Ms. Wilson writes such unique stories, and I loved this sweet rom-com. It was funny and I found myself laughing out loud several times reading the banter.

I loved that Nick, a celebrity, seemed to fall for Jane quickly. Jane, however, has had some heartbreak in her life and just can’t let go of it. She doubts everything Nick says and, for me, that got old after a while. I could understand her hesitancy to trust anyone, especially a celebrity who would be leaving soon, but she was stuck in a rut and I wasn’t sure if she would ever move out of it!

This is a ‘sweet’ romance for those that prefer that type of story. I usually prefer a more involved romance and sexy times, but I didn’t miss them with this delightful story and the great small-town setting. This was a quick read, and I enjoyed every minute. It was just a feel-good story and I was left in a such a happy mood.

When an embezzling scandal hits the small town of Patience, only the town librarian Jane's job is still standing (long story). Her sister-in-law hatches a plan: invite movie star Nick Haddon to come to the town's harvest festival and let the tourist money do the rest. No one thought he'd actually say yes, let alone Jane, who has to promise his publicist that she'll watch over Nick, who has a reputation for drinking and getting into trouble. With Nick staying with Jane at her parents' bed and breakfast, they have plenty of time to get to know one other. The two feel an instant connection, but Nick is wary due to feeling he ruins everything he touches, while Jane is scared of getting hurt again.

This is a cute very slow-burn romance. The slow slow burn felt a bit like reading a Hallmark Christmas movie. Nick is very firmly entrenched in thinking he's a jinx who destroys all he touches. Jane has a sad romantic past, making her scared of getting hurt again, yet she clings to the idea of a long term commitment and needing reassurance. These two take scared to a whole other level.

Nick appeared way too good to be true--wanting to help this tiny town, Jane, and a host of others (and being happy with such a chaste relationship). However, I'm a complete sucker for Hollywood people falling for regular folks, even if they seem perfect! There's always that bit of glamour and dreaminess that comes with such a relationship. Jane was a tad annoying at times, but this is a sweet and funny story. The small town setting is on point and the side characters humorous. It's a bit long and a little jerkily written at times, but cute.

This is my first book by Sariah Wilson, and I look forward to reading more. An enjoyable rom-com with some truly laugh out loud moments. It takes place in small town America, and I really enjoyed the small town antics when merged with Big Hollywood feels. Nick and Jane are really very different people, or so we think, but in the end, we realize that Nick just wants to be loved for the man he truly is and not the man that America sees and gossips about. I loved that the citizens of Patience (minus the birch lol) tried to protect him and treat him as one of their own.

This book was a lesson in patience. From the start the attraction is there, but Jane is completely clueless to Nick's flirting for two thirds of the book. When their romance finally seems to heat up, then he backs off to hand holding and taking it slow. Glacially. Slooow.

A light and entertaining story with some LOL moments and a cast of quirky characters. There's fun, there's an interesting setting and plot but the romance was too fast.

This was a fun read, but could've been stronger. I feel like the famous vs. non famous dating trope has been done pretty frequently recently, and while enjoyable this one wasn't the best one I have read. But, I look forward to future books by Sariah!

The Hollywood Jinx is a small town romance.

I have loved this author's last few books so I was very excited to read this new release.

The story takes place in small town Ohio. The narrator is 22 year old Jane. She is her town's temporary librarian. But she ultimately would love to be a film score composer. I loved that she could compose music. However, I had no idea that she was only 22. It's only mentioned part way through the book. And honestly I was shocked. She seemed so much older and more mature that I think that her age should have been mentioned right away.

Gretchen is Jane's sister-in-law/childhood best friend. She invites movie star Nick Haddon to the town’s harvest festival to try to save the town. I loved Gretchen and how nosy she was. She was a wonderful supporting character.

The beginning started slowly for me. I don't love small town romances. And the premise didn't seem overly exciting. However I was very hopeful that this amazing author could make me like this book and care about these characters. And she did!

This is a super cute romance that I ended up really enjoying. The romance was so sweet and the story was so fun!

