A one-night stand becomes a nightmare when Kaitlyn realizes her new boss is the man who abruptly kicked her out of his bed.

James loves his daughter more than life itself, and he's willing to endure the embarrassment of being a post-coital grump in order to keep the therapist he hired to help his daughter deal with her agoraphobia.

Mr Grump is a bit of a misnomer. James is rarely grumpy. In fact, he's a pretty fun, reasonable guy until the end when he uncharacteristically flips out on Kaitlyn. There were a few times when Kaitlyn referred to him as grumpy, but it was a reach.

I really enjoyed the interactions with Harper, the little girl. I think the storyline surrounding her was solid and enjoyable. It was the rest of the book that didn't sit well with me. The spicy scenes were well-written, but the relationships were stilted. There were a ton of forced situations that just didn't seem believable due to how they were written. I give this book 2.5 stars for this reason. Harper was the star of the show with this one, as were some of the bedroom scenes. The rest just didn't land right.

I was given an e-ARC of this book for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley and the author for the opportunity!

Kaitlyn meets James at her sister's bachelorette party, and there's an instant attraction. James is a grump and leaves a bad impression on Kaithlyn. Kaitlyn is surprised to find out that James is her new boss. Kaitlyn is responsible for helping James' daughter through her trauma. Lines become blurred, accusations fly, but love wins. I love how the author addresses child trauma.

I absolutely loved this book! It was cute and the story line was one of my favorites I have read in a while. I can't wait to read the next book in the series!

Firstly I really liked both characters Kaitlyn and James.

James and Katie meet one night and get together and enjoy each other’s company until Katie is unceremoniously discarded.

I like that you get both perspectives

Although I felt like it was very predictable, I still enjoyed it! Loved the chemistry and build up

Kaitlyn hates nightclubs but she's the MOH for her sister's wedding and, as much as she doesn't belong in this scene, she can't miss the bachelorette party. Things get even more awkward when a clumsy move drops a whole tray of drinks on her and a VIP guest. When the manager offers to let her change in the penthouse and one thing leads to another, she has another thing to drink to in the Never Have I Ever Game...a one night stand. Things were great until James got a phone call and kicked her out.
When she arrives at her new position as therapist to her client's young daughter, she's shocked to find James will be her new boss. She almost walks right back out the door, but his sweet young daughter desperately needs her help. She can keep things professional, right?!
This was a cute grumpy/sunshine billionaire boss trope, a little predictable but still sweet and steamy. I like how Kaitlyn helped Harper to overcome her fears and won over James by healing his little girl. I'm excited to read the rest of the series.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.

If you want a book with the sweetest HEA then this is one for you. The story follows Kaitlyn who unexpectedly becomes a live in counselor/therapist for a young girl. However, when she gets to the house and realizes the dad is a one night stand that left her feeling miffed. She almost quits. What follows is a beautiful story of family and the challenges that come with them. This book could stand on its own without the spiciness but it definitely added some character of its own.

Thanks NetGalley for the ARC to review this book

I enjoyed this book; however, I just felt like everything was a little too easy. I was also left with wanting more- more of everything.

2.6/5

Thank you Netgalley for an arc!

See, this was a good book, but I just wasn’t that into it. It felt really ‘basic’ at times tbh…

Also, I just didn’t feel connected to the mcs at all. Kaitlyn and James meant nothing to me. Idk…I saw that two of my friends really loved this so maybe I was bitter bc I read this on Valentine’s Day. Again idk..

MR. GRUMP By Leslie North

Kaitlyn is at her sister's bachelorette party at a swanky Miami party. She catches the eye of James Morris, one thing leads to the other and they end up in bed only to be kicked out of it by James at the end. It's her first day at work as a nanny and her boss is none other than the guy who kicked her out.

😊What i liked -

✔ Nanny Romance/Forced Proximity/Single Parent.
✔ I liked how they first met and their instant attraction.
✔ I liked the gradual bond between Kaitlyn and James' daughter.
✔ This book has drama, heartbreaks, a few bumps and then finally HEA.

