Every Duke Has His Day is a delightfully witty historical romance. As a rom-com, there is plenty of fun interactions between our two main characters. Michael Bromley is the Duke of Woriton and is not interested in society, choosing to focus all his attention on his passion for science. Elizabeth (Bitsy) Dockering is the daughter of a Viscount and her attention is highly sought after this season. After Michael is given the job of dog sitting his sisters prized Poodle Lancelot, an unexpected run in with Bitsy and her poodle Galahad occurs. This sets off chain of events that places Michael and Bitsy on a common path to find a dog napper. I enjoyed the element of adventure in the story as Michael reluctantly at first works with Bitsy to track down the dog napper. These two are opposites, but the more time they spend together, it is easy to see that they are right for each other. The story utilized the element of a bad guy in a charming way. It was fun to route for him to get what he deserved.
This story is perfect for regency romantic comedy fan who like a little mystery and adventure thrown in.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the advanced reader copy. This is my honest review.

"Every Duke Has His Day" by Suzanne Enoch

Rating: ★★★☆☆ (3/5 stars)

In "Every Duke Has His Day" by Suzanne Enoch, readers are treated to a sparkling and witty regency romance, where brains meet beauty and love finds its way amidst chaos and canine capers. Drawing inspiration from classic tales like "Bringing Up Baby" and the wit of Jane Austen, Enoch's novel delivers a delightful romantic comedy that will surely appeal to fans of Bridgerton and Pride and Prejudice.

Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton, may not be your typical aristocrat chasing after ladies and indulging in frivolous pastimes. Instead, he immerses himself in the intriguing world of chemistry. While eccentric in his pursuits, Michael is surprisingly adept at navigating the complexities of society, including managing his aunt's impeccably behaved poodle, Lancelot.

Elizabeth "Bitsy" Dockering, a Diamond of the Season, captures the attention of London's elite with her charm and beauty. However, her precious black poodle, Galahad, is a different story. Lovable to Bitsy, Galahad is considered a terror to everyone else, especially her most persistent suitor who resorts to extreme measures to get rid of the dog.

When a chance encounter in the park leads to a mix-up involving lost notes and an accidental dog swap, chaos ensues. Determined to find Lancelot, Michael finds himself reluctantly joined by the spirited and quick-witted Bitsy. As they embark on a quest to recover the missing poodle, chemistry of a different kind begins to spark between them, leading to hilariously romantic results.

Enoch's writing exudes the charm and elegance of the Regency era, creating a vivid backdrop for the comical escapades of the characters. The chemistry between Michael and Bitsy is undoubtedly the highlight of the novel, and their banter is a joy to witness. Readers who revel in the dance of verbal sparring between headstrong leads will find much to enjoy in their dynamic.

While "Every Duke Has His Day" offers an enjoyable romance with entertaining moments, it occasionally falls short in fully exploring the potential of its characters and plot. Some aspects of the story may feel familiar, especially to fans of Austen and similar period romances.

In conclusion, if you're in the mood for a charming and light-hearted regency romance with endearing characters and a mischievous poodle, "Every Duke Has His Day" is a delightful choice. While it may not break new ground, its playful banter and romantic allure make it a good match for those who appreciate the magic of Bridgerton and the wit of Jane Austen

This was my first book by this author, and I can say it definitely will not be my last! It was super cute, and I really enjoyed it!

Michael, the Duke of Woriton, is an eccentric aristocrat obsessed with photovoltaic technology. He prefers to isolate hydrogen in his laboratory rather than interact with high society. Bitsy Dockering is one of the Season's jewels, beloved by the ton and her suitor Sir Peter Cordray. Michael and Bitsy accidentally meet when their poodles Galahad and Lancelot become entangled at Hyde Park. The two take an immediate dislike to one another based on poor first impressions. A case of mistaken dog identity and a mysterious dog-napping force Michael and Bitsy to work together to find the dogs and discover their attraction along the way.

This was a really cute read! It was surprisingly low-angst, even with the dog-napping plot. I loved the neurodiverse representation and it was refreshing to read about Bitsy's supportive parents. This is a low steam book with only two kisses on page, but there was still a decent level of chemistry between Michael and Bitsy. Their witty banter made up for the lack of steam. The side characters made this novel a true gem; Michael's sassy valet and butler bring comedic relief and the dog-nappers are surprisingly wholesome. All-in-all an enjoyable, lighthearted historical!

