Any story that mentions friends with benefits is a must read for me! That’s probably my favorite trope besides enemies to lovers. This book features FWB (friends with benefits), only one bed, forced proximity, and so many more tropes! It was actually very tropey and I was all for it! This story is cute, quirky, and steamy! The characters are flawed (who isn’t), but so lovable. Sophie was a fabulous main character AND she has a pace maker!! How cool! My best friend IRL has one and it was amazing seeing her represented.
The one thing that I wasn’t a fan of was the smut. I like steam; slow burns are my jam, but the sexy scenes just weren’t my cup of tea. There’s a ton of steamy/smut loving readers out there and y’all will definitely enjoy this!
Thank you NetGalley for my eARC of Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa!

This one is really cute, and deals with some really serious things pretty well, while also retaining a light-heartedness. I really liked Sophie's slow insight into her own quirks and foibles, and I really liked Dash standing learning to stand up for himself. SO fun.

Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa is a cute, funny & spicy rom-com about a romance author who *plot twist* has never been in love. Her ironic secret was exposed and it's ruining her reputation so she devises a plans to discover the truth while bringing her millions of followers along for the virtual ride. The female protagonist adds depth and diversity to the narrative as she navigates both her queerness and a heart condition that necessitates the use of a pacemaker. Meanwhile, the male protagonist grapples with the challenges of alcohol addiction and his path to recovery. Plot Twist stands out as one of the best romances out the season. Set to be released November 14 where ever you buy books. ✨Be prepared for pure unfiltered gushing about my new favorite romance book of all time and the facilitator of my first book boyfriend EVER, ahead✨
This book was EVERYTHING for me and got me out of the longest reading slump I’ve been in in a while!!! I loved all the characters, the plot, the realness of the characters and their flaws, the incorporation of social media, the LA setting, I could go on foreverrrrr! It comes out November 14th so mark those calendars and preorder asap!!!
The former actor, from Hollywood royalty, on a sober journey, that crafts, and has tattoos, is so swoon worthy, is the FMC landlord and the older brother of the FMC best friend….THAT DID ME IN AND MADE DASH MONTROSE MY FIRST OFFICIAL BOOK BOYFRIEND EVER!!!
Suffice to say, this was my perfect 5⭐️book🤩🤩🤩 I feel like @erinlarosalit just went in my brain and took all the things I love about life and pieced them together to make this PERFECT NOVEL! I officially will have to read everything she’s written and will write immediately😂💕
Special thanks to @canarystreetpress @netgalley for the review copy to read and review before its publication.

I found this book difficult to read at a lot of times because the story felt incohesive to me. There was just so much going on at any one time: he's her best friend's brother, she's tracking down her exes to figure out why she can't love, she's trying to write a book, he's got a stalker, oh he's also newly sober and keeping it a secret...the list goes on. Because here were so many plot points, none felt complete or well developed. And I thought the two main characters lacked chemistry so I just didn't care about whether they ended up together. I'm sure this author will be a hit with other readers, but it wasn't a fit for me.
I voluntarily reviewed an early copy of this book. All opinions are my own.

First a huge thanks to NetGalley & Harlequin Trade Publishing for an e-Arc of Plot Twist by Erin La Rosa.
Overall this was a good and short romance book. We follow Soph and Dash in this cute romcom.
I did want more out of this story, while I liked Dash well enough, Soph was a difficult character for me to get into. We are told how selfless and good she is but mostly what we see is that she’s kind of selfish and self centered. I didn’t enjoy her journey through her exes, especially since it didn’t really play into her figuring out her own issues but oh well.
I was glad when Dash finally stood up for himself and put some boundaries in place with his mom and how he ended up getting help, this was truly what made me enjoy the book.
The ending was a lot better; so overall a 3 star read for me.

