Really fun book! Took some getting used to, but I always already love books with witches and magic, so this one was a good one added to the read collection!

Overall I thought this was a pretty good ending to the series. I liked the first two books and I read this one very quickly. It kept with the cute and cozy vibes while also not feeling redundant or too repetitive. This book was definitely more serious than the other two books but still enjoyable, and I did like knowing what happened to the characters in the end.

Delemhach's "The House Witch 3," a romantic fantasy book, finishes the trilogy. Finlay Ashowan, a house witch, wants nothing more than to settle down with his wife, Lady Annika Jenoure, and live peacefully in Daxaria. His father, Aidan Helmer, arrives with news that Annika's brother Charles has been kidnapped and only Annika or Fin can save him.

The story has many twists and turns to keep readers interested. The author blends romance, magic, courtly intrigue, mystery, and humour into a well-rounded story. The characters are well-developed, and readers will care about them.

Delemhach's smart and hilarious prose is a book highlight. The story's lighthearted tone complements its more serious components. The conversation and character interactions are funny.

Overall "The House Witch 3" is a delightful and satisfying end to the trilogy. Romantic fantasy aficionados will love it, and the sharp humour will appeal to many. Strongly advised.
4/5 Stars from me.

Sometimes we just need something cute and cozy to break up our lives, don't we? The House Witch 3 does just that. In an interesting twist, this is a homely romance where the male character is the lead. While we are introduced to a vast array of background characters, we are yet to explore them deeply, to make them have a little more standing in the story. THW was as predictable as you would expect from a 'cozy fantasy', and if you have any qualms with that kind of thinking - this may not be the book for you. My only real gripe is for something labelled as a comedy and a mystery, it really didn't have much humor or mystique in there. However, heartwarming romantic fantasy, with a touch of crass, it was. I have loved every book of THW - I'm definitely hoping for many more!

The House Witch 3 is the third installment of a cozy fantasy series by Delemhach. Released 28th Feb 2023 by Podium, it's 479 pages and is available in paperback, audio, and ebook formats. For Kindle Unlimited subscribers, this book is currently included in the KU subscription library to borrow and read for free. The other books in the series are also currently available on KU.

This is an impressively long and enthusiastically written fantasy series with a very large cast of characters who all have backstories and long (and often antagonistic) interrelationships. This book feels like it starts uninterrupted in the middle of a paragraph from the last book.

This is absolutely not a series which can be read out of order or as a standalone without being completely lost. The writing is occasionally quite rough and it could have benefited from a more thorough editing process. There are glimpses of a very engaging story, but the writing is not consistent. The story is fundamentally good v. evil with lots of skullduggery and backstabbing and political machination. The characters are more or less paragons or villains without a lot of grey area or overlap.

There are moments of humor throughout, and readers who like magical warfare and sociopolitics with their fantasy will find a lot to like here. It is abundantly apparent that the author has spent a massive amount of time researching and world building both the settings and the characters themselves and it shows.

Three and a half stars. The cover art is gorgeous for all the volumes, and as far as I can tell, it's produced in-house at the publisher.

Disclosure: I received an ARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes.

The House Witch 3 by Delemhach is a more somber installation of the series than the previous books but it still has the magic, mischief, and wit that drew me in to the story. Finlay is a lovable character that I enjoyed rooting for and his familiar, Kraken is my favorite of all time. This book was a bit darker than the others but I enjoyed watching the character arcs and liked the small bits of humor the author injected to keep the mood light in the face of the war and losses. This is a full fantasy series that is so satisfying and I would recommend it to all lovers of magical romance with a bit of mischief mixed in.

The third book in a cosy fantasy series that just keeps on giving!
(Spoilers for the first two books below.)

Finlay Ashowan has settled into his life as the castle cook, but everything is about to change again. His father is leading their old enemy to war on his kingdom, his fiancée is a viscountess he’s not technically allowed to marry, and now everyone knows he’s a witch and expects him to protect the kingdom - when really he just wants to cook and make people happy.

I absolutely adored the first two books and the third was one of my most anticipated books of early 2023. It did not disappoint.
The plot is less low-stakes than in earlier books, but it maintains the same cosy feel overall. The characters remain as wonderful and humorous as ever, and the relationships that have developed across the books so far continue to evolve through this one.

This is probably one of my favourite series at the moment, and I already can’t wait for the next book! If you enjoy cosy fantasy, this series is definitely for you.

The writing is this book is reminiscent of a 9th grade creative writing essay. The conversations are stilted, with a particular aversion to contractions and an extreme obsession with ellipsis. The stylistic choices were tragic, and overall, prevented me from becoming immersed in the story.

This had what I was looking for from the description, it worked well as a fantasy novel. The characters were what I was expecting and I had enjoyed reading this. It worked well with the other two books. Overall this had what I was looking for from the series and glad I got to read this.

"The ship was still damp from the storm that had broken out, but the day that followed was sunny and pleasantly cool. Fin spotted Aidan leaning along the rail, staring out over the murky water as Austice grew farther in the distance. He wore a crisp white tunic with the sleeves rolled up, and black vest with matching trousers, setting him apart from the grubby attire of the majority of the crew."
