I think this book would be great for gen z, but as millenial I just didn’t vibe with it. I think it would be great for a lot of readers though, just not me. It’s a take on hype house IMO and had too many tik tok etc references. The cover is beautiful. Thank you NetGalley for this arc.

Elody is one of the most annoying characters. Why does she call every one babe.
A group of influencers get a trip to stay in a house for a reality show.
They soon realize that nobody tells the truth and they will all be "canceled"

I love popcorn thrillers and this one didn’t disappoint! Poking fun at influencer culture, People to Follow lures top influencers onto an island and encourages chaos to reign! Simultaneously ridiculous and suspenseful, it’s an incredible addition to this genre of quick, anxiety-inducing reads!

This definitely has a very young adult feel in both the writing style and the dialogue of the characters. Knowing that going in, I was only slightly annoyed by the dialogue, but perhaps that's on purpose because they're all youths?
Overall it was a solid read - well written, interesting story, good character development. The main issue I had was there being too many main characters and the narrator jumps around a lot. I think it would have been stronger with narration primarily from Elody and Kira with Max thrown in just a few times. It felt like Kira and Logan were both protagonists.
Beyond my own issues with the narration style, I'd definitely recommend if you like young adult thrillers. And lock-door mysteries!

The gen-z thriller we've all been waiting for. Smart, well-paced, and thrilling, this was a wonderful quick read.

this just wasn't for me. thanks netgalley & the publisher for the arc in exchange for an honest review

Pulling back the curtain on what it's really like to be an influencer. 10 influencers are selected seemingly related to their popularity to travel to a secluded Caribbean island to film a reality show called "IRL". Things take a turn when one ends up dead.
When I first started the book I felt like each of the 4 perspectives telling the story had a unique voice. When ready a chapter narrated by "Elody" you knew that it was her. As the story progressed I felt like that voice became more and more watered down. To the point where I would have to flip back to the beginning of the chapter to remember whose POV I was reading.
The overall story was good. I didn't see the twist coming even though I was looking for one.
Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Thought this was a quick, fun and easy thriller. Too many characters and the plot didn't flow at times like why would these people play spin the bottle after literally just discovering Zane was a SA? take that our, please.

A solid whodunit with several suspects to choose from. There were some surprises as well
Many thanks to St. Martin’s Press and to Netgalley for providing me with a galley in exchange for my honest opinion.

So many twists and turns that kept me constantly guessing. This would make a fantastic movie. I really enjoyed all of the characters and the premise of the book. Highly recommend!
Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for the arc of this book.

This book was amazing! there were so many twists and turns that kept me constantly guessing. I loved all of our characters and how easily distinguishable they were. I started this book one night and then could not put it down until I had finished it! I hope this book becomes a movie or series one day it would be so good in that media format as well.

As a reality TV producer, and a micro influencer from time to time, I was so excited to get this book!
The story kicks off when ten influencers are sent to an island to compete on a reality show. The twist is when one of them is “cancelled,” they are actually killed. Each of the ten characters is set apart from the others well, and this was such a fun, fast paced read. I also truly did not figure out the ending, and enjoyed the story until the very last page!

Y’alllllll! This book came out swinging with the drama and I LOVE IT. It’s giving Natasha Preston vibes. It’s giving MTV’s Big Brother mixed with “The Island” mixed with “Come Out Come Out Whatever You Are”. If you are a fan of authors Preston or Foxfield, then this book needs to be added to your TBR immediately! The dialogue is witty and up to date with the current slang. It’s relatable (because who wouldn’t want to be an influencer and live your life doing whatever you want on a remote island?). Olivia Worley did a great job with the multiple POV. Each character has their own voice and develops in a way that is unique and authentic to them. Worley really SUCKS you in with he first few chapters and the plot flows so easily, you won’t know you’re almost done. This one is hard to put down and has you screaming “wtf” with even new twist!

