First in a new series and I'm so glad that I picked it to read , loved everything about the characters, the world , and especially how the author explains about how there is 2 types of vampires. Will be picking up the second book when I can .

I couldn’t put this down. I loved how this book just grips you right from the start. I literally gasped my way through the first chapter with wide eyes and all sorts of “oh my god, did that really just happen?! A definite excellent read for sure.

I don’t know what I read, but it wasn’t what I was expecting. And and I am still debating what I read. I am truly lost at what I read. And that’s not a good thing. Specially, with a fantasy read.

This was my first Cee Bee book and I just know it won’t be my last. I’m already desperate to get my hands on their next book already.

The concept of this book is so fascinating as we are following two vampires who are over 1,000 years old however one of them doesn't realise that they are over 1,000 years old or a vampire!

I really enjoyed getting into this story and learning about the vampire lore that Cee Bee has created as well as seeing the challenges that they couple will face.

I think where this book is perhaps let down is that it feels incomplete as an individual book because the story only truly starts at the end of the book which leaves it with a horrendous cliffhanger. I desperately need to know what happens next but unfortunately the sequel is not out yet and I believe there are going to be two further books after that in the series.

I am definitely keen to see where this story goes and will continue reading however I would prefer to read the rest of the story at once - and I suspect all 4 books could have been published as a single book if Bauer had desired - as I will be holding off until the series is completely.

I think this book is a fun little vignette and it is telling a story that feels a little bit different that other contemporary vampire stories but I just needed MORE.

Violins and Vampires is the first in a four book mini-series, Vampires of the Daemonverse. While I did enjoy this read, I was expecting a full length book but this felt more like a novella to me. I was also expecting more of an ending, yet the cliffhanger game was very strong with this book so definitely something to read if you are looking for short, spicy books in a series with great world building.

This luscious romance is impossible to stop reading, between all the political intrigue of the vampire mobs and the developing relationship between Lexa and Caelin. This book is perfect for romantasy fans of Emma Hamm's "Heart of the Fae" and Emilia Emerson's "Forbidden" duology.

This book really just took me for a ride. I loved the build up, the character development, and the writing. I would definitely read more from this author!

I was really excited to start this book! However, it left me confused and questioning what the plot of the story was. I was excited for the main characters to finally get together but after 44 chapters, they had barely interacted.

Thank you netgalley and Monster House Books for allowing me to read this book. This book started out very promising but got all jumbled up as time went on. I enjoyed the idea of the book but everything seemed a bit rushed. I do wish the book had been longer so we could have gotten more in depth with the characters and I think things would have been able to flow easier.

Honestly, I’m a sucker for any books about vampires, but this book is just not for me. Every scene seems to be slapped together without any cohesion. There is no sense of flow and the writing felt very clunky and awkward. The writing and narrative also felt very immature that it just became too grating to continue reading.

This is one of those books where the writing is bad but you can't stop reading and you still find some enjoyment and next thing you know, you've read the whole thing.

Is this a literary accomplishment? No.

But was it fun? yes.

If you are someone who understands that books don't need to be masterful to be fun, give this a shot.

