This book was fantastic! I was on the edge of my seat from the first page. It's been a great sequel to The Liar's Crown by continuing with the intriguing world building, development of the world's lore, and evolution of the characters. Abigail Owen has such a poetic way of describing places and situations. This book had a much better pace to it than the first. I love how much Meren has learned and grown from everything she's been through so far, even though she occasionally grapples with trusting her training or instincts. I appreciate that she doesn't try to handle EVERYTHING on her own. She relies on her found family from the Shadowood and zariphate to help work through issues and solve problems. Also, the drama! And the tension! I cannot wait for the third book in this series because what a cliffhanger! I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Review submitted 5/8/23.

Having enjoyed the first book, my expectations were high for this installment. However, I found myself somewhat disappointed; it didn't quite meet the heightened anticipation I had. I wanted more depth and development from the series as a whole.

This is well written and fun but it doesn't really stand out in the genre. I don't like the cover at all.

The Stolen Throne is an amazing sequel to The Liar’s Crown!! I absolutely loved the first book, so I was very excited for this one!

Meren is such a great FMC, but in this book she kind of became a bit more insecure about where her and Reven stood. Although, it wasn’t terrible and didn’t seem out of character for her. She’s used to being a second choice, a spare, and less than her sister. So, in my opinion, it made sense she’d be insecure about why Reven was distancing himself from her. Meren had a great development for her character by the last chapter of the book, so I cannot wait to see where the third book takes her.

This book was heavy with plot rather than romance (but still had a fair amount of romance), which I really enjoyed!! We visited more of the Dominions in this book as they journeyed. The side characters each played important roles throughout the story. I really loved Vos, Tziah, Achlys, and Pella. There was a character that I absolutely adored and was so upset with how their part in the story took a turn. Pella and Hakan were amazing, love them so much. Pella had fantastic development!

Overall, I loved this book. It was full of interesting turns, great world building, intriguing and complex characters, and beautiful writing! Thank you NetGalley and Entangled Teen for the arc! All thoughts and opinions are my own.

I only requested it because of the pretty cover, and when I got accepted I realized it was the second book in a trilogy! Having to go read another and then come back to this one made it so that the book was archived before I could officially download it, but I did have a copy, so I am not sure what happened. I would definitely recommend this book to fans of YA fantasy. This book was exciting, with great characters, fantastic world-building, and just enough romance to keep things interesting.

I really liked the first book in this series. And yes, you need to read the first book to understand this one. That being said, even with having read the first book this one was confusing with to much happening and so many characters to keep track of. Most of these character seemed to never appear again. It felt rushed. I had so much hope for this book, but after this I do not think I will be finishing this series.

I want to thank Netgalley and Entangled Publishing, LLC for an ARC of this book.

This was so good! I binged book one prior to diving into this one and I was just as in love with the characters and world in this second installment. It was fast-paced and adventurous. I can't wait for the final installment and hope to get a chance to read and review it!

It has been such a long time since I have been truly obsessed with a book series!!! This book has grabbed me by the throat I can’t stop thinking about it.

This author truly has a way words. A true literary artist. The world is so perfect I can just see myself in it. The characters are so lovable even if you hate them at times. It’s cause you’re so invested. I would follow this author to the end of the world!

The ending !!!!! OMG! Like what! Ok where is the next book!

This was a much much needed sequel for me. I was a fan of book one and was so excited about book two. I was so engrossed in book two that I could not put it down easily.

The character dynamics written by Owen are amazing, you feel lively and can run through each of the chraracters. There is magic in the words that would make you feel everything that happens.

I cannot wait for the next book!

I loved the first book in the series. I found that this sequel slowed down the story a lot. It was still very well written and an enjoyable story, but the pacing was much slower than the first. I just wasn't expecting it.

Thank you to NetGalley, Entangled Publishing & Abigail Owen for an ARC of The Stolen Throne in exchange for an honest review.

Synopsis quoted & review below:

"My twin sister is the true queen of Aryd. She survives, hiding and clinging to life in the desert, while I reign as the false queen alongside the monstrous King Eidolon. There’s only one escape from this gilded prison: Reven. My Shadowraith. My heart. Only the shadows that he struggles to control are growing more sinister, more powerful.

It’s just a matter of time before they turn on him…and on me.

Even escape doesn't mean true freedom, though, when we're still on the run from Eidolon’s unstoppable armies. And when we discover there’s a traitor among us, I have no choice…I must become the queen I was never meant to be.

Because as one evil hunts me, the other loves me more than himself.

And my fate lies with both."

I could not wait for #2 in the Dominion series. I was so excited to finally get to this one on my TBR!

Owens has a fantastic gift for describing events, settings, people, etc. in such detail that you feel part of the story. It is easy to imagine it so vividly. As with A Liar's Crown, the pacing was fabulous and I COULD NOT stop reading. I may have lost some sleep over this one.

I loved that it picked up exactly where Liar's Crown left off. Owens did such a phenomenal job with worldbuilding.

I cannot wait for #3 and will definitely be promoting this series!

This was a great second installment to the series! I really enjoyed the first book but I think I liked this one even more. Excited to eventually read the 3rd book.

I devoured the first book but this one left me wanting. Picking up with Meren in the clutches of the evil king I got overwhelmed and bored by the constant peril that seemed down right unnecessary. The thing that pulled me in, Meren and Reven, was sorely missing until the end. I feel like the author is pulling from so many other YA/new adult authors that she lost her own voice along the way. I’ll read book three just to see the conclusion but I hope she finds her way back to the story

Not really what i was expecting from the second book tbh. Loved Maren, shes funny, witty ans strong but i didnt felt a lot of chemistry with reven. And on thing that really throws me off in books are, love triangles. That was kinda one of the reasons it didnt really worked out for me.

Well this was so action packed, blink and you might miss something. And that ending! Ack, my heart was in my throat the entire last 10 chapters. And can I just say zombies? Yep, you heard me zombies. Alos you can tell that this author writes adult romances first since the sexual tension and the relationship dynamics were fantastic and had me all tied up in knots hoping certain things would happen...

Overall this was another solid installment in the series, with some great unexpected twists and surprises, and I can't wait for the next book- I hope it is the last even though I love the series because I need answers and I hope for a HEA for these characters that I root for.

I ended up shelving this temporarily to NO FAULT of the book or author. I just realized I’d have quite a bit of wait before the next one is out and I wanna prolong the book hangover LOL

I’m about halfway through the book currently and I am LOVING it. It picks up straight from the beginning and I love that the first part of the book doesn’t feel like a rehash of what happened in the first book like some sequels tend to do.

I throughly recommend this, especially if you love romantasy!

I absolutely LOVED the first book in this trilogy and The Stolen Throne was no exception. This book starts right where the first book left off. The world-building in this series is so so good. It really has me invested in this series and what will happen next. Highly recommend continuing this series if you enjoyed the first book!

I am also dying to get more from the romance and can't wait to see where it goes in the next book.

There is a cliffhanger at the end of this book, so be prepared for that!