I don’t usually get this cross about a book - especially not when I've been lucky enough to get an advance copy - but this made me so cross. I finished it purely to see whether my suspicions were right (they were). I read a lot of romances - and I’ve read a lot of movie star & normal person romances this year (which is why I requested it from NetGalley because so many of them have been so much fun and so good) and this is my least favourite. I have reasons but hey are spoiler-y so as i can't have spoiler tags here, I'm going to leave it as I could be overthinking it, but I think that the subliminal messages books send are important and I didn't like the ones that this book was giving.

Temporary small town librarian Jane is in town helping her hometown and family while the town reels from a corrupt mayor... and their big hope to set them on the path to recovery is a local festival. A chance phone call brings a former TV star from a celebrity family into the picture and tests what Jane has planned.

This was a fun, easy read - if you're looking for something with a little bit of drama, small town characters, and not that bumpy. A summer mental escape!

This was such a sweet and adorable small town romance.
I liked the banter between our main characters and how the town was also a character in the story.
I feel this is the perfect beach read, quick, sweet, and fun.

Nick and Jane’s story had just the right kind of happily ever after that I love. Getting there, however, was a bit of a chore. The chemistry between the two was a bit sluggish and I had a tough time with their hot/cold interactions. I did find Jane’s reactions to Nick’s shirtless form hilarious. She’s sassy and funny. This book is full of love-able (and hate-able) characters.

When superstar Nick heads to the small town of Patience, Jane is given the task of supervising him while also utilising his presence to promote their town fair. Nick has not had anything go his way during his last few roles and he believes he may be jinxed so he tries to stay out of Jane's way, in case he manages to ruin things for her and the festival. Cue the romance but not being able to be together.

Sariah Wilson's books always leave me happy and with a smile on my face. There were many parts of the story I enjoyed, however I did find this one a little long and drawn out. If you enjoy a slow burn romance, then you'll love this one. I didn't have the patience and just wanted them to get together already!!! I love the celebrity romance trope and Nick seemed to be a sweetheart underneath his actor persona. I can't wait to see what the author writes next - I'll read anything she puts pen to!

This is a single POV, sweet, light rom-com set in small town Patience, Ohio. The town is in a financial crisis after city funds were embezzled. Jane, the town librarian sets out to draw attention to the town’s festival by inviting Nick, a Hollywood legend to attend the festival. The hope is to sell enough tickets to re-open the town’s government. Nick agrees to come as he is doing his own image rehab.

Nick is the good looking son of two Hollywood legends. It appears he has had a perfect life of privilege but as is the case in Hollywood, things aren’t always as they appear. His childhood was less than ideal and his career has stalled. Nick now sees himself as a jinx as everything he’s done since his famous tv show ended has been a disaster. Nick is sweet and caring and working really hard on changing some of his negative, impulsive behaviors.

Jane is back home after her father became ill. She’s acting as the town librarian for her mother and helping her family get their Bed & Breakfast running. But Jane is a composer and has dreams of composing for films. Jane suffers from a lot of self doubt & fear which leads to her to be essentially hiding in Patience. Jane is also the queen of denial and struggles to see things that are right in front of her.

When Nick and Jane meet they’re immediately drawn to each other, their chemistry sizzled. But Jane had to confront some of her fears before she’d let Nick inside her walls. As a result of this there was a lot of back and forth and self doubt. As the story plays on, Nick and Jane really take the time to get to know one another. Their story is a very slow burn that didn’t ignite until 90% into the book. And once Jane finally lets Nick in he pulls away.

I would’ve loved to have Nick’s POV in a few chapters. And the jinx part of the story line wasn’t addressed in depth considering it’s part of the title. I think if we had Nick’s POV that could’ve been explored a bit better. Overall, I really enjoyed the story; it was a fun, light read. Nick and Jane’s dialogue was enjoyable to read and it was easy to see how they fell for each other. Jane’s best friend and sister-in-law was a crazy side character that was good for a few laughs.

The chemistry between Jane and Nick is heated but Jane is so scared, which made me want to shake her!
Nick was all in from the beginning.
It’s a cute read with a good ending.

This was an okay book. It took me a while to get into and it was a bit slow in parts. Overall 2.5 ⭐️

This was a sweet romance with plenty of banter between the couple. However, by giving only Jane’s perspective, it tended to feel as if Nick was a bit removed from the story. Whilst I thought this book had plenty of potential, it did tend to be slow paced especially towards the middle of the book. Overall, a good read.
