This was adorable and a great representation of disability. I read it to my little's and they had so much fun.

I did not get anything out of this book. It was not interesting and the story line was very weak. Cute illustrations though

Wonderful book to help kids learn about making good and wise choices. Sometimes you have to make the bad ones to learn the lessons so that you won't make the same mistake twice. Wonderful characters to follow along in the story. Families will enjoy reading this story together and discussing what's happening.

Rohan is patiently waiting for his bigger sister Nqra to come back home. When Nyra gets home she has an amazing gift for her brother - a new football! They both go outside for a cheerful game of catch which soon turned to be a life lesson for Rohan.
This lovely picture book teaches children diversity and acceptance as well as the moral lesson of not being greedy. The great example of understanding what you have and what you can and cannot risk is very well explained in this book.
I rate it 5 out of 5 stars and recommend it for children aged 5+.

A solid lesson in making good choices and the consequences for making bad ones. Should be read to every child

This was a great lesson for readers of all ages! The characters were relatable and the rhyming text would be catchy for small children.

Thank you, Mascot Kids, for the advance reading copy.

The concept of this book is quite interesting as it provides a lesson through an interactive game between two siblings. Fun turns into competition until the big sister tries to teach a loving lesson in greed, a basic human instinct. I feel that this is a very good book and it delivers what it needs to.

The illustration is good too!

This is a darling little story, I loved it! Rohan and his sister are an endearing pair, and the book teaches a great lesson about greed and risk-taking that is very easily comprehensible. Also, I appreciate the POC representation and the casual representation of a character in a wheelchair without her disability being the point of the story.

I don’t know if it’s my device or if it’s the book itself, but a lot of the pages are faded and unreadable, which is sorta sad because the illustrations and the story that I was able to read were good and enjoyable.

I adored these characters and this story ! What a great life lesson and a perfect way to help a child understand it.

This book would be a perfect addition to a first grade classroom. I’m all about setting kids up to be financially smart.

Rohan and Nyra and Big Sister's Bet was so much fun with a great message for young children. Rohan is taught an important lesson in not being greedy after they play a special game of catch with his older sister. My young boys loved this one, the illustrations were great, and I loved the diversity.

This would be the perfect book for early readers in the classroom.

Thank you to NetGalley and Mascot Kids for allowing me to be an early reader. All opinions are my own.

Rohan and Nyra and Big Sister’s Bet is the third book in the Owning the Dash Kid’s Book Series. I haven’t read any of the others and this one can be read as a standalone without a problem.

I loved that the book explores the dynamics of a brother/sister relationship and believe that any family with a newborn on the way or several siblings already would enjoy this book with a lovely lesson to learn. The book also represents disabilities as it includes the sister in a wheelchair. I thought this was done in such a creative way. It was part of the story because it existed, but was not the focus of the story. As a matter of fact, it was never even mentioned. That’s a great message for kids to learn early. We are all different, but we are all the same in many ways.

I liked the illustrations, the flow of the story and the writing. The premise, not so much. I’m not sure children should be betting money. I understand that the author is trying to teach money values to children but this one fell flat for me.

Although the book is about a brother and sister, and their relationship dynamic, I couldn’t help and point out that I absolutely loved the fact that the sister is in a wheelchair – and this is the best part – it is not what the story is about, it is not even mentioned or stressed in any way, that is not even a part of the story. That is just a normal thing, she is just a regular human living her life. In a wheelchair. Being a human. In a wheelchair. I really wish it would be like that in more books. Normalizing all sorts of human experiences, even if it sometimes involves a wheelchair.
The story is well written and the drawings are lovely also, but what I loved most about the book was the wheelchair normalization part.

I really enjoyed this book, and I loved the message that comes from the story

The book is well written and it was an easy one to read with my daughter. She really enjoyed the story and as mum I loved the inclusion and morale from the story too.

The illustrations are lovely, and it is definitely a book I will be recommending – it is 5 stars from me for this one – very highly recommended!!

This was a great book that explores the brother sister dynamic. It has great illustrations and characters and I find many young families with siblings swill enjoy it! It teaches great life lessons as well regarding greediness as well and what it could lead to.

This is such a lovely story, with an important lesson to be learnt. I loved the relationship between brother and sister, and also the representation of a disability that was not a focus of the book, but just present. I can imagine some kids will enjoy seeing themselves or family members represented in a fun story. Told in fluid verse, this sweet story is one I know my kids would love read over and over.
