Why Failure is Never Final by Dr. Jantz.

Putting failure into perspective is one of the challenges of life. What an apt, eye-catching cover! Whoever hits the bull’s eye consistently?

Dr Jantz accepts failure as a given, and helps the reader manage the stresses and the feeling of being stuck by detailing helpful attitudes and principles to adopt. As a professional psychologist, he illustrates his points through case studies known to him. Surely I identified with the individual successful in work but not in relationship.

Although Dr Jantz uses Biblical quotations throughout the book, directing the reader to godly principles, I would have appreciated an appendix, (or introduction),defining what the Bible basically teaches. He is keen to have the reader draw on God’s support, but even a superficial reading of the Scriptures does not evidence God accepts everyone. In these days of postmodernism, I believe it would have served the reader’s best interest to inform the reader how Christ is the Lamb of God, given to bear the punishment of sin for those who believe in him. (John 3:10-21)

In the light of eternity, failure becomes a heart unsubmissive to God, and this is not addressed in this book. I would have appreciated at least a prompt to examine this aspect of failure, given he presents himself as a Christian counselor.
