Touch of faete
Wow what an amazing deep adventure.
In this book we follow a girl called Ryanne. She look like an ordinary girl to anyone there but in truth she isn't ordinary at all. She can see other creatures and have visions if she touches people sometimes. She also have an annoying little sidekick called Bricius, now Bricius isn't a human, and no one can see him or hear him apart from Ryanne as he is a pixie.
We also follow Titus, Titus had a dark beast inside him, telling him to kill, craving for murder. Titus is also not fully human either, he is a pirate, from a different realm., he misses the old days back on the sea where he could actually be himself, he hates this human modern world where technology and guns have taken over, he longs for his ship and his sword, but he has to please the beast inside him before it takes over fully. He is an important creature with no soul.
Titus bumps into Ryanne and soon finds out she isn't fully human and she is touched by fae, he could fetch a fair price for her so tried to kidnap her, but things don't go according to plan as he soon finds himself in custody of the fae world. Ryanne has to now choose her destiny and path, to help the fae and discover the pirates weakness or go back to a full human life and never see the fae world again.
This book was amazing, I love the description of everything, so you can see and truly appreciate the world around. I love how tense things were, it was a very good flowing read. I wanted to know more, it kept me reading and wondering. The betrayal, romance, adventure and magic within made this a beautiful read

this just wasn't for me. i really tried to push my way through this but ultimately decided not to force myself to read something that i wasn't enjoying.

the fmc felt like a special snowflake and both her inner-monologue and her dialogue with the side characters read as quite immature considering this is an adult novel. i think the book was trying to be humorous with the mc's quips but i thought that the execution fell short and it ended up feeling juvenile.

the side characters seemed superficial and it felt like they were only there to push the plot along. the dynamic between the relationship between the fmc and the mmc began on a pretty cringey note and i was struggling to connect with their potential as a couple.

with peace and love i just don't think i was the target audience for this. if you like a basic fantasy romance with some humor this could work for you, i was hoping for something with a bit more intensity so this missed the mark for me.

thank you to netgalley and the author for my copy of this novel

The beginning of this book was really hard to get into. It seemed all over the place. About halfway through the book I started enjoying it. It had fun world-building, tons of adventure, and development between the characters. I'm looking forward to the next book

Different and interesting. I have never read pirate/fae romance and at first the terms were confusing. It has a slow start and takes a bit into the book for things to be explained but once they are the book takes off! It got so much better with the love interest. Their banter was great. The dual POV created a better experience to understand the full story and the tension that is created between the characters. Has a loveable side character that is fun to read. There is a bit of spice for those who are wondering and overall a great romance story!

I really enjoyed this book, it was an easy read for me. The book was well written and the plot progressed nicely. There weren’t any points where I was not interested in what happens next. I feel like the conflict wasn’t great, which is why it’s only a 3 star for me. But I’m a sucker for a good conflict or cliff hanger and judge harshly on that fact alone. I can’t wait to continue reading this series :)

Good to read if you enjoy stories similar to Peter Pan, Hook, and Wendy.

While I always enjoy a good fae story, this one was a bit hard to get into. I just couldn’t keep up with the story at the beginning, very muddled. It was better as I progressed, but was a difficult start. I also had trouble really rooting for the characters. She seemed very naive and I just wasn’t a fan.

True to the premise, this book is about a girl who is kidnapped by a pirate and taken across the ocean. The story is mainly about their developing love interest, although the beginning (part 1) is focused on world-building and developing the main character.

I really enjoyed part two of this book. There were stakes and developing closeness between the two main characters. Additionally, I loved the little pieces of lore shared throughout the story. I haven't read a fae book with a pooka in it in years, and something about that minor detail (and many others) brought the story and world to life.

The overarching fantasy plot trailed through the book with foreshadowing and a tie-in at the end. The development of the world and fantasy premise sets up a strong plot for book two. For my preference, I preferred further development of the fantasy plot and higher stakes throughout the story. However, this is my preference. The teasing of the romance plot was well done.

This book settles between Y.A. and adult fantasy/romance. Personality-wise, the main character is similar to a Y.A. heroine, while the subject leans toward adult fiction. A broad audience would enjoy this. I recommend this to anyone craving more of the fae world and lore with a straightforward heroine and a morally grey love interest.

