Absolutely loved this book so much, I’ve been on many coach trips myself abc I love the series coach trip and it was like a combination of the two, all my best memories, full of fun and humour, so many mad unbelievable things occur on coach trips it’s why I love them and this book just encapsulates everything I love. I’ve been on trips where me and my mate were the only young ones and trust me those ladies had more life and energy than either of us, it was one of the loveliest and funniest memories of my life and this book just brought back so many memories. Absolutely fantastic read

Emma is a bit disorganised, and thanks to a Valentines Day blunder, she owes her friend Mel the best birthday party ever.

But, she's also promised her Gran that she will accompany her on a coach trip on the same weekend. Emma can't let either down so they merge the two.

I liked the premise of a couple of younger ladies joining a pensioners coach trip, made up mainly of septuagenarians. As can be predicted there was a bit of a culture clash with young vs old and hostility towards one another, but can they see things from their adversaries' point of view?

Like some other readers I found Mel insufferable. Holding a grudge with Emma and being snipy and mean to the fellow coach trippers.

The end annoyed me, I can't quite put my finger on it, but I thought it dragged. And ended on a downer which came as a surprise from what I expected to be a relatively lighthearted read.

The book does make you think more about the experiences of other people, and I could see my Nan in the stories of the older members of the coach trip. There's an element of ageism, but that felt true to life and the assumptions that people make in many ways.

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC.

Loved this book easy to read and laugh out loud humour.
Emma and her friend decide to join Emma`s gran on a coach trip to Edinburgh to help scatter her granddad's ashes
Loved the characters and how they developed through the book.
Been to all these places so brought back memories for me.
Full of humour and if this is what it`s like on a OAP coach trip I`m booking next week!
Definitely recommend

I did enjoy this book and found it an easy read. I didn’t like the friendship Emma and Mel had, found myself disliking Mel the more the book went on.

I didn’t find the book overly gripping and memorable.

I enjoyed that they all made friendships throughout the trip and the story with Gloria and Keith.

I loved this story of 2 young flatmates Emma and Mel who in a twist of fate ending up going on a pensioners trip to Edinburgh. Emma promises her grandma she will go on the trip that grandma was going to take with her dead husband so she can’t let her down. She double-books her friends' birthday celebrations.

I love the relationships the girls build with the old people who they realise they have more in common with than they first thought. A lovely tale of friendship written in a very humourous way.

Thank you to Netgalley for an advance copy of this title.

The blurb for this book enticed me in and it was an enjoyable read.
The story centres around two late 20’s women who end up on a coach trip full of older passengers.
I liked the travelling element of the story as it’s nice to read of tourist spots and while it was a little ageist in parts (on both sides) it was still a warm read that made me smile.
Of course in the end the ladies realise that older people aren’t quite so ‘boring’ after all.
Overall I enjoyed the book as it was quite a feel good read and I would definitely pick up the authors next book.

A heartwarming story about young adults and pensioners on a coach trip to Scotland. Each age group having preconceptions about the other.

Emma messed up her friend Mel’s Valentines and promises her a fabulous birthday to make up for it. She also offers her grandma to go on a coach trip with her in place of her granddad who died recently. Then she realises that the birthday falls into the time she is away with her grandma. So she asks Mel if she fancies a coach trip to Edinburgh. She does and so the adventure begins. Two twenty-something with a group of pensioners on a bus.

I loved reading this book and how preconceptions about retired people (and youngsters) are easily made, but when you look a little deeper you find understanding and even friendship. I thought it was well written and very empathetic. The main characters were well described and at times I felt I was on the bus with them.

I didn’t have high hopes of this book but I really enjoyed it. It was lighthearted and jogged along at a good rate. I was a bit irritated by the reference to old people probably because I am heading in that direction! Good page turner.

I loved this book - it has me laughing one minute and nearly in tears the next. A heartwarming, funny, yet poignant story which was easy to read and perfect for anyone that doesn't like long chapters. I really took to our main character Emma and I feel almost sad that I won't get to find out more about how she gets on.

