England - 19th Century
The Duke of Woriton, Michael Bromley, is known in the ton as being a bit eccentric. While he performs the required duties of a duke, his entire world revolves around studying electricity. Rarely seen in public or at social events, Woriton is, however, devoted to his aunt, the Lady Mary. It's thanks to her that Woriton now finds himself having to deal with the public, and a certain young woman. Lady Mary is away and has left her beloved poodle, Lancelot, in Woriton's care. What could go wrong?
Young Elizabeth Dockering, Bitsy to her friends, is the youngest daughter of a viscount. As this is her second Season, Bitsy is enjoying being the belle of each ball, with eligible men flocking to her side. She also enjoys walks with her poodle, Galahad, a dog who is totally devoted to her, but despises everyone else. A chance encounter in the park with the not-so-sociable Duke of Woriton who is walking his aunt's dog, results in a brief, but memorable conflagration. Somehow the two dogs get switched, and each goes home with the wrong person!
Meanwhile, Lord Peter Cordray is in dire need of a rich bride, and Miss Dockering fits that bill. However her vicious dog must be dealt with, so Cordray hires Jimmy Bly from the streets to kidnap Galahad. The only problem is that it's Lancelot who is in Bitsy's room, and now the story gets complicated.
Woriton is known in Society for his blunt talk, and his lack of care for its results. But he is learning to be less blunt and more thoughtful as he and Bitsy work out the dog issue. Never having put much thought into finding a wife, Woriton is suddenly finding himself thinking about the lovely girl with the open and honest approach to life. And Bitsy, now wanting to be called by her full name, feels the need to try and understand the formerly unapproachable duke!
Will there be a happy ending to the dog-napping situation? And will Woriton and Elizabeth discover what are each other's honest traits? A sometimes humorous tale, EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY is a delightful romance with a twist.

A fantastic story filled with suspense, skull duggery, love and happiness. Elizabeth and Michael make a great pair that balance each other out. Loved this book.

Thank you to St. Martins Press and Suzanne Enoch for an advanced copy of this book!
I was really not the intended audience for this book and I knew that going into it, seeing as I am not a huge fan of regency romances. That being said, I did think it was a fun read. I also found it easier to get through than most of the other regency era novels I’ve read.
I really liked both Elizabeth and Michael and I thought their relationship was very sweet. I also thought it was interesting to get things not only from their POV but also from Peter and Jimmy. The only thing that l would really say is that I feel like we lost a bit of the romance build up in the search for the dogs.

This was a fun and charming regency romance. Cute concept with the dogs being swapped and searching for the missing pup. I enjoyed the story overall but it was a little too silly at times which made it feel cheesy. I have read and enjoyed other stories by this author.

Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is a fun read for lovers of Regency era romances.
The main characters Michael and Bitsy team together to recover Michael’s Aunt’s dog when it is dognapped from Bitsy’s home. (They had mistakenly taken each other’s dog home after a kerfluffle in the park)
They are attracted to each other and this book plays out their romance in non-spicy fashion, which while I kept waiting for the spiciness to kick in, I have to admit it didn’t make me dislike the book when it was tame throughout.
Ms. Enoch kept the characters on their feet with each other through the entire book – neither was looking to fall for each other, but they just couldn’t help it and it was fun to be along for their journey.
I’ve not read any of Ms. Enoch’s other books, but I am definitely going to check them out now.
I was given this book by NetGalley and the publisher for an honest review. All opinions are strictly my own.

This was a charming Regency romantic comedy. When Michael and Elizabeth walk almost identical black poodles in the park, and one of the dogs is stolen soon after, the pair get together to find the missing dog. I loved how the duo, seemingly very different, had such complimentary personalities. And I enjoyed the romance between Jimmy and Sally as well. And of course I loved the poodles.
I also liked that this book was one I could recommend to my mother or sisters without worrying about content. And I know they'd enjoy it :)

Every Duke Has His Day by Suzanne Enoch is a silly little Regency novel about poodles and their owners. Michael Bromley, Duke of Woriton is a chemist who has taken on care of his aunt's poodle. Elizabeth “Bitsy” Dockering is a debutante and owner of a vicious poodle and when their poodles are accidentally switched in an attempt to steal Bitsy's dog by a thwarted suitor, chaos ensues and the silliness begins. I enjoy a good Regency novel but I found this one was just a little bit over the top, tipping into ridiculous. Thank you to the author, publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this novel in exchange for my honest review.

This was such a cute book! This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

I loved this Regency story by Suzanne Enoch! 'Every Duke Has His Day' is a charming story of Bitsy and Michael, and how they change each other's lives. The kidnapped poodle story line is hilarious. In fact the whole book is filled with laugh out loud, delightful dialogue. It didn't have spice (which I LOVED) and I hope there is more to come!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. The opinions expressed in this review are entirely my own.

