Another enjoyable Lyon's Den romance as Anna Toussaint comes under the Black Widow's scrutiny when it is time for Bessie Dove-Lyon to fulfil her promise to Anna's mother. Tasked with finding Anna a husband, the Black Widow takes an unusual approach, which just happens to bring the man who left Anna devastated some years before, standing at the altar and taking their vows, with masks on! Viscount De-Wold not only finds himself with an unwilling bride but one with a deep well of anger. It does not bode well for the future, especially as Anna knows that Frank's mother is going to be appalled when she discovers that her darling son has married the woman she despises. It takes a near tragedy for both Frank and Anna to realize how much they have to lose if their situation is not resolved, and in fact, it takes very little for them to find the path back to each other. Unfortunately, Anna's predictions regarding Frank's mother are realized, but as they have already found out, things can change very quickly. The novel comes to a happy conclusion and Bessie Dove-Lyon once again succeeds in her matchmaking efforts. I received a copy of this entertaining romance as a gift through Dragonblade Publishing and NetGalley and this is my honest and voluntary review.

Mrs. Toussaint is the Honorable Frank Webb's new governess. Smitten by her daughter, Anna, Frank decides she will be his partner learning French. In his pursuit of Anna, they are caught in a compromising position by his mother. Anna and her mother are asked to leave over Frank's protests. For two years, he's looked for the woman he loves with no success, until he enters the Lyon's Den. Always a joy to read another book in this series.
Steam level 3.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book.

Lyon at the Altar is novella-length, second chance at love story set in The Lyon's Den world. Unfortunately, I could not connect to either of the main characters and I did not feel the love blossoming between them - either time. There's lots of attraction leading to loads of steamy scenes, though, and a fairly 'traditional' happy ending.

The Black Widow is matchmaking again and it seems Anna and Frank are the recipients of her skillful maneuverings, much to their surprise. I enjoyed the story and was delighted that their feelings were as strong as ever even if Anna needed a little friendly reminder. This is the story of their journey back to each other even if it were through unconventional means. As always, there is someone not happy for them but this eventually changes. This is a story worth reading. I am waiting for the Black Widow to get her own story but don’t want this to be the end of the Lyon’s Den Connected Works.

I'm sad I didn't love this one. I've really enjoyed some of the other Lyon's Den books, this one just fell short. Part of that may be because I just finished Taming the Rake, which had a lot of the same tropes, but did them in a more compelling way. I think my main problem with this is just that it went to fast. I hit the 60% mark and felt like some of the book was missing. All of the sudden our characters were proposing love! I wanted more buildup and passion between them, not just supposed love.
Thanks to Netgalley for providing a free copy in exchange for an honest review

The Black Widow strikes again! She brings together lovers separated by scandal. Their reunion was not exactly a happy one, but facing danger showed them what was important. Facing a disapproving mother proved to be the fly in the ointment but a grand baby may be just what melts an icy heart. Steamy read about true love.
I received an ARC from Netgalley and leaving my review voluntarily.

This is my first book from this author.. I will say that this is a Very steamy book. As that was not stated in the description I read it. It is 50% in the bedroom and the rest is their story. I like a little more plot in my books but the storyline was solid and did give enough adventures that it was a decent book. Mrs. Dove-Lyon in this book is a very hard and unfeeling woman. Other books in this series cast her in more of a motherly role.
I recieved a free copy so that I might tell you what I honestly think. Hope you enjoyed my review. Now go enjoy the book.

This was an absolutely-delightful, romantic romp. It had all the essential elements that make for a great, historical romance read. The story line was interesting, and the characters were complex and rich with life. I enjoyed this book immensely!

I immediately liked the characters and trope. The story progressed quite fast and kept a good pace throughout. I really expected the animosity to last a little longer between the newly weds and then the dowager. The sex scenes are hot and well-written. Sometimes I think the voicing of their love was a bit much, but overall a great read. I have already downloaded the books of two characters that made an appearance in the story.

Of all the Lyon's Den books I have read so far this one stands out has having a different feel to it. There is still the wager and the quick wedding, but this book starts with multiple chapters about the characters' past. I'm not complaining, just saying that it was different. There were several times that I just felt so bad for Frank because he was being so honest with his feelings and putting himself on the line and Anna just smacked him down every time. I kind of wish that her thoughts on Frank would have changed because she was finally really hearing what he was saying rather than there being a life-or-death situation. Same with his mother finally accepting Anna as Frank's wife - I wish she could have come to do so because she took the time to get to know her rather than being there when she fainted. But, at least both of these ladies put the past behind them and started to focus on the happiness they could claim in the present. The Black Widow works her magic again!

Another Great Lyon’s Den Romance
Anna fell in love with Frank a few years ago only for them to be caught in a compromising position and thrown off the Viscounts estate by his mother.
Once Frank became the Viscount he tried to find Anna but she didn’t want to know. Now in the Lyon’s Den and playing to win the hand of a mysterious lady for his wife both Anna and Frank were shocked when faced with each other.
Frank had always and still did love Anna but proving his love was going to be hard and he knew once they went back to the country, his mother would also be a problem.
A lovely tender love story with some steamy moments and a wonderful HEA!