❗️Disclaimer: This review isn’t to tell the author that they are bad or not. This review is simply based on my own personal opinions about the book, not the author. I really suggest that you give the book a chance before you form your own opinions and decide if you like it or not. ❗️

At first Touch of Faete seemed like something I would really enjoy but as I read more I had to force myself to continue. I think that this book had a lot of potential but the development wasn’t the best. I’d didn’t enjoy the characters, especially Titus who is the MMC, the relationship between the two of them didn’t grab my attention. The beginning of the book was uninteresting for me and it was hard for me to continue it. In conclusion this book just wasn’t for me and I don’t think I will be continuing this series. But as I said this is all my opinion, I think that everyone should give a book a try before they form opinions about it.

Touch of Faete (Bradaís Pledge #1) - Ligia de Wit
2.75⭐️/5 ~🇪🇸

~I didn't really feel that its full potential was realised. The idea itself was good, it was different, but I wasn't convinced by the development.
~The characters didn't really convince me, because it didn't really get into them, I don't know if I'm making myself clear. The relationship between the two of them didn't convince me either, because there was no evolution. From one day to the next the protagonist realises that she likes him, and the same happens the other way round.
~The first part seemed fast (very rushed), but tedious to read; and although the second part improves because it focuses on the crux, it also happens very quickly.
~Also, I find what Titus did (I can't say because it would be spoilers) too shocking to forgive him in one chapter.
~In general, it seems to me that it needs more extension, more development. It didn't convince me.

Thank you so much to the author and publisher for giving me the opportunity to read this as an ARC.

This book took me for a ride in the best way possible. We open with our FMC Ryanne who is human but has been touched by fae, meaning she has the ability to foresee how events turn out (a seer if you will). We also meet Titus, our MMC who isn't human but also isn't fae. Their meeting sets forth the adventure they set out on and we learn more about each of the characters, their backgrounds, and their abilities as we travel with them.

My initial opinion was that Ryanne was a bit naive in her interactions with Titus but it was kind of a refreshing take. It was a nice way to follow a character as she's trying to navigate a world she has been kept in the dark by and trying to navigate who is telling the truth and who is clouded by bias. Ryanne is an easy character to root for - she's compassionate, kind, and willing to give the benefit of the doubt while also maintaining her reservations and doubts about people/situations.

Titus took a bit of getting used to for me because some of his interactions with Ryanne sounded so old-fashioned but it makes more sense once we get more insight into his background and how he became who he is.

I found myself smiling as I was reading the book. The world-building was so interesting and ethereal, the characters are ones you want to root for, they have their flaws and their redeeming traits. I thought some of the expressions were a bit unique (Bricius is so funny) and finding out that English is not the author's native language was surprising to me because of the way the story flowed.

It did take me a few chapters to get into the characters and the story but once I did, I was thoroughly enjoying the adventure. The story has an open ending which sets the stage for the next book but a major plot point is resolved in this book.

Pirates and Fae come together in a fast moving adventure crossing realms and the high seas. Secrets abound, and not everything is as it appears. Great fun and a bit of romance keep everything interesting.

I received a free ARC, but this review is my honest opinion of the book

Rating: 4.5 stars
Perfect for anyone who loves fae, pirates, pixies, and a bit of romance!
Touch of Faete was the perfect read to get me out of my reading slump. I found the world to be refreshing, and the characters entertaining. I look forward to reading future books from this series and other books from this author!

Characters
The dual POV between Ryanne and Titus suited the story well. Ryanne is a strong-willed heroine who is sweet without being a pushover. I also loved that Ryanne has an adorable sidekick. Titus was swoon-worthy and quite guarded. He was a character with complex motivations, but someone I could empathize with despite his bloodlust. The banter between Ryanne and Titus was entertaining, and the developing relationship between Ryanne and Titus was my favorite part of this book. I can’t wait to get more of them in future books!

World Building & Writing Style
The writing style was good and flowed well. At times, the descriptions could drag, but I still found the story captivating and I definitely stayed up late reading this book.
I found the bradaí and their history with the fae to be fascinating. This book had a lot of unique elements with respect to the fae and their powers. There appears to be a more complex history of the world that I would be interested in exploring in the future.
