This story was one that pulled you in from the beginning and was full of suspense and it really kept me thinking until the end.

This is a story to read if you are looking for suspense and so much guessing

A YA Influencer twist on the trapped murder trope. 10 Influencers stuck on an island.
I love this trope - and loved this concept. Yet the book fell flat for me. A decent debut but these characters were challenging for me.

First of all…this cover is GORGEOUS! It is absolutely what drew me in. Unfortunately, that is where the love ended. This one was just not for me. I hated all of the characters and quite frankly just did not care what happened to them.

This YA rendition of the classic closed-circle thriller, reminiscent of Agatha Christie's "And Then There Were None," is skillfully executed and will certainly satisfy fans of the genre. If you're drawn to that particular plot device, this book won't disappoint. However, while the suspense is palpable, I found myself wanting in terms of character depth and emotional connection. The danger didn't grip me as much as I hoped because I struggled to invest deeply in the characters facing it. Nonetheless, individual reader experiences may vary, and for those who relish this style of thriller, I'd still recommend giving it a read.

this was such a fun and twisty ya thriller. I had this as an early arc, but didn’t get to it until now so I was able to listen to it as an audio. I enjoyed it and listening to the different narrators they had. It held my attention from the beginning to end and it was non stop, who did it until the end!

3.5 rounded up.

Ten teen influencers sail out to a deserted island to “unplug” in, what they think is, a reality tv show called “In Real Life”. They are completely shut off from social media or any communication with the outside world. Things quickly spiral downhill when the production crew never shows and a body is found. Secrets are being revealed and one of them is out for revenge…

This was an entertaining YA thriller! The twists kept coming and I was enthralled with their dirty little secrets. Rich people drama just gets me going for some reason😂 Overall, I enjoyed the storyline of the plot. I was unable to guess the baddie which is a huge plus.

Some of the characters did get on my nerves. I could hear the snob in the writing. I wish some would have been killed off quicker than others for sure. Another complaint of mine is that the only POC character didn’t get as much “screen time” as she should have. I believe her character needed more representation, especially in a book about teen influencers.

Overall, I would recommend this book to new adults/ highschoolers. It does have some heavy content at times, so definitely not younger than that. This was fast paced, easy to follow, with an interesting concept.

This book is messy in that "I can't look away" kind of way. Someone has invited quite a few young influencers to an island to film a reality TV show. All the members of the popular TikTok house, The Bounce House, are there, as well as a couple of former members, a journalist that does exposes, and an up and coming Twitch streamer. They are met by the mysterious Tilly, who tells them they're on their own for the next 3 weeks and it doesn't take long for tensions to rise....and people to die.

Messy, messy, messy, in both good and bad ways. We all love a book that shows us rich and famous people behaving badly and getting their just desserts, and this book takes it to the extreme as people start dying--someone falls off a balcony, another person somehow comes into contact with peanuts, and more. I can't believe the body count this book has--and every time someone else died, I wondered how there were still people left on the island to die.
Since it is a locked room/island mystery in the vein of And Then There Were None, you know that the person behind everything *has* to be on the island, and Worley kept me guessing until the final reveal. Every time you think you have it figured out....you don't. That was really well done, but the characterization of all the characters was....not the best. They were all just stereotypes of all the different influencer types--the fitness guru, the nutrition expert, the gamer, the journalist, etc. You could easily predict how each character was going to react to everything by which archetype they were. That was predictable and honestly kind of boring. But what saved the book from being the hottest of messes was how well Worley kept the secret of who actually was behind everything and why.

I loved the idea behind this one, but it missed the mark a bit for me. BUT I believe it was more of a me problem than a problem with the actual story. I personally found myself uninterested half way through as I found the characters immature and unlikeable. I did force myself to finish for the satisfaction of knowing who was behind everything. Again, I don't think I am part of the target audience for this one, but I do think others would enjoy it more.

A take on And Then There Were None, but make it influencers. For anyone that has been on TikTok since 2020 when the game of influencers was changed once again. I found myself wondering what could be revealed next and I gasping at each turn.

Where to start! I think I’ll start with I’m the problem it’s me. And I didn’t know until recently!

