Another instalment in the borrow a bookshop. This time the bookshop is recovering from a flood that destroyed all its stock. The temporary bookseller joy arrives with her daughter. Her focus is to bring the shop into the future using her tech expertise. She is adamant she won’t be staying in after her time at the bookshop until her daughter befriends Monty the cook at the local village pub. Joy finds her heart softening to both Clove Lore and Monty and has to decide if she continues to run from her past and settle in Clove Lore.

I was so excited to receive a copy of Something New at the Borrow a Bookshop since I'd read and enjoyed the previous book in the series. This follows on where the action left off.

This book would be great for fans of Jenny Colgan. It's written in a very gentle style and deals with the revival of the bookshop in the wake of a destructive flood. The cosy and uplifting tale of a community pulling together was heartwarming as was the exploration of the relationship between a mother and her young daughter.

A fantastic heartwarming story of love, loss, complicated relationships and so much more. I loved the first instalment of this series and was overjoyed when I realised there was more to the borrow a bookshop. A fantastic rainy day read that will leave you wanting more.

I read The Borrow a Bookshop first two books by Kiley Dunbar and loved them, so it’s not surprising to me at all that I loved this too. I fall in love with Kiley’s writing and characters more with each book I love the romance, drama, family, friendships and community you get in her books. Although this is the third book in the series, this can definitely be read as a stand-alone, don’t let that put you off but if you get the chance I’d definitely read the first two because they’re brilliant

Enjoyable. A lovely series.

Another excellent story set in the Cornish village of Clove Lore. The village is recovering from a terrible flood several months ago when Joy and her daughter arrive as the latest temporary residents at the Borrow a Bookshop. Can the village work its magic again and help them find a place where they belong?

What a sweet follow-up in this series! Third in the Borrow a Bookshop series, we find Joy and Radia landing in Clove Lore in the aftermath of the flood, helping to bring the Bookshop back to life with some upgrades. While secretive about her life prior to being the next Bookshop guest, Joy quickly starts to see there are good people out there.... especially with local former fisherman Monty. Along for the fun are all of the Clove Lore favorites and their quirky shenanigans. Though this is a series, each book can be read as a standalone.

I would love to go to a small seaside English village, run a bookstore and Cafe and just immerse myself in small village life. This sounds like such a fun concept and the author always provides a warm, uplifting, sweet tale. I hope there are more in this series in the future!

My thoughts


Once again, we are back to the cozy world of Clove Lore, where you can own a bookshop for two weeks and run it. This very idea was the reason I picked up the e-ARC of the first book in the series, The Borrow a Bookshop Holiday. I missed the second book, but it didn't feel like I missed much. However, I would strongly suggest you go through the first book before reading this one, just so, you would be familiar with the world and the characters in it.




Narrative and Plot



This is my fourth Kiley Dunbar book and I can definitely see the signature in the style of writing. The story is told mostly from Joy's perspective, but we get Monty's point of view when necessary.
The tone of the book in general is wholesome and adorable, particularly when it comes to Radia, so much so that it made me want to read more.

The plot of the book is quite straightforward. Yet, as wholesome and cozy as the premise is, the story explores some difficult topics and executes them brilliantly.



Characters and Conflicts



Joyce is the central character, and honestly, she is a frustrating woman. I understand where she is coming from and what her apprehensions are and how deep-rooted they are. It is an essential and important part of the story. Which is why it is all the more sweeter, when we get to root for her.
Monty, on the other hand, is the kindest and sweetest person you could ever imagine meet. He is not perfect, but he is a shoo-in for those "fictional men who don't exist" category. His budding relationship with Radia was endearing and heartwarming.

Radia is just a darling. It is adorable to see her reaction to the things around her over which she had no control. And she even drops some gems in between like, "No one likes fruit cakes anyway." Or my favorite "Does Auntie Patti cut her own hair?" The one character that irked me was Minty. I am unfamiliar with her character as I missed the second book in the series and she comes off as way too intense. 




The book had several relevant conflicts to explore and it never shied away from them. It went into detail about Joyce's traumatic and toxic relationship, which is the core conflict of the story. Unlike most rom-coms, the story even explores situations where you don't always get closure and that's ok too.
The ensemble cast did a splendid job of creating a cozy community vibe.


Conclusion


I enjoyed this book just like I had expected it to. It is a cozy, comfort read that uplifts your spirit on a weary day. It did exactly that for me.

More enjoyment of familiar characters with some lovely news to invest in. Another delight from Kiley, in the beautiful picturesque setting by the sea, thank you.

I thoroughly enjoyed this fun, easy to read women's fiction/romance book.

Joy Foley and her daughter Radia Pearl arrive in Clove Lore to rent the Borrow-a-Bookshop, and help it recover from the winter flood. Monty Bickleigh helps Joy to settle in, and they get on well together, forming a friendship, and perhaps a bit more.

This is a lovely, uplifting read, and I loved the settings, the characters, and the bookshop, as well as the beautiful cover. This is book 3 in a series, all of which are wonderful, and highly recommended!

This book satisfied my craving for a charming, fresh start romance by the sea! And with a bookshop!
There is no suspense but it’s not predictable either. Just a lovely tale.
I enjoy author Kiley Dunbar’s descriptive writing style. This is my first books of hers and I will check out her others. Especially the others in this series.

I found the premise of the book to be quite cute. I liked the idea of renting or borrowing a book shop for however long you may need it. I think that in itself is a romantic notion. The other thing that I found to be endearing was the the aspect of community within the story, We have the character Joy and her daughter coming into new this start of their life. As the reader, we experience a lot of the new situations alongside them. However, when Joy encounters Monty, it progressed to so much more. Not only was it about community and taking a chance on something new, it was also about that sense of found family. That was quite beautiful.

A fun quirky read. A little romance, mystery, and family drama. Colorful characters blend beautifully in this quaint town. Throw in a little match-making to round out the charm. This book is full of hope, chance and happy endings.

This sweet and comforting novel went down like warm soup on a cold winter evening. It was warm and loving and just what I hoped it would be.

This is the third book in the Borrow a Bookshop series and it introduces another set of borrowers to the reader whilst referring back to previous borrowers and the other resident of Clove Lore. You can read this as a standalone book but it's a really nice series to get into if you can.

Despite this being a romance novel, tough issues are tackled within the story highlighting serious issues that many authors steer clear of. Well done to Kiley Dunbar for bringing up the issue of psychological abuse and control within relationships as she dealt with it very sensitively and it added to my understanding of why Joy was always on the move.

This book was a great addition to the series and I look forward to reading more to come!

I discovered Kiley Dunbar about a year ago and have devoured all of her books very quickly. I was so lucky to get an ARC of this new story and loved every second of the read. Joy and her daughter Radia head to Borrow a bookshop to upgrade the store’s tech and fall in love with more than just the experience of staying in the store. It will definitely make you cry, but it’s also got that warm hug feeling when you are done. Both male and female leads make you want to scream a couple of times, but in general I loved them and their story. The little bits of Radia Pearl’s young perspective give this story a sweet take as well. Kiley has done it again with great writing and a story that makes you want a small town, cozy life!

A cozy book to read on a rainy day by the fire, dreaming of the seaside.
