It's been years since I read the first book. I've been wanting to tackle my old ARCs and figured there was no time like the present. Even being book two I jumped into this one knowing the general gist from book one and if I'm being honest I was not expecting a whole lot out of this book. Why? Because there really isn't much story going on. Sex though, it's literally everywhere and this book is swimming in it. Basically this is an dystopian/apocalyptic world where locations are split into territories and Dallas O'Kane (the hero) just happens to be the leader of one. Lex (the heroine) has helped Dallas build their territory from the ground up. But both of them have never admitted having actual feelings and honestly they really didn't throughout the book either, it's so much easier to communicate without clothes. They're really just insanely obsessed with each other and finally Lex takes charge and gets Dallas's name tattooed on her letting him know her intentions plain and simple. Now while the MC's are together, this world is very sexual. Like to the point where orgies are the norm more than literally anything else happening. You can't turn a corner/page without someone getting it on. The MC's are together but they also like to join in with their friends or have friends join in and while this was hot as hell and worked for them this is not something I'm sure many readers would enjoy. There is no shyness here and everything is laid bare-LITERALLY. Again I didn't find much plot happening. Dallas is on his way to adding more territories and Lex is caught in the middle of Dallas and her past. There were also a bunch of chapters from the POV's of other side characters. I didn't love this and even though it helped me get to know more people I wished the story would focus on the main two before jumping into drama with other characters who haven't had their story time yet. Ok read but definitely makes normal smut hide in the corner.

Beyond Control was a smashing continuation of the Beyond series by Kit Rocha. I loved Dallas and Lex from the first book and couldn't wait to read more about them in this title. Their journey is wrought with danger, distrust, and an undeniable passion. This post-apocalyptic world continues to expand with more characters and plot-lines that promise to be just as addictive as these first ones. Sexually charged relationships, multifaceted characters, a world that will grab you, and stellar writing are just a few things that you'll find in Beyond Control - a must read!