What a cute Regency Era Romance

Grumpy scientist Duke agrees to take care of his aunts black poodle 🐩 Lancelot while she is away. While walking in the park, a near identical dog gets mixed up his. Elizabeth “Bitsy” accidentally takes home the well behaved Lancelot instead of her grouchy and overprotective poodle Galahad. When Lancelot is stolen from her bedroom, they embark on a journey to find the missing poodle.

I love that these two come together while searching for their pets that have been stolen. I like that while they are different they enjoy each others company. There are humorous moments and funny dialogue.

I would have liked to see a little more of him realizing he loved her. The ending was just like he suddenly realized he missed her instantly asks her to marry him. I did love the epilogue.

Book friends!!!!

I finished EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY in like five hours (yes, I went to bed after midnight, and it was sooooooo worth it), as I could not put it down!!! It checks off all the boxes and more (see my graphic for all the reasons you should read this one too).

In all honesty, I’m not sure about this title 😕, but the characters, the story, the adventure, the slow burn romance between these two is chefs kiss. 💋

EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY is such a fun read that readers will be hooked from the very first page, unable to put this one down, and only want to reach the ending, to have the answer to that burning question: if Elizabeth and Michael will have their happily ever after.

If you love a good regency romance with a quirky scientist who happens to be a Duke and the social butterfly of the Season whose looking for a husband, but can’t make up her mind just yet, grumpy + sunshine trope, AND both of their dogs get stolen, and they team up to try and find them, then add this one to your collection asap.

Make sure to pre-order this one book friends.

Happy Reading ~ Cece

Suzanne Enoch is an author that I admire. I just knew that I would love this one, and I wasn't wrong. I came straight here to give a review after reading. First, Michael is such a lovable character. The science man meets the beautiful diamond of the season was such a fun trope, and the dogs were so cute, I loved Lancelot and Galahad so much. This book was both hilarious and sweet. It was a definite must read.

Enoch did a wonderful job with this little gem. Every Duke Has His Day is a clean, modern day royalty romance. It was a quick summer read. The characters were well developed. I can't say that I had a favorite, but the Dukes eccentricity won me over immediately. He doesn't like people for the most part. He's a grumpy scientist who would rather be in his study experimenting than with others that complement his lifestyle. One day when a dog he is watching crashes into a woman and her dog at a park nearby and that all changes. Michael and Elizabeth are seemingly very different. One is a grump, the other impossibly bubbly and always full of sunshine and optimism.
If you like regency, rom coms, clean romance, or books with dogs, this is a book for you!

4.5 Stars
If you are a rom-com junkie type who also loves Regency-era books or the Bridgerton series then this is one you will want to read. I have to say I was pleasantly surprised by how much I enjoyed this book. I thoroughly enjoyed having the tension of a modern rom-com with two characters who appear to be opposites but are actually quite similar. Suzanne did an excellent job of keeping the characters true to the time period while keeping it fresh and relatable to people today. The banter was great but I just adored Galahad and his antics, he was my absolute favorite. If you love stories that incorporate animals that have a larger than life personality you will probably be team Galahad as well.

Thank you, NetGalley, Suzanne Enoch, and St. Martin's Press for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

Charming regency romance and then add in poodles and you've stolen a lot of hearts! The rom-com is sweet and transports you to a time much different than the one we live in now. It was an easy read and very enjoyable.

Cute and fun! Definitely gave me Bringing Up Baby vibes! And I loved it!
Both MCs opening scenes made me love them. I may be partial to the duke though ;) He’s so grumpy and consumed with science, I can’t help but love him! :D

If you’re a regency romcom lover-read this!
If you’re a dog lover-read this!
So yeah, just read it :D

Adorable meet cute.
Naughty pets.
Pet lovers abound.
Pulls at your heartstrings.
Definite meet cute of a brain and a beauty (who knows she’s meant for more) a charming villain, a guy down on his luck doing bad things to make ends meet and a female moral compass (aren’t we all?)
Slow burn with miscommunication and intellectual romance.
Every duke has its day is great for people who want love and emotional and intellectual romance and not physical romance. I loved that the duke was socially challenged, but incredibly respectful while honest (a bit brutally at times).
I would definitely recommend this book if it falls within your preferences!

Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch was a funny and enjoyable read. I’m always looking for clean romance and this book didn’t disappoint! I had just found and enjoyed Something in the Heir by Suzanne Enoch and so was very excited to read this book. I want to thank NetGalley, Suzanne Enoch, and St Martin’s Press for allowing me to enjoy this book before it is published.

I love this genre of books, and this was one of the first ones I’ve found that centered around pets and I absolutely loved this addition to a story.

