Wow, what an original and exciting story! This novel is so gripping that I couldn't bear to put it down. Lisa Jewell, once more, made me wish that there were more hours in a day so that I could spend them with her characters. Makes you wonder how crazy people really are in real life….

Thank you Netgalley for this advance readers copy.

This book kept me guessing the whole time. I could have never guessed what would happen. I kept thinking I had it figured out just for another twist to come along.

One of Lisa Jewell’s best! I just kept repeating “I have no idea what’s happening” while reading this book and that stayed true to the very end.

4 1/2 out of 5 stars

This was one of the most interesting Lisa Jewell books that I have read in a while. I really loved the podcast element and the "Single White Female" vibe from this. The idea of birthday twins was fun because I know we have all met a birthday twin and one point in our lives. The novel goes back and forth between Josie and Alix's narratives which reads incredibly unique for each woman. I will say that this felt like Jewell was leaving things slightly open for a sequel...

It's right there in the title. None of this is true. Remember that.

Popular podcaster Alix Summers meets Josie Fair on the night of her 45th birthday while celebrating. Scratch that— it's actually THEIR birthday. Because Josie is celebrating her 45th birthday, too.

This coincidence leads to another chance run-in outside Alix's kids' school. Josie says she's been listening to Alix's podcast and thinks she'd be a good subject for a new series. You see, she's planning on making some big changes to her life soon.

Alix finds Josie a little strange, and the coincidences just keep piling up, but she's not ready to call it quits on the podcast just yet. Soon, Josie has implanted herself firmly into Alix's life and home— the cost of making this podcast might be more than she bargained for.

The twists and turns in this one are WILD, and Lisa Jewell's character development makes you feel like you know both women. But just remember— none of this is true.

None Of This Is True is a must-read! The setting was easy to place yourself in to making this an easy book to journey along with. From the beginning, Lisa allows us the opportunity to deeply care about both main characters making the back-and-forth of who to trust a wild ride. Lisa Jewell works her usual magic of keeping the reader guessing every step of the way, even as a seasoned reader who can usually clue into where certain twists and turns will end up, this book had me stumped and completely enthralled until the last reveal. A book that presents many questions about the not so linear road map of the human psyche and what we are capable of when broken people enter our lives, or as the broken ones. A true psychological thriller that shouldn't be skipped!

I will be a forever fan of Lisa Jewell! Her writing style is always so captivating & she brought her A game with this one. I could not put this book down. I had to know what was going happen between Alix & Josie. From start to finish it was a roller coaster of emotion and I loved every second! Loved the ambiguous ending too. Definitely will recommend to fellow thriller lovers

This was my first Lisa Jewell and it wont be my last 🤭

In “None of This is True” we follow housewife Josie Fair and popular podcaster Alix Summers who coincidentally were both celebrating their 45th birthday at the same pub. This encounter sparks Josie’s curiosity about Alix’s life. Alix’s podcast focuses on women who have overcome hardship and Josie convinces Alix to make her the next subject as she has some secrets to reveal. This appearing mutually beneficial opportunity turns out to cost Alix and Josie more than they bargained for.

What a page-turner!! I had so much fun reading this and I loved the structure. The modern elements of podcasting and the Netflix series were perfect and added to the plot.

As the story unfolds, we learn more about Josie’s life, a combination of disturbing and highly questionable. Her marriage, the estrangement from her mother, her missing daughter, and odd quirks like her obsession with denim (she had a denim dog carrier🤨) made her a captivating character to unpack. Her secrets were darker than I could imagine and the plot twists continued until the VERY last page. The title couldn’t be more accurate.

I loved it. I can't wait to read more by Lisa!

I've read almost every single Lisa Jewell novel that has been written, and this is easily my favorite of her works. The mix of unreliable characters, suspenseful twists, and just the general slow unraveling of everything on the page... I found myself gasping as I read and eagerly recommending to all of my friends.

I would like to thank NetGalley and Atria Books for providing me with an advance copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. It’s available now in your local and online bookstores and libraries.