My initial thoughts 34% into the book… I’ve considered DNF’ing this book multiple times. Feels a little YA or at least Sophie feels younger and stupider than she actually is. I get what she’s trying to do, but it’s taking forever to set up and I’m over the “I can’t be interested in X because they’re my best friend/sister’s brother/best friend.” You are grown ass adults, you can do what you want! Ugh! Hopefully these two get over themselves soon or I’m going to give up and move on.
55% Update - To DNF or not to DNF? 🤔 The most interesting thing for me about this book right now is a freaking squirrel named Richard (a.k.a. Dick). I feel bad because I want to like this book, I DO want to see where things end up. BUT there’s something about the side drama going on in each MC’s storyline, as well as they’re still actively avoiding each other because they don’t deserve to be happy or the sister/BF thing, that’s just making me want to stop. I’ve made it this far so I’m gonna keep on truckin’ on.
DNF’ing at 63% - I can’t with these two. They talk about how easy it is being honest with one another yet THEY DON’T COMMUNICATE the most important things! They’re also lying to themselves to cover up what they want because they’re trying to protect their feelings. Maybe I don’t know about substance abuse to recognize if the steps Dash is taking are accurate. Also, miscommunication is not a favorite trope of mine and it’s too much of a slow burn so I’m calling it.
For those that love a SLOW burn, best friend/sibling romance w/ a healthy dose of miscommunication, then this book is for you! I’d absolutely give this author another shot, but this particular book is just not for me.
Please Note: I received an advance copy for an honest review.

This book might just be my favourite of the year. I feel like I might be slightly bias because I am a total sucker for every trope in this book but it was done so well! One thing I always admire in a book is that they aren't perfect, it feels so much more authentic and relatable when our MC's have mundane flaws. It was a pleasure to read about Sophie and Dash's journeys and they come together in a uniquely beautiful story. Special shoutout to our favourite squirrely friend too :)
This is my first book from Erin La Rosa and I know this one actually does have a pre-curser about Nina but it can definetly be read as a stand-alone. Thank you again for this early access, I cannot wait to support the author on release day!

This was giving off romcom vibes, so I immediately requested it even though it was the second in a series. I did finish it, but I struggled. There was a lot of missed opportunity for struggle in the beginning that makes for a good story. It was very spicy, so it definitely fits the bill there.
Thank you to NetGalley and Canary Street Press for an e-arc to read, rate, and review.

This was a fun story. I really liked Dash and Sophie and following their arc - they’re both smart and funny and a little quirky. The book started strong from me, felt a bit stretched towards the half, and then the last fourth seemed condensed. Or maybe I just wanted more of the depth and story found in the last fourth. Regardless, I enjoyed it and found myself rooting for the MCs to get themselves together (in the best of ways) and out of their own way.
My favorite part, of course, is Richard. 😉
I received an ARC courtesy of the publisher and NetGalley. The opinions are mine alone.

Love! Great character development. THIS is why you need good character arcs to make a book great. They were so cute together, but the moment they got together felt...off.

This book was pretty cute! I went into this just hoping for a good time and it delivered!
This book is spicier than I expected and it was well written. I like how it tackled deeper subjects like Dash’s alcoholism, Nina’s difficulty having children, etc. but still left room for a cute romance.
This book is by no means perfect. The total misunderstanding of TikTok as a platform was difficult to read, and Sophie grated on me quite a bit. I also wish we got to see more of Poppy throughout because a good bit of the plot centered around Dash being the “best friend’s brother” archetype but we didn’t meet the best friend early enough to make me care about her feelings. It was a poor motivator for Sophie to initially reject Dash as a result.
My issues with it kept it from getting the coveted five star rating but it was still a cute and fun book worth reading.
Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with a copy in exchange for an honest review!