I really like getting out of my comfort zone and this book is one of those. So when I requested it, I was hoping to read a book like this one and maybe for it to have some sort of wow factor that made me like it a bit more.
It didn't. This does not mean I didn't like it, it just did not make me excited, that's all.
So, would I recommend this book? Yes, if you like a mix between vampires and mafia. That is what it sells and what it gives.
Now, I'm going to focus on several aspects of the book.
I want to focus on the beginning because I wasn’t expecting it to start that way, honesty. The first three chapters were my favourites, the world it describes, the rules of vampires and their court. I don't know why, but I wanted more from that time, I really do.
Once it goes to the present, the dynamic changes. The characters are the same, but they have changed over time (at least 500 years have passed for sure) and they have other challenges to face. So, let's talk about characters. The protagonist, Lexa, feels too intelligent in many things but soooo dense in others. This makes sense with context that I will not give to avoid spoilers, but I think it just was too obvious that she did not to actually think about it. I mean, there are so many times you can say: I push it at the back of my mind. Like, yes, she has a situation going on (poor girl, honestly. I hope in the following books she becomes a strong badass), but she is still avoiding it with the same excuse. Oh, and about her sister, I want to read more about her. I like her and how observant she is. So I hope these two characters come out of their shell and can fend for themselves, because I feel like they could be really strong characters if they do.
About Caelin. I need him to be happy. It just broke my heart when that thing happened (if you know, you know). So I'm looking forward to seeing how this new situation gives him hope, because he is gentle but fierce when in need. I really want to see that process/evolution. On the other hand, Konstantin. He is funny, I like him. Not that much to say.
About the plot. The plot twists at the end are very obvious. Like, you know almost from the beginning. But I have to say that I liked what happened with the Gray Woman, even if again is obvious. Still, she is planning something and I honestly do not get what she is up to.
To sum up, it is a book about vampires, mafia, romance and not much else. There are some interesting characters that I hope they evolve over the series. And overall, since it's easy to read and to follow, it was entertaining, which is the main purpose of a book. It didn't amaze me, but it was okay.

It was very hard to get into, as the first half of the book was pretty convoluted and raised too many questions, more than it could answer. It seemed like the author was relying a lot on the scottish part of storytelling (the way people talked) and it was not very engaging otherwise.
I will not post a public review, as I lost interest pretty early, and only kept reading to give the book a fair chance, but I did not enjoy it.

Where do I begin with this book?? It had so much potential, ruined with a clear lack of editing and a poor writing style. This was originally a web-series and YOU CAN TELL. No issue with it being such but when I read a novel I expect novel quality and some editing. The first chapter begins with a character describing themselves randomly to us, without any reasons. And I absolutely hate when characters introduce themselves at the beginning of the novel (except if it serves the writing style, which this didn’t do AT ALL). On top of that, the dialogues were terrible, like the author had never talked to a si gee human being in their entire life. They were written like you write a character thinking, not how real humans do with each other (you wouldn’t repeat 3 times a plot element out loud so the reader can catch on it and it just seems like you’re taking me for an absolute idiot). Very pretty cover, very meh content.

This book had me hooked since the very second I opened it. I could not seem to put this down. It was so intriguing and the writing style was top notch. I can’t wait enough for the next instalment already!!

Well HOT DAMN, did I not LOVE every page! This was phenomenal, I love every twist and turn and my goodness the storyline just keeps evolving. The characters are fantastic and I am trying really hard to freak since it is a bit of a cliffhanger, uuuggghhhhhh. I am beyond anxious to read what comes next!

Violins and Vampires by Cee Bee is a fabulous fantasy that combines old with new and creates a surreal urban feel. Lexa visits the Gray Woman, a mystical witch, with the hopes of healing her sisters bloodline curse. When the witch agrees to help and Lexa wakes up in modern times she has an uneasy feeling that her dreams are more than they seem. She ends up working with Caelin, a Scottish mogul who hides a dark, ancient secret. Their chemistry is impeccable and I enjoyed the "hallucination scenes" they shared. This fantasy messes with your mind in a mix of old country and new age points of view. The fated mates and sister's keeper tropes work well with the plot and things stay spicy and fast moving after an initial slow start. I'm very interested in seeing where this series goes.

The story premise was bland, the romance was nonexistent. The errors in the books, well too many. This should have been edited before being released. Really I don’t understand how this author can keep writing with her novels being unfinished before release.

First of all say that I like vampires, but I feel that this book did not work for me. The way it's written it can't possibly be adult genre, this is definitely YA.

There is a mix between vampires and mafia, and a continuous change of time, added to a huge number of characters, which makes the plot confusing and boring. I wish the structure would have been better.
Also there is no great character development. In the plot there is an 11-year-old girl who is the mature part of the book compared to the adults (which is not credible).

A book with a promised plot, but in my case did not worked.