Alix Summers is the host of a popular podcast that showcases women and their strength and perseverance. One night, while out celebrating her forty-fifth birthday, she meets Josie Fair. She and Josie are birthday twins, born on the same day in the same hospital. After bumping into Josie a few days later, Alix decides to interview Josie for her podcast. Quickly, she realizes that Josie’s story isn’t what she thought it was, and Alix discovers that she’s actually recording a true crime podcast. Not long after finishing the podcast, Josie disappears and Alix finds out that there is a lot more to Josie than she realized.

This book took me five days to read because I was sick while I was reading it, but I’m almost glad it took that long. I had the story and its characters in my head for days. It’s creepily unsettling and positively captivating. This is my fourth Lisa Jewell book, and it’s my favorite of hers by a mile. If you love “murder shows” (as I like to call true crime television) as much as I do, you will love this book. Also, if you can, listen to the audiobook. It is amazing. It has a full cast, music, and sound design. I also recommend having either a physical or digital copy to read along as you listen because there are small descriptions left out of the audiobook for some reason. I think it’s to help you fully immerse yourself into the experience, but I’m glad I had all the details in the book as well. Put this book on your TBR post haste!

Lisa Jewell did it again! This was full of twists and turns and kept me guessing right until the end. The pacing of the story kept me hooked in addition to the podcast transcripts and interviews with minor characters. Loved it!

Another fantastic suspense/thriller for Lisa Jewell. This book will keep you on your toes. Jewell has mastered the pacing in this one. None of the book felt like filler for me. I picked this one up and could not put it down!.

This is my first Lisa Jewell book and while I intend other books by her, this one did not grip me. I was put off by the format, but mainly the characters. I could not connect to any of them, did not find the situations they were in believable, and did not like the pacing or the unreliable narrator aspect - it didn't feel genuine and I just couldn't connect with the story. I'm giving it 3 stars because I did want to find out what happened and couldn't really put it down.

This book was a great beach read. It kept me interested with hints of A Simple Favor. Pretty true to the genre and similar authors in the field. I might have preferred this as an audiobook.

I have been slacking on my beloved @lisajewelluk #reads and I finally caught up to this one, which did not disappoint. 100% my favorite of her last few #books. Fair warning, this one features a woman that is about as absolutely nuts as Hannibal Lecter (and far less likable) - I felt NO sympathy for this woman.

Two very different women, chic hit podcaster Alix Summer and “only wears head to toe denim”, unknown and isolated Josie Fair, randomly discover in a local pub that they are both celebrating their birthdays - and are, in fact “birthday twins”.

Oddly enough, Alix begins to see more and more of Josie, someone she has little in common with apart from being a wife and mother (and their experiences of marriage and children are about as polar opposite as you can imagine). Eventually, Josie throws out a podcast idea wildly unlike anything Alix has done before and on a whim gut feeling, Alix agrees to work with Josie’s idea - an idea that centers around Josie’s own story and future.

When the audio is rolling, though, Alix becomes more and more disturbed about the life and stories of this woman she knows - and yet knows nothing about - and, finds herself in the presence of this complicated and strange Josie Fair more and more, the consequences of which will change her life forever.

Podcast books seem to really be picking up in recent years. Alix is a podcast host, highlighting the lives of different women. When she runs into Josie at a restaurant on both of their forty-fifth birthdays, Josie latches onto Alix, convincing her that she deserves to be the subject of a podcast.
The book bounces back and forth between present day narrative of the two women interacting, snippets of their recorded podcast, and updates from a documentary about them. It’s clear based on the documentary that something dark is coming for the two women and it made it hard for me to put this book down.
Josie is one of the most spine-tinglingly off-putting characters I’ve read. Clearly unreliable, her actions made me cringe throughout the entirety of the book and I wanted to shake Alix sometimes. The real story here is incredibly dark and twisted, so be warned.
Despite the snappy format, I found that the narrative dragged toward the middle. We kept getting story after story that we couldn’t trust and I was ready for things to be figured out long before they were. I also did not think the ending did justice to the rest of the story.
Solid, but not standout.
