to Netgalley, Boldwood Books and Phoebe MacLeod for this ARC!

I really enjoyed this story, very Hallmark-y! I loved Poppy! She’s a sexual and relationships therapist and a bit of an odd one out in her family. I did connect with Poppy in the sense of that I also seam to be my family’s therapist on hand! This is very light-hearted and funny! A very good read!