🤔What could have been better -

✔ Wow Kaitlyn's mom is something special. (not in a good way)
✔ I somehow did not like James' character too much. He as a father was great but as a partner no way jose.
✔ The chemistry after their first meet fell flat for me.

📚Who Should read :

👶Beginners
💝Romance Lovers
👩Nanny Romance Lovers

📈My Rating : 3/5

P.s- I somehow did not get into the book but that doesn't mean it will be the same for you, so do give it a try.

Thank you, Leslie North and Relay Publishing for a copy.

First I want to start off by saying the grovel wasn't nearly enough for what James did. It was barely anything at all. Even if the rest of the boom was perfect that would have ruined it for me. I loved Kaitlyn and Harper's characters, and honestly until he was a huge jerk I did like James. His character seemed nice, and like he cared, at least about Kaitlyn. He was a good dad, but a horrible partner. I feel like even Cassie, like putting pressure on Kaitlyn to forgive wasn't cool. If you're someone who needs a grovel this is not the book for you.

“Sometimes love hurts.”

This was an adorable book. The MMC with his daughter, the FMC and her sister, and just the overall sweetness of family relationships/connections.

Quick summary:
Have you ever had an amazing one night stand that ends terribly, only to find out later that one night stand is your new boss? Probably (or hopefully) not (actually that’s debatable). Well that’s exactly what happen to Kaitlyn Thorn. After falling into bed with an incredibly attractive man at her sister’s bachelorette party, Kaitlyn finds herself in the office of said hot specimen for her job as the new Nanny.

She’s not just a nanny, she’s also there to help James Morris (Mr. One Night Stand) with his daughter who feels unsafe leaving the house due to some past trauma she experienced. James Morris is a single father, club owner and billionaire. He has it all, including trust issues, but he’s dedicated to getting his daughter the help she needs.

So when Kaitlyn walks into his life, he struggles to keep it professional after knowing exactly what she feels like underneath her work attire. Kaitlyn, on the other hand, thinks her new boss is a jerk.

Thoughts:
One of the things I loved, was the common interest between the two, Harper (James’ daughter). I adored the relationship between Harper and Kaitlyn right off the bat. I also liked that James frequently acknowledges that Kaitlyn was great at what she does. The character development was noticeable and it would be hard not to fall for someone that returned the missing joy.

Okay this was really sweet and it did tug at the heart strings, but it wasn’t entirely for me. I thought the enemies to lovers would be a lot stronger, bringing the tension we all desperately needed after that one night stand. It wasn’t a quick love, but the two MCs were far too comfortable with each other from the start to be enemies in the slightest.

I may be reading too many enemies to lovers to see this as one though so I can’t say for certain that that’s were I’m struggling. I think it was the fall out that really had me. James was incredibly rude, AGAIN, and I’m not sure that’s something I could look past. It’s fictional so I’ll let Kaitlyn do her thing. I mean she scored a billionaire and cute little Harper so it’s still a win.

Spice rating: 🌶️🌶️.5
It isn’t as spicy as I thought it’d be but when it is, it’s good. There are a few time skips were you’re just like buuuuut nooooo.

If you like sweet, family type romances this is the one for you.

This is the 1st book in the “Billionaire Bossholes Series”. This is an entertaining read that is a page turner, twists, turns, romance, steamy, great characters with an awesome plot that held me captive. James is a super sexy alpha grumpy billionaire club owner in Miami and single father to his daughter Harper. Kaitlyn is a therapist working on her PhD in Psychology. Kaitlyn and James meet at bachelorette party at his club when Kaitlyn bumps into a waitress with a tray full of drinks that spill on a patron. James is captivated and very much attracted to Kaitlyn. James and Kaitlyn have a sizzling one-night stand. Kaitlyn has landed a job and is excited about being able to use her skills as a therapist. James’ daughter Harper was kidnapped, and he is in need of a live in therapist to help his daughter Harper. Kaitlyn and James meet again when the two come face to face as Kaitlyn is James’ daughter Harper’s therapist. As time moves James, Kaitlyn and Harper are moving right along. It was nice how this story touch on the subject of mental health involving a child. It was nice that James and Kaitlyn were able to have an enjoyable relationship and helping Harper..