This book is not part of a series, which I enjoyed – I do like a series, but I also enjoy just reading a book for the enjoyment of itself, not always wanting to have to wait to continue people’s stories!

Potential Spoilers:

The opening scene reminded me a bit of 101 Dalmatians, but the story was all its own! This was a classic Rom-Com of dog meets dog, boy meets girl. When a mix-up occurs, bringing the two main characters together, the story really takes off. I loved the electricity comparison of Elizabeth (Bitsy, the daughter of a Viscount) & Michael (eccentric Duke) and how even when they don’t appear to be right for each other on the surface, they each bring out the best in each other. I loved to hate Peter and I do wish his being found out at the end would have been harsher! The redemption story of Jimmy was a nice addition. I loved the ending to his story!

Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is a delightful and charming romantic comedy set in Regency London. The story revolves around Michael Bromley, the eccentric Duke of Woriton, and Elizabeth "Bitsy" Dockering, a Diamond of the Season. When their well-behaved poodles, Lancelot and Galahad, are accidentally swapped, Michael and Bitsy find themselves embarking on a chaotic adventure to find the missing dog. As they navigate comical situations and unexpected twists, their initial differences give way to a surprising chemistry and a gradually blossoming romance.

Enoch's novel stands out for its enchanting storytelling and the absence of explicit content, allowing the characters and plot to shine on their own merits. The dual points of view and well-rounded supporting characters provide additional depth to the story. The concept of the dog swap adds excitement and intrigue, keeping readers engaged as Michael and Bitsy search for their furry companions. While some moments may come across as overly silly or cheesy, and the romance occasionally takes a backseat to the dog-centric plot, the book's endearing characters, witty dialogue, and heartwarming tale make it an enjoyable summer read.

My in-depth review will be posted online closer to release date

England - 19th Century

The Duke of Woriton, Michael Bromley, is known in the ton as being a bit eccentric. While he performs the required duties of a duke, his entire world revolves around studying electricity. Rarely seen in public or at social events, Woriton is, however, devoted to his aunt, the Lady Mary. It's thanks to her that Woriton now finds himself having to deal with the public, and a certain young woman. Lady Mary is away and has left her beloved poodle, Lancelot, in Woriton's care. What could go wrong?

Young Elizabeth Dockering, Bitsy to her friends, is the youngest daughter of a viscount. As this is her second Season, Bitsy is enjoying being the belle of each ball, with eligible men flocking to her side. She also enjoys walks with her poodle, Galahad, a dog who is totally devoted to her, but despises everyone else. A chance encounter in the park with the not-so-sociable Duke of Woriton who is walking his aunt's dog, results in a brief, but memorable conflagration. Somehow the two dogs get switched, and each goes home with the wrong person!

Meanwhile, Lord Peter Cordray is in dire need of a rich bride, and Miss Dockering fits that bill. However her vicious dog must be dealt with, so Cordray hires Jimmy Bly from the streets to kidnap Galahad. The only problem is that it's Lancelot who is in Bitsy's room, and now the story gets complicated.

Woriton is known in Society for his blunt talk, and his lack of care for its results. But he is learning to be less blunt and more thoughtful as he and Bitsy work out the dog issue. Never having put much thought into finding a wife, Woriton is suddenly finding himself thinking about the lovely girl with the open and honest approach to life. And Bitsy, now wanting to be called by her full name, feels the need to try and understand the formerly unapproachable duke!

Will there be a happy ending to the dog-napping situation? And will Woriton and Elizabeth discover what are each other's honest traits? A sometimes humorous tale, EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY is a delightful romance with a twist.

A fantastic story filled with suspense, skull duggery, love and happiness. Elizabeth and Michael make a great pair that balance each other out. Loved this book.

Thank you to St. Martins Press and Suzanne Enoch for an advanced copy of this book!

I was really not the intended audience for this book and I knew that going into it, seeing as I am not a huge fan of regency romances. That being said, I did think it was a fun read. I also found it easier to get through than most of the other regency era novels I’ve read.

I really liked both Elizabeth and Michael and I thought their relationship was very sweet. I also thought it was interesting to get things not only from their POV but also from Peter and Jimmy. The only thing that l would really say is that I feel like we lost a bit of the romance build up in the search for the dogs.

This was a fun and charming regency romance. Cute concept with the dogs being swapped and searching for the missing pup. I enjoyed the story overall but it was a little too silly at times which made it feel cheesy. I have read and enjoyed other stories by this author.