Okay so I finally read and then there were none last month and discovered that the that storyline is not necessarily for me. So if I had read that before I had this, I probably wouldn’t have put this on as a book that I wanted to make a priority. But here’s the thing it’s not a bad book at all. but after reading the source material, I just don’t think this trope is for me because I find it really frustrating to be in all of the characters heads, and they withhold something from you when you’re in their head. Like I’m in your head with your thoughts, how are you gonna keep a secret (or in this case a whole identity) from the reader?? I’ve just really come to realize that trope is not for me.

However, besides that. I think the story was interesting enough. Lots of confusing plot lines, all characters involved in each others lives, the vanity of being an influencer, it was all interesting. The writing was good & I think the modern take on and then there were none had something new to bring to the table. I just hate that this didn’t work for me! 😩

Thank you, netgalley for my copy of this book.

This YA mystery thriller is about 10 influences who travel to an island to film a reality show. There are secrets, a dead body and no way to communicate with the rest of the world.

This one pulled me in right away but the middle I did find a little slow. I definitely didn’t see the twist coming though so overall I enjoyed this one!

3 stars.

I just finished watching the Korean drama Night Has Come and felt this was VERY similar so it kept me interested to see how this would end. I enjoyed the mystery aspect of it but didn't expect the ending at all. Maybe because I'm not the key demographic of this book, I found the characters pretty annoying but also pretty spot on for being "influencers" who have done bad things. It was an interesting plot figuring out how they were all connected and the web they wove together being there. I would probably suggest this book to my teenage daughter but not to my adult friends.

This was a little too drawn out. Love that cover though, so stunning!! Might've been a bit too YA for me sadly

okay so i love trash reality tv and this book leans into the tropes and ridiculousness of it all so well. with a large cast of just about every major social media figure you can think of (prank youtubers, fitness influences, a content house, etc.), it touches on all the wild corners of the influencer-sphere. not super deep, just a fun ride if you're a reality tv fan or interested in influencer culture and how they might handle a real-life crisis.

A dishy, gossipy ride of suspense that will keep you guessing - while none of the characters are particularly likable, this lends to the story concept. Reminiscent of a modern-day game of clue, People to Follow will keep you reading.

Thank you to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review. A reality show story for all ages that ends up in murder. A tantalizing read through and through. Reality shows intrigue us all, whether we love or hate them. This puts another spin on it, making it even more interesting than it already is.

All aboard the crazy train full of unlikeable characters and chaos! This book kept my interest and was fast paced, but it was a hard read with how annoying these teens were. Lots of secrets and lots of action.

Thank you NetGalley and the publisher for the eARC

Was this a great book? No. Was it fun? Oh yes. This felt like a fun teen slasher that kept me entertained until the very last page.

Thank you to Olivia Worley, NetGalley, and St. Martin's Press for the ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Ten influencers all go to a remote Caribbean Island to film a reality show about being unplugged for a three weeks. However, when they arrive things start to go of course very quickly and then deadly. An influencer shows up dead and the production crew is no where to be found.

Overall, this is a fun suspense novel, however I would have liked more character development. I felt like I didn't really care about the influencers because I didn't really know them.

Ten teen influencers come to a remote island to star in a reality show, but when one of them winds up dead, they realize that this time, the price of being “cancelled” could be their lives.

A reality show on a remote Caribbean island. Ten teen influencers. One dead body.

Welcome to “In Real Life,” the hot new reality show that forces social media’s reigning kings and queens to unplug for three weeks and “go live” without any filters. IRL is supposed to be the opportunity of a lifetime, watched closely by legions of loyal followers. But for these rising stars--including Elody, an Instagram model with an impulsive streak; Kira, a child star turned fitness influencer; Logan, a disgraced TikTok celeb with a secret; and Max, a YouTuber famous for exposés on his fellow creators—it’s about to turn into a nightmare.

When the production crew fails to show up and one of their own meets a violent end, these nine little influencers find themselves stranded with a dead body and no way to reach the outside world. When they start receiving messages from a mysterious Sponsor threatening to expose their darkest secrets, they realize that they’ve been lured into a deadly game…and one of them might be pulling the strings.

With the body count rising and cameras tracking their every move, the creators must figure out who is trying to get them canceled—like, literally—before their #1 follower strikes again.

I really enjoyed the slow build of this mystery. Will definitely read more of Olivia Worley.