I received an ARC via NetGalley and Relay Publishing and I am leaving my review voluntarily.

Mr. Grump by Leslie North has plenty of drama, romance, steam, with a happily ever after ending. I enjoyed the premise of this book as a one night stand turns into your boss is always a fun trope to read. Kaitlyn, our female lead, shows up at James Mason's mansion to start her job as mental health therapist for Mason's daughter. Only to find out he was her one-night stand she had at her sister's bachelorette party. She quickly learns her billionaire boss is a complete jerk. Seeing how their relationship develops makes for a great story! This was a new to me author and I'm looking forward to many additional reads from her!

James was so devoted to his daughter, it was beautiful to watch. He was afraid of letting someone in and be disapointed which is very understandable. Kaitlyn was a woman that just wanted her family together and someone that loved her. This was definitely a decent read for relaxation time. If you are looking for beautifully written tale, that will keep you glued to the pages, whilst taking you through a myriad of emotions, but leave you wanting more, then I suggest you grab a copy of this book and make it your next week day read.

I enjoyed the general premise of this book and I would read this author again.

However, it was quite predictable and a lot of the dialogue between characters was quite cringey. I felt the characters fell in love quite quickly and usually prefer a slower burn than this but overall, it wasn't a bad book.

This was such a fun read! I really fell in love with both Kaitlyn and James and loved seeing them grow and come together as a couple. Kaitlyn was a such a good main character who was not afraid to stand up James or other men in the book it whenever was needed or required. James was the an amazing Billionaire hero, who fights first his attraction and then his love for the main character in such a satisfying way. I cannot remember the last time I read a single dad romance but this one was so cute and I really liked the relationship between James and his daughter Harper. It was completely understandable based on events that happened before the book started why James would be so protective of his daughter but I really liked that she was not a spoiled child because of this. Harper also felt like a small child who is supposed to be around the age of 4. I appreciated that the author did not have her behavior or act in a way that was beyond what would be normal for a 4 year old girl. My biggest complaint and what keeps this book as a 3.5 star read is that the end conflict felt almost rushed. I would have loved to have seen more of the events or conversations that led to the main characters getting back together rather than just being told that something has happened but having no details provided. It almost made the end of the book feel rushed in a way. But overall a fun quick read, with dual POV.

3.5 ⭐️ This book was pretty good! I instantly liked the mental health representation and LOVED Harper. Although likable, I wasn’t in love with either of the main characters. The spice was nice 😉 and I loved the tropes (forced proximity and oops my one night stand is now my boss). I wish more would have been described about how they discussed their relationship with Harper, especially after we got so much detail on the anxiety piece. I don’t love the title…he wasn’t even that grumpy imo…just kind of focused and quick to negativity judge.

This was a hard one for me. The cover, title, and blurb drew me in, but only the cover delivered. The grump and tension promised were practically non-existant. There was no angst and very little difficulty for the two MCs to overcome before they ending conflict.

James and Kaitlyn got along pretty much with no problems. Aside from the reader being told they were romantically interested in each other and the speckled spice here and there, they could have been platonic friends. I didn't feel their developing closeness nor the depth of their feelings. And the conflict - I saw it coming within the first quarter of the book. The whole time I kept wondering why Kaitlyn never mentioned James's supposed neighbor to him. I also didn't feel like James's character learned from his errors in the resolution.

That said, I adored James and Harper's father-daughter relationship. He was obviously a devoted father who cared very much for his little girl as she mentally recovered from a traumatic event. And Katie's role was wonderful in that dynamic. It was wonderful to get such a positive viewpoint on such therapies and the basis of their workings.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the arc. All opinions are my own.

Mr. Grump was an extremely entertaining book to read! I absolutely loved all of the characters, and I can't wait to get my hands on the next book. I absolutely loved how the author threw in twist and turns. Great job, Leslie!