I had so much fun reading this. THIS WILL be a movie or tv show. It really kept me guessing. It's a fun read ! Check it out if you reality shows and influencers for sure ! Just a all around fun read
Thanks netgalley!!!!!

Wow this book was the perfect quick read I needed! I wanted a good mystery/thriller and boy did this book deliver. I enjoyed this who did it book that is perfectly captivating gen z and their personalities. I loved how it followed 10 influencers to this private island. It had big brother/scream/clue vibes and it had me hooked until the end. I found the beginning of the story a bit slow but once the first murder happened I was hooked. This book has me guessing until the end and I did not see the ending coming. I give this book 5 out of 5 stars. Thank you netgalley and publisher for the advanced copy.

Completely captivating and just what I needed to read. This will keep your mind guessing and your head spinning. Highly recommend to readers of all types.

People to Follow is a fast-paced, gripping thriller set on a private island to where 10 influencers agree to travel. These influencers are told to unplug for the next three weeks: no phones, no tablets, no televisions, no screens. Unfortunately, quite a few members of the group have bad relationships with other members. And, of course, everyone is hiding a major secret or two. Before the first night is even over, one of the group is found dead. Was it an accident or did one of the group members kill him? After that death, all Hell breaks lose: secrets are revealed, lies are told, betrayals outted. None of the characters are likable; however, that is part of the story. The author writes them to not be likable. WIth that said, I still thoroughly enjoyed each of the POVs chapters. I was kept guessing from page 1. People to Follow is unique and quite dark. I will definitely be recommending it to anyone looking for a great thriller!

Thank you to NetGalley and the Publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this book in exchange for my honest review.
"People to Follow" is about what happens when a group of Influencers put their screens away for a reality show on an otherwise deserted island. What happens next kept me glued to the book until the very end, as I could not wait to see how it ended up. I really loved how well the different character perspectives were written in different chapters. It was easy to follow and still kept me on the edge of my seat.
Can't wait to see what Olivia Worley writes next!

My Thoughts
As the story progresses we find with each chapter a new reason to be wary of Gen Z.
The ten characters that this young adult mystery thriller revolves around are one and all not ever anyone I would find to easily relate with, my age disparity aside, because they personally represent a culture that actually exists and has a power it really should not.
Written from 4 viewpoints with chapters featuring each of the narrators as they learn more about what is driving the deadly game they are all caught in none of them endear themselves to me for very long.
Filled with modern slang and references, some of which are unfamiliar to older readers like myself and which I neither care about or know the meaning of, did not stop me from having to know the what, when, who or why this particular scenario was masterminded to punish.
A page turner that brought everyones dirty little secrets out of the darkness and into the spotlight shone on them with tragic results until the final reveal brought out all the real secrets before story concluded.
Many things to discover along this winding twisty road and just as each discovery seems to be the last we are privy to one more.
Fast read, characters range from somewhat balanced to totally the opposite, the setting is spectacular but also pretty creepy for someone who likes to be able to see land at all times.
The final twist was actually pretty interesting to me, as it should be to others, and worth waiting for as well.
Not a reread but a good indication the author has a storytellers knack which will appeal to the target audience this was penned for.
On every book read as soon as it is done and written up for review it is posted on Goodreads and Netgalley, once released then posted on Amazon, Barnes and Nobles as well.

I knew this was YA when I downloaded it, and there's some YA that is fun and light to read, and then there's some that just feels too juvenile. For me this fell into the latter category. The pros: it was an easy read, the mystery keeping you guessing. The cons (for me): some of the youthful language was grating -- the overuse of "literally" and "babe," plus some of the decisions the people (teenagers) are making in the book. If people are dying, why are we getting drunk and playing games? It felt like some non-sensical decisions. Plus, we decide to move the first body to a respectful location, and then as other deaths happen we just let them lie where they are? Strange. So this one was not for me but might appeal to a more youthful audience (as intended, I suppose!).
