I adore Erin Hahn & love her YA books. Unfortunately this one felt a little too steamy too fast for me. Total personal preference & I think other people who love her writing will really like this one. Would typically not rate it since it's not her fault I don't love steam, but since Netgalley makes me rate it will be a 3 stars from me.

Lorelai was a country music darling engaged to one of country's biggest stars when she sings a controversial song and gets quickly cancelled by the fans, and loses her fiance all in one fell swoop. Five years later she is ready to try again, and goes to the one person who has never let her down, her fiance's ex-music partner. Craig has loved Lorelai since his ex-music partner was engaged to her. He has written songs for her, he has been in her corner, he has been her shoulder to cry on. Now they are best friends, but he still wants something more from her.

This book was everything fun about romance wrapped up in a gorgeous country music bow! If you love a good rock star romance, then you've got to check out this country star romance. The characters are such great friends and have an amazing comraderie together. The banter, the chemistry, the will they/won't they is absolutely out of this world; and the Nashville vibe of it all is the cherry on top! I fell in love with all of these characters and couldn't get enough of them.

Thank you to St Martin's Griffen for providing me with an ARC of this book.

Friends Don't Fall in Love is a book about two people who suffer from timing but mostly extreme communication issues. Our two main characters, Lorlie, whose past love has severely burned her, and Craig, who is so painfully nice and obtuse it hurts, have always been there for each other. This book read slowly for me because the main characters come together in person ~30 percent through. With a slow start and a miscommunication trope that lasted 200 pages, it took a lot of work to connect or even sympathize with the main characters. The plot also revolves around the country music scene and is riddled with references. I, a nonfan of this genre, only caught some of them. Altogether, this book was not for me, which is okay!

Thank you, Erin Hahn and Griffin, for sending me this book in return for an honest review.

This was such a cute storyline and I loved that the author created this character to be a singer/songwriter. I loved reading the lyrics that they were writing throughout the book and I feel like it just added an extra element to the story! The characters were so relatable (despite some of them being celebrities) because you could just feel and understand what they were going through. Overall, this was such a cute romance story that left me wanting more and one I would recommend to anyone wanting a lighter read!

Loved this novel. Huckleberry and Lorelai, their song writing and her phenomenal singing. Then we have he always ready to take the credit drake(aka as douchery). The story was well written, and the characters relatable. The old and new friends entertaining sidekicks. Quick, excellent read.

While I do enjoy Erin Hahn’s books this one just didn’t hit the mark for me.

3.5/5⭐️⭐️⭐️💫

A second book after Built To Last but this one follows country music star Lorelai Jones and her best friend Huck. They hooked up once years ago and are now back to working together after Lorelai decided to give country music a second time after it ran her out of town. But once she’s back their feelings for each other can’t really be ignored.

While I love a friends to lovers this one just felt ehhh to me. I liked the characters but felt like their romance was dragged out and wasn’t described well. The “miscommunication” of being friends with benefits didn’t get discussed and felt assumed. I also found that there was a ton of unnecessary cursing throughout the book. Cussing doesn’t bother me but this was over the top and felt lazy.

I still do love Erin’s story telling and enjoyed the music aspect as well as Lorelai’s rise back to fame.

This is the first book I have read by Erin Hahn and it definitely won't be the last. This was a great friends to lovers romance where the guy falls first and oh how I love when that happens. I loved this fun, cute and spicy romance. I can't say enough about this book that's why I HIGHLY recommend you pick up this book.

Erin is a brilliant storyteller. While giving a beautiful friends-to-lovers story, she provides a stunning criticism of the problems in country music and even gun control in America. I was so enthralled by Craig and Lorelai from the jump. The way that Hahn weaves their past story line with their current situation proves that she truly is a master of her craft. Craig is such a soft boy and the way that he adores Lorelai is just beautiful. He absolutely falls first, falls hardest and is the kind of man who would say that he continues to fall for Lorelai more every day. That’s just who he is. I love him. I cannot wait for Maren and Joe’s story.

This was so sweet and definitely had a couple of great *spicy* moments. Everyone needs a Craig in their life. I loved the whole backstory and seeing some past characters of Erin Hahn's. Can't wait to read the next one from her!

