I thought this was going to be different. It was difficult for me to stay engaged. It really read almost like a research paper or presentation that was written. The topic was interesting but the writing wasn’t very engaging.

Absolutely fantastic. This exceptionally well-researched book addresses an important moment in history, for Black communities, for students, for the working class, etc. While focused on a specific moment and place, the story Robinson tells is one that will resonate with many people. As an academic and historian, this is the type of research that gets me excited about what we do.

I tried on several occasions in multiple venues to see if they would be interested in a review...just did could not get a hit.

Marc Arsell Robinson's "Washington State Rising" is an academic study of the rise of Black Student Union's in the 1960s at two of Washington State's public universities: the University of Washington (Seattle) and Washing State University (Pullman). [read more on my site.]