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. Honestly, I was missing Bridgerton and instead of impatiently rewatching seasons 1 and 2 in heady anticipation for season 3, I am glad I had this book to pick up instead. Eccentric scientist Michael and Diamond of the Season Bitsy clash in this adorable story of dogs, chemistry, and historical romantic comedy. This book lacks the spice that Bridgerton is known for so please don't go in expecting that, but expect LOTS of laughs. It was super adorable. I was smiling through the entire book and like our main leads, it's a little kooky, but in a good way.

Historical romcoms are a new favorite genre to me. After reading Suzanne Enoch's previous novel I was hoping she'd write more and I'm so glad she did. I devoured this book in less than a day! Not only are the characters fantastic but the whole "poodle-kidnapping" made me laugh out loud! I love when authors add animals into the storyline so this was a real hoot for me!

3.5
This was super cute! Zero spice BUT the plot was interesting (although it felt a little long). There were two side characters who were also likeable and got their happy ever after first. Would recommend if you like regency romance! Thank you to NetGalley for the ARC.

This was my first Suzanne Enoch book and I’m so happy I was able to read this!
Michael and Elizabeth (Bitsy) are complete opposite, grumpy sunshine, and absolutely perfect for each other. I also loved the little side story of Jimmy and Sally, those two are so cute.
I’m normally not a fan of several different points of view, but it was done very well, and not overwhelming. I actually enjoyed the little glimpses of how things are going through different eyes.
Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press, St. Martin's Griffin for this ARC. ~I was given this book and made no commitments to leave my opinions, favorable or otherwise~

This book was so cute! Read it in a day. Loved the side plots and the development of the romance.
Fun characters, easy plot.
A good, quick, summer read!
The reveal of Sally's poodle's full name was a very fun addition to a book that already had me smiling the entire time I read it.

"Every Duke Has His Day", by Suzanne Enoch, centers around Duke Michael Blumley, who is only interested in his scientific studies. This is to the consternation of his family who want him to start looking for a bride. Bitsy Dockering has had two seasons to find a suitor, and has only managed to snag Peter, who she just can't get rid of. When Bitsy and Michael run into each other in the park one day, they discover that they have almost identical black poodles. Sparks don't fly immediately, as Michael has no interest. However, when both of their dogs are stolen, they decide to work together to uncover the thief. Along the way, they develop an interest in each other as well.
I enjoyed the meet-cute element of this book, but had a harder time getting into the romance between Michael and Bitsy. Also, there were so many additional characters that it got a little confusing to keep things straight. Thanks to NetGalley for the ARC. All opinions are my own.

this is hands down my newest favorite historical rom com. i absolutely loved every single thing about this book!!!!! woriton was simultaneously frustratingly blunt but also so unknowingly sweet! i love how he allowed bitsy to flourish instead of resigning her to a ballroom or just some society girl. the side romance of sally and jimmy was just such a great contrast to peters gruff and horrifying requests. i loved this book and the name reveal at the end was CHEFS KISS!!!!

Thank you to NetGalley and St. Martin's press for the e-ARC. All opinions are my own.
EVERY DUKE HAS HIS DAY is a delightful standalone regency rom-com featuring enemies to lovers (sort of) with a touch of mystery to solve and a dash of canine chaos.
I adored our main characters, Elizabeth ("Bitsy") and Michael. I enjoyed that they made Bitsy the Diamond of the season, since it's actually not so common to see the Diamond as the heroine. It was so refreshing to see Bitsy to be portrayed as someone who likes dancing and balls and pretty, frivolous things, but also has a good head on her shoulders and can stand as Michael's equal. Michael is also a delight as the male lead; having his big scientific brain's POV was great and really balanced out the story. I expected a fluffy rom-com and I definitely got that out of this book, but it also ended up being much deeper than I expected-- Bitsy and Michael both grow as characters over the course of the story and their gradually developing chemistry was wonderful to see.
The side characters were also fun-- I love that we get the "villain's" POV as well and it really fleshed out the story further. The secondary romance was unexpected but really enjoyable.

Oh, what a delightfully silly and engaging story! A dog theft, a scoundrel of a suitor, a mad scientist and a kind society lady, all wrapped up in a fun adventure!
I really enjoyed this light, clean read, perfect for summer afternoons on the porch! I found myself rooting for the dog thief and his lady love, just as much as I did for the main characters!
I received a free ARC from NetGalley, all enthusiastic opinions are my own!

Suzanne Enoch is a guaranteed winner whenever she has a new book out. Her humor woven into every story always provides a fun read%. Elizabeth and Michael’s story is so entertaining it’ll be over before you know it. Can a fun loving frivolous Lady be exactly what a grumpy, serious minded Duke needs? Throw in a couple of poodles and a bit of science and mystery for our couple to figure out and you’ll have a smashing good time. Loved this one!

This was a refreshing regency romantic comedy. I loved the opposites attract storyline of a scholarly Duke and the diamond of the season lady. Their intelligent interactions were a delight and their journey to love was fun. The secondary story of Jimmy and Sally's relationship was an added bonus. It was all around a great regency romance that didn't feel like all the others.