Emma Lewis lives in Leeds and is our protagonist in this novel. She forgot a valentines day surprise for he best friend Mel, but says 'I'll make it up to you'. So tells her she will plan a girlie weekend in Edinburgh over her birthday weekend.

Grandma-Phyllis, had made arrangements to go to Edinburgh on her 50th wedding anniversary in March -to sprees his ashes by the sea, so Emma suggests they go together. But then she realises it's on same weekend as her get away with Mel!
But Mel suggested they all go together.
But on the coach the girl are the youngest by 40 years.

Glorious array of elderly passengers that are on the trip
Gloria ,Arthur, Rita and Derek- the matching couple, Angela and Ian Frank and Vivienne Anderson
'Their a peculiar bunch' states Mel about her travelling companions.

The trip takes from Leeds to York, Durham, Alnwick, Bamburgh, Berwic upon -Tweed and Edinburgh.

They may start out as stranger- and are labelled by the youngs girls as 'miserable and unpleasant... septuagenarians' but they get to know each other the five days of the trip. All show empathy for one another at the vert end. Emma states that 'We've come a long way since Monday, not just geographically but also in our understanding of one another'.

Thanks to NetGalley and the publishers for giving me a complementary digital copy of this ebook in exchange for a full, frank and honest review. All opinions expressed are completely my own.

When Emma messes up best friend Mel’s Valentine surprise, she promises to make it up to her, with a birthday weekend in Edinburgh. But when she also agrees to a coach trip with her Gran, a mixup with dates means they all end up together. How will Mel cope with a coach load of senior citizens?

The Coach Trip takes you on a journey, not just around the cities of Northern England, but through Emma and Mel’s understanding and acceptance of their older companions. As they travel north, visiting many picturesque locations - all delightfully described - the idiosyncrasies of the passengers become clearer and more agreeable. I have to say that Gloria was a rather obvious character, and her activities were predictable. But even so, the enjoyment of the story was great.

Entertaining, enjoyable and educational all in one book!

I was sent a copy of The Coach Trip by Izzy Bromley to read and review by NetGalley. This is a delightful summer holiday read that also makes you reconsider your first impressions of others. It is well written, humorous, and full of insight into human nature. There’s not much else to say really, but if you want an easy, fun, and enjoyable novel then you can’t go far wrong with this one!

By no means does this book reinvent the wheel but then I did not want or expect it to. Light and funny this book will give you exactly what you ask for.

An easy to read, entertaining story, just right for a sunny day in the garden, long soak in the bath or just to distract yourself from day to day woes. It should appeal to the young and more mature people and hopefully for those who read it allow a little more tolerance by the young for the more mature and vice versa. I would recommend this for a very unchallenging reading experience but not quite for a reading group to discuss.
Thank you for the A.R.C.

Emma is something of a scatterbrain & feels she has let down her friend Mel on more than one occasion. She intended to make up for her last mess up by arranging something special for Mel's birthday however she'd promised her Grandma she'd accompany her on a trip to scatter her Grandad's ashes. Selling Mel on a coach trip full of buff travellers they end up on a coach with a group of seniors! Mel is not exactly thrilled & at first the company irritates them both. As the trip heads North up the East Coast they get to know these miscellaneous characters, their stories & their struggles. By the time they get to Edinburgh both the old & the young have learnt a lot.

This really was a lovely story. The characters were wonderful & I thought the way the author made the girls see that getting old may not be for softies but everyone has a story. Thanks to Netgalley & the publisher for letting me read & review this heart warming book.

Emma is wondering how she can possibly handle being on a coach trip with her grandmother, her good friend Mel and a coach load of pensioners. But it’s amazing what you can learn about life through the perspective of others. A charming and heartwarming read!

What a wonderful heartwarming and witty story.
As Mel's birthday approaches her best friend Emma decides to go all out on a trip away.
Unfortunately Emma has completely forgotten that she also agreed to go on a coach trip with her grandmother who has recently lost her husband.
So two twentysomethings end up on a week long road trip with a very mature group of people!
Izzy Bromley has made what could have been an ordinary book into something quite special as we have a group of 20 odd people including the tour guide and bus driver that make such a memorable road trip. I really want to tag along for the ride!