Sophie is a writer who can't write, and Dash is Hollywood royalty who wants nothing to do with the spotlight. Sophie's also best friends with Dash's sister, so he's totally off-limits. Totally. Right? Wrong. The pair makes a deal to help one another with their current problems, and as they spend time together, there's an undeniable chemistry between them that becomes difficult to ignore. There's only one problem — actually, there are several — but the MAIN one is that Dash wants to focus on his sobriety and not get into a relationship, while Sophie is singularly focused on falling in love. Naturally, they agree to a friends-with-benefits situation, because hey, we're all human and make terrible life choices that we know aren't in our best interests. So buckle up and enjoy the ride!
This was exactly what I wanted it to be: uncomplicated, sweet, full of sexual tension, and easy to read. Is it earth-shattering? No, but it works really well. I found the early bits about BookTok, how to social media, and the exhaustive listing of various tropes to be kind of annoying, but readers outside the sphere of bookish social media might find that stuff interesting and helpful to their understanding. The pace was quick and steady throughout, which I always appreciate in a romance. And usually I find the smutty bits off-putting, but Sophie and Dash's encounters were honestly so REALISTIC and not over-the-top — no gymnast positions, cringy pet names, or porno-level dirty talk — that I rather enjoyed them.
Some plot points here were predictable (but that's romance for you, really) but I think they were handled extremely well and again, realistically. Pick this one up if you need a satisfying romance with a little FWB, forced proximity, and off limits action. Thank you to Erin La Rosa, Canary Street Press, and NetGalley for my advance digital copy!

Thank you to the publisher and NG for a free e-arc copy for review. All opinions are my own.
Plot Twist is a cute read and I am glad I was given the opportunity to read it before its release date!
No third act breakup, communication between the two, safe sex, therapy, learning about themselves and one another, all great things.
I did find some of it was a bit corny and that the ending went too fast compared to the rest of the story. They also mentioned a character near the ending who I am not 100% sure who it was, so that was a thing. Might be on me honestly.
Overall, a fun romance but definitely not a fave. I still suggest giving it a chance if you're intrigued enough!

Really enjoyed Sophie and Dash’s story! I’m not a big fan of social media playing a role in stories but I think the author did a good job at not overwhelming readers when it came to TikTok. I’m a sucker for a friends to lover trope and watching Dash and Sophie’s story evolve into more was really sweet. Also loved the Nina cameo! This book also deals with heavy topics such as addictions and family struggles, and I think the author did a good job being sensitive to those topics!
Thank you NetGalley and Harlequin Trade Publishing for the eARC!

*As Always* Thank you to NetGalley, the publisher and the author for sending me an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review.
The story follows Sophie and Dash. Sophie is an author, who is suffering from a writer’s block. Dash is Sophie's best friend's brother. He lives alone working on this crafting skills. Sophie and Dash start working together, becoming friends but there relationship slowly turns into something more as they get to know each other. This is a really fast paced read! This is a solid romance for any season too! I definitely recommend this book to anyone who loves reading rom-coms! The setting is very cozy and relatable!

I really enjoyed this book! The spicyness was on point and I liked how it discussed themes of alcoholism and didn't shy away from how it can affect interpersonal relationships.

Unfortunately, this title was not for me. I think the writing is great, and the plot overall was good. The inclusion of different characters, LGBTQ individuals and disabilities/recovery was nice. But this was very tropey, the inclusion of TikTok turned me off (as an Avid poster, it just didn’t click well imo) and the cheating trope really turned me off.

Plot Twist was such a quick and fun read! I zoomed through this book in two sittings. I loved the characters and the plot of the story. Buuuuuut- I can’t say that this has been my favorite book or is in the top ten. I think the way the story starts out makes sense, but it quickly sidetracks to another story. There were also times that I was confused as to how the MC’s ended up in some situations. I wanted more in regards to natural scene/mood changes. It all felt a little… forced and rushed at times. But I will say this was lessened with the dual POV’s because without that I would have been even more lost. Overall, a great (spicy) romance. Just not my absolute favorite atm. #NetGalley #NetGalleyARC #ARC #PlotTwist #Romance

What a sweet, sexy charmer this book is! I love it when the central pairing of a romance novel features people who each need to heal some fundamental part of themselves and are able to find that healing in each other, and Plot Twist delivers that in spades. Lovely main characters, reasonably good side characters, believable conflicts, a villain definitely worth hating... can't wait to read more from this author!
