This is a must for any fan of The Princess Bride! I absolutely love this movie and anything connected to it is an automatic win in my book. This book is full of fun recipes that all tie in to the movie somehow (with hilarious names!), and great pictures to go along with each one. It's such a fun idea and the recipes all seems very easy to follow.

I can't wait to try some of these out and have a movie night with friends!

Ok, so I'm a big fan of this book and movie. So when I saw there was a cookbook, I was so excited. I have not yet made any recipes yet, however I am still in love with this book. The recipe names are so clever and honestly make me so happy. The pictures of the finished recipes look absolutely delicious. I look forward to trying some of these recipes soon. However, I think fans of the book/movie would enjoy this book whether they intend to make the recipes or not!

I haven't made any of the recipes yet, so I'm not judging it on those, but lots of them look fun, tasty, and pretty easy to make. The spirit of the writing, though, captures the spirit of The Princess Bride really well and it was super fun just to read through it with my friend who is also a major fan!

I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I love this movie I used to watch it with my sister all the time when we were much young. It has line and quotes from the movie. I have not tried any of the recipes yet, but some on them looked really amazing in the full color pictures. The recipes seem simple enough to follow. I think the memories were worth the time I took to read and look through this book.

This book made me hungry, and I think that's the whole point. I loved the way the dishes were themed around specific lines, characters, or locations from the film. I need to go grab a copy so I can try some of these amazing sounding recipes.

The Princess Bride is one of my top 5 favorite movies of all time. So I had to check this cookbook out! I cannot wait to have a themed night with this movie and cookbook!!

Big plus is at the back of the book there are vegan and kosher swaps for some of the ingredients!

Also the names of the recipes are so darn cute!

With 50 food and drink recipes, The Unofficial Princess Bride Cookbook is perfect for a movie fan who want to eat delicious food, along with trivia and stories about the movie. The pictures were pretty and fun and I loved the way everything tied into the movie.

Since this movie has been a favorite of my husbands since he was a child it would be inconceivable if I didn’t get a hard cover of this book for our shelf!

I want to thank NetGalley, Cassandra Reeder and Quarto Publishing Group – becker & mayer for this e-ARC. Opinions expressed in this review are honest, my own and left voluntarily.

This book is great for fans of the Princess Bride film. There are a good range of recipes which you can see the link for. A lot of them are easy, like the chocolate covered pill which is basically a recipe for chocolate truffles.
There are a lot of recipes for drinks/cocktails. A lot of them contain Absinthe which is not cheap to buy and I am unlikely to buy a bottle to use in these recipes.
The recipes are easy to follow and come in different measurements so that you don't need to convert them.
This is a fun and entertaining recipe book.

Everyone, it seems, loved the movie, The Princess Bride. Enough, that over the years it has gained a large cult following. Those fans who like to cook will love The Unofficial Princess Bride Cookbook: 50 Delightfully Delicious Recipes for Fans of the Cult Classic by Cassandra Reeder, and will definitely want to cook some of the recipes to enjoy while watching the movie for the umpteenth time.

The first chapter includes beverages, both alcoholic and non-alcoholic, which will probably enhance the viewing of the movie for those who chose to prepare these. Each recipe includes notes as to how the recipe relates to the movie and the characters, and as readers peruse this fun cookbook, they will be reminded of how apropos the recipes are to the time and movie. There are appetizers, breads, soups and stews, main dishes, and desserts, all with a slight British slant. The photographs of almost every recipe are professional and mouthwatering. The recipes are written in the traditional manner with the ingredients listed with succinct instructions, and so are easy-to-follow for both advanced and beginning cooks; every cook will be able to create picture-perfect dishes to celebrate their love of The Princess Bride.

As a bonus, there are menus that would fit perfectly in the timeframe of The Princess Bride at the end of the book.

Anyone who is a fan of The Princess Bride should definitely pick up this fun cookbook.

Special thanks to NetGalley for supplying a review copy of this book.

I received a copy of this book through Netgalley. This is my honest review.

When I saw this book available on Netgalley I got so excited. Which is weird because while I enjoy The Princess Bride, I'm not a super-fan. The lines I can remember from the movie are "As you wish" and "My name is Inigo Montoya. You killed my father. Prepare to die." and the latter I remember more because it's in meme's all over Facebook than from watching the movie. But I also like hosting themed dinners, and The Princess Bride seemed like a great theme, so that's what I did. And this book even makes that easy by offering like four or five dinner party meal plans at the end of the book. Foolish me, I didn't use any of those because as I was going through the cookbook, I found so many recipes I really wanted to try. I ended up having to cut three of them from my plans (an appetizer, an entree, and a dessert so at least it was equal) because I just ran out of time.

The recipes were pretty straight forward and easy to follow, using a lot of fresh ingredients and herbs that I don't often cook with (for instance, I bought fresh sage and rosemary for the first time in my life for this meal). But they were more involved than I remembered from skimming them to plan my meal, which is why I had to cut things from the final meal plan.

Finding the ingredients at the store was relatively simple though. A bit pricey because it uses some bougie ingredients compared to what I normally cook with, mostly the cheeses. Gruyere was heavily featured in the recipes I selected, but it's worth mentioning that once I started shredding it for the recipes, it went further than I anticipated while I was at the store. So if you're like me and don't usually cook with bougie cheeses, just know that those little bricks go pretty far.

The cookbook does include photos for all of the recipes so you can see what the items are supposed to look like. None of mine look quite right, but I think with a little bit of practice on the recipes I could likely get there, because mine were fairly close considering.

I also really enjoyed the trivia and tidbits shared at the beginning of each recipe, explaining what scenes they were connected with. Those helped me picture things a little bit better as I'm not a super-fan who has the movie memorized.

There was only one recipe I made for the party that I didn't really enjoy, and that was more because of texture than anything else, and I intend to play with that recipe some on my own to see if I can't come up with a useable alternative that I find more palatable.

Overall I give this cookbook, 4.74 out of 5 stars and will absolutely be getting myself a copy so I can continue trying out the recipes. And I'll know in the future if I ever want to throw another Princess Bride dinner party (definitely possible) to use the suggested meal plans that are included to make the preparation a little less stressful for myself.

I love the princess bride abd I love baking so this was always going to be a great match for me. I loved the fact it’s full of little puns and full of humour. I also loved the option at the back where it offers alternatives if you’re vegan, vegetarian or need kosher options. Just a very fun and funny cookbook perfect for that princess bride fan in your life or yourself
