Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch
.
Michael is a reclusive duke who is more interested in science than socializing. While dog sitting for his beloved aunt he runs into Elizabeth, who is a diamond in her second season out, while she is walking her dog. The dogs look similar so they get mixed up. Which is a problem when a dog-napper strikes.

I absolutely adored this super cute and funny book that also managed to be a tiny bit suspenseful while still ultimately being a historical romance. If you are looking for a book that can do it all, then let me just tell you how much this book made me happy.
Elizabeth and Michael are a classic opposites attract scenario. Elizabeth loved socializing and going out, while Michael is busy doing science experiments at home. I loved every single interaction between them and how they each came to see the world through the others eyes a little bit.
The dogs were delightful and the dognapping plot was so cleverly thought out and kept me completely glued to this storyline.

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I slept on this book for too long and shame on me, because it was so fantastic. If you need a super cute read, are a fan of flirty banter, and love dogs, then I need you to read this book. The audio is fantastic, find it, put it in your ears, thank me later.

If you’re in the mood for a delightful romp through Regency London filled with wit, charm, and a dash of chaos, Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is the perfect pick. This sparkling romantic comedy offers a fresh take on the classic screwball comedy Bringing Up Baby, reimagined with a Jane Austen flair.
The story introduces us to Michael Bromley, the Duke of Woriton, a brilliant but socially awkward scientist with a passion for chemistry. When his beloved aunt leaves her well-behaved poodle, Lancelot, in his care, Michael’s orderly world is turned upside down. Enter Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering, a vivacious and adored Diamond of the Season, whose mischievous black poodle, Galahad, is the bane of her suitors. A chaotic encounter in Hyde Park leads to an accidental dog swap, setting off a series of events that bring Michael and Bitsy together in the most unexpected and entertaining ways .
Enoch masterfully blends humor and romance, creating a narrative that is both heartwarming and hilarious. The chemistry between Michael and Bitsy is palpable, with their contrasting personalities complementing each other perfectly. As they team up to retrieve their stolen poodles, their growing attraction adds an extra layer of charm to the story.
The secondary characters, including a lovable thief and a meddling staff, add depth and humor to the narrative. The villain, Lord Peter Cordray, is delightfully despicable, providing the perfect foil for our protagonists’ budding romance .

This was a fun read! Michael and Elizabeth's meeting was so cute! And the immediate sparks between them was great. I did love that this was different than most romances because you have a dog kidnapping plot and they work together to get the dogs back. All in all, an entertaining read by a well loved author.

3.5 stars, rounded down.
I thoroughly enjoyed this Regency Romance! It had more comedy than a lot of the Regency Romances I have read and I'm always down for a good rom-com, so that gave this book extra points. I enjoyed the characters, I thought they were relatable (even given the difference in time lines) and felt real.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

This was a fun period piece with romance, a quirky character with a seemingly classic heroine. The twists and turns were hilarious and added to the wonderful ridiculousness of this story.

I wanted to love this quirky regency rom-com with its chaotic dog swap and witty banter, but it didn’t fully land for me. The premise was charming, but the pacing dragged.

This book has been on my Netgalley for a bit and I haven’t picked it up. I haven’t been into romance in a minute, so I’m not the right person to review it anymore.

This was such a cute and surprisingly interesting read!
While I’ve found that many Regency-era romances tend to focus on the same storylines, this has a wonderfully interesting twist. I think this is perfect for romance readers who enjoy historical fiction, as this was a very slow burn romance, and the story does a great job at focusing on the main plot, with the romance coming in second.
Michael and Elizabeth “Bitsy” are two wonderfully written characters, and the opposites attract trope is the perfect story for them. I really enjoyed the chemistry (pun not intended) between them, and how we see them grow as people, then friends, then into romance, as it provides the growth that is needed.
The secondary romance between Jimmy and his love interest was so cute as well, and helped to propel the story in a way that didn’t detract from the main path.
Bonus points for the poodles! I’ve never read a book where dogs take such a pivotal role. Overall, this was one of my favourite reads of the year.
Thank you to NetGalley, St. Martin’s Press, and the author for allowing me to read an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

Thank you to SMP Romance for the review copy.
I absolutely ate up this historical romcom, which centers around a dognapping plot. Don’t worry - the only villain is the person who hired the dognapper - the dogs are in loving hands for the whole book.
I love a good opposites attract where they start out kind of disliking each other. Michael and Elizabeth had similar energy to Mr. Darcy and Elizabeth - he starts out cold, distant, and kind of a jerk - she starts out judgemental. Watching them warm to each other was so fun!
The side characters were as fun to spend time with as the main characters, I rarely read historical romances where we get to spend time with characters who are not part of the aristocracy, and I love when we get that perspective.
If you haven’t tried a historical romance yet, but like opposites-attract contemporary romcoms, I would absolutely give this one a try.