Erin Hahn may have just made me a friends-to-lovers fan; I absolutely adored this novel. I loved the bits of music and lyrics that were threaded throughout and the call back to her some of her past characters from her YA novel (a fun little easter egg). As with many romance novels there were a few bits that were cringy to read, and even though I enjoyed the characters' friendship I do feel like their past could've been developed a bit more, I really grew to love Huck and Lorelai's journey. I definitely will be looking out for Hahn's next release.

Friends Don’t Fall in Love by Erin Hahn
.
Lorelai Jones used to be a successful country music star until she got cancelled. But it’s been five years and she is ready to make a comeback. She calls on her good friend Craig Boseman to help her. But what Craig really wants, is Lorelai.
.
What I liked:
-If you can do the audio, DO THE AUDIO! Not only are the narrators great and do accents (it’s Nashville, ya’ll), but there is a song that the characters talk about the entire book, and at the end of the audiobook you get to hear the song! And it’s really good!
-Ok I love a good comeback story and Lorelai Jones is such a great comeback story. She has a great group of friends supporting her. And Craig is AMAZING.
-The “villian” in the story is very 😒😒😒 and I’m so glad that our people stood up to him and told him to take a hike.
-I loved everything about the romance. This was such a great friends-to-lovers book. 💜💜💜

4.5⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💫 I enjoyed this so much more than I thought I would. Highly recommend!

This was such fun read! I am a huge country music fan, so the vibes on this one were immaculate for me. I loved loved Loraeli's personality and character, and Huck was just such a FUN love interest! This was the ultimate slow burn, and sometimes the characters could have benefitted from getting out of their own way, but overall this was a perfect palate cleanser read. It was quick and sappy, country music themed, and spicy, though the spice could easily be skipped if you prefer a closed door romance, but still want the country vibes!

If you're a romance reader looking for something new and different, pick this one up!

MY HEART. I adored this one with my entire soul. The friendship between Craig & Lorelai was so pure and heartwarming and I just couldn’t get enough. The support he gave her was just *chef’s kiss*. Loved getting to see these two fall in love in this perfect friends to lovers romance. I loved built to last but it’s safe to say that I ADORED Friend’s Don’t Fall in Love.

This one is out now & do yourself a favour and listen to the audiobook if you want to experience the recorded version of Jonesin’ by the one and only Craig Boseman.

I LOVE a good friends to lovers trope. It's honestly one of my all time favorites. Throwing in a bit of music to it just bumps it up a notch.

Also, I do like when a man ends up falling first and falls super hard for the MMC AND is also a giant cinnamon roll. I love when you can feel the chemistry between two characters on page and having them have a slight past (a one night stand) and then them being able to reconnect later on and putting them in situations to make them spend more time together is a good way to draw me into a story.

Overall it was a cute book and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

I almost DNF this book at 15%, but then I switched over to the audio version to get through it since i received an ARC and I wanted to finish it to fully give my honest review. It was a cute story and I enjoyed the ending of it, but thought the book was meh. If I didn't wait until this book was released and had the opportunity to listen to the audio version, I probably wouldn't have had the motivation to finish it.

I am glad that Drake got what he deserved and that Loreli and Craig were happy at the end. I love how Lorelei stook to her values no matter what, and Craig never let anything interfere with their professional relationship and always supported and loved her through it all. It was cute, but didn't have that "soulmates" "they were meant to be and I will die on that hill" kinda vibe to it.

The mention of gun violence and school shootings here took me out and that is personal but I will not continue to read even though the book has been enjoyable thus far and I recognize the importance of this issue. I wish it had been mentioned in the blurb.

Are you kidding me? I LOVE ERIN HAHN. Definitely one of my most fave authors. I listened to the audio and it was so good. Love the plot, the music, the social activist themes, & of course the romance AND STEEEAM. Ugh, the epilogue was perfection.

How much I hate writing that I didn't finish an Erin Hahn book... I love her writing. It's deep and thoughtful (her young adults, in particular) but I could not with this one. Two of my least favorite tropes are featured heavily, friends-to-lovers and friends-with-benefits, and I had the hardest time rooting for this couple. Which is so SAD. I thought Lorelei was a fantastic friend and character in the previous novel, Built to Last.
Could I push myself to read the last 18%? Sure. But I feel like the ending won't magically cure how I feel 8 weeks after setting it down. I delayed this review this long to see if my mood was the problem and here we are - still a problem.
Will I pick up another Erin book in the future? ABSOLUTELY.
Thank you to St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.