So, I love a Regency romance, and this one is a bit sillier than most (swapped dogs and a dognapping), but it's a quick and fun read.
Many thanks to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for sharing this book with me.

I've long held a soft spot for historical romance; from reading every Jane Austen novel during a single summer when I was a preteen to eagerly awaiting the next season of Bridgerton... I also can appreciate some cute animals and mystery stories. That said - this missed the mark for me.
The author jumps into the story right away. Parts of the dialogue felt somewhat jumbled with how they were mixed into paragraphs. There's a slightly clever insult in an opening scene that the author then felt the need to explain to the reader after, as well as a lot of repetition throughout the book. I didn't feel connected to any of the characters (the dogs held the most charm) and the story seemed to be less romance-focused than advertised (again, the dogs held the most charm). I also didn't feel the chemistry between the leads. For those who are deep into the historical part of historical romances, there also were inaccuracies, but I personally don't read these types of books for that nor do I expect the authors to be historians.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend this one.

I really enjoyed this book. I loved the dogs. It was great to see the character growth of Michael and Elizabeth. Lots of humor in this book. Overall, an entertaining romance. *I recevied an ARC of this book and this is my voluntary and honest review.

Thank you to St Martins Press, Suzanne Enoch and NetGalley for the eARC of EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY. I am a huge fan of regency romance and this one did not disappoint! It had so many elements of intrigue, mystery, love, and even dogs! It was such a sweet, fun and easy read. I highly recommend!

Regency romance for the win! With well-crafted dialogue and a plot that balances humor and emotional depth this is the perfect way to escape modern reality.

Sometimes you need a book that just lets you turn your brain off and enjoy the ride. Every Duke Has His Day was the perfect beach read for me. Stakes were low and no dogs were harmed in the kidnapping caper. I liked the chemistry between Michael and Bitsy and felt like their relationship grew in a natural and believable way. There were several laugh out loud moments and I think the no steamy scenes worked for the vibe of the book.

This was a fun regency rom com, I was immersed into this book from the start and I and the plot is just so entertaining.

Unfortunately, after multiple attempts I have been unable to get into this book. I have come to realize that I do not think historical romance is a genre that I have an easy time getting into. I found this to be hard to follow at time and extremely slow.. Due to that I have decided to soft DNF the book and potentially pick it up at a later date.

This was so incredibly sweet, I loved every minute of it! The romance, the dog hijinks, and even the thief's side story, it was all just a pleasure to read.
Definitely recommend this historical romance if you are a fan of the genre, enjoy a clean romance, and love dogs!

Every Duke Has His Day is a romance story between Michael Blumley, Duke of Loriton and Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering the third daughter of a Viscount. Michael is 28, too old to be looking for a young wife, but he is fine with that. His interests and talents are the science of electricity and how it can be used. His peers view him as eccentric and it has been a long time since he attended any balls or parties. His favourite aunt, Lady Mary Harris is going out of town and leaves her well-behaving black poodle, Lancelot in his care. It forces him to go outside to walk him. While in the park, Lancelot gets mixed up with Galahad, a not so nice poodle belonging to Bitsy. Galahad is badly behaved and considered a demon by many, especially the pompous, lying Peter Cordray, one of Bitsy’s most insistent suitors. When Michael separates the dogs, they each take theirs home. It is a few hours later that Michael realizes that he has Galahad. He heads off to a party to find Bitsy and sort out the mix up. Unfortunately, Cordray has hired a petty thief, who has been stealing and returning dogs for ransom, to steal the Galahad, clearing the way for him to move in and marry Bitsy. Of course, it is Lancelot that gets stolen and in interesting story follows.
Every Duke Has His Day is a fun, humorous romance with great characters and an interesting plot line. I will say right up front, the dogs are not injured or mistreated. Michael needs to get Lancelot back before his aunt returns, so he teams up with Bitsy to interview others whose dogs have disappeared and set up a stake out to observe local butcher shops. One of his methods, to post flyers around the area where they believe the thief is hiding to pay for information or the recovery of Lancelot, results in some humorous interactions. If a poodle and a doodle were the same thing, he would have ended up with a rooster. Michael is smart, honorable, caring, compassionate and underneath might just be a bit of a romantic. Bitsy is wonderful. She is having the most fun ever working with Michael and gradually falling for him. She likes a smart man and one who treats her as more than just a beautiful woman on his arm. Their conversations and banter were fun and enjoyable and I wanted them, not only to get their dogs back, but also fall in love. Even the secondary characters were delightful and Jimmy Bly turns out to be a good guy after all. If you enjoy a fun Regency Romance with great characters, then I recommend you pick up this book.

I loved that this story included dogs - and that the side characters had a good role to play in the story (and that their was closure to their story as well). The story had me smiling in so many parts of it - and has made me curious about the other books in the series. This book can be enjoyed as a standalone.
