Super fast paced which means I read it really quickly, dual POV. Both characters have secrets, but it wasn't anything special or no super big twist though it made for a fun in between read.
Thanks to St. Martin's press and Netgalley for an eARC in exchange for an honest review.

I really enjoyed this read! It had a unique feel to it and I loved all the twists. I thought the manipulation with all the characters made this book difficult to put down.

Michele Campbell does it again. I love a good crime thriller. The two main characters lives remain parallel for so many year, when they converge everything pops off.

A legal thriller with many twists, turns, unreliable narrators, and shady characters, Michele Campbell’s latest novel is a complex thriller of a book. Following ambitious Harvard Law student Madison as she takes a class and an internship with her idol Judge Kathryn Conroy, Madison finds that there is a lot of history and trauma attached to her new internship and that her idol, professor, and boss is not entirely who she seems to be. This novel is heavily character-driven, with a host of dynamic, complex characters filling the pages, and Madison and Judge Conroy in particular dominate the pages and the reader’s attention. Conroy draws attention to their many similarities, and readers will also find themselves enthralled by the two perspectives and the complexities of both characters’ motivations, relationships, and lives. This book is fantastic for those readers who want strong female leads and a darkly complex thriller (with a dash of legalese and courthouse drama), and Campbell certainly delivers on all fronts. A book like The Intern will draw readers in and hold them for the entirety of the book, and readers will lose themselves in the high stakes and emotional tensions of Madison, Judge Conroy, and the rest of the novel’s cast.

I really enjoyed this! 3.75 stars.
The beginning started quite slow and a little underwhelming. I wasn’t sure where it was going to go and it wasn’t keeping my attention. But 2/3 of the way, it picked up. Lots of themes, drama, complex characters, and decisions. I do think there could have been more of a character development. It seemed to go from black to white. But I’m the end, I would recommend this!

The intern is a fast paced thriller that will keep you interested from the first chapter.
Madison is a law intern working with the judge Kathryn. They both have very dark and dangerous secrets.
Madison's brother is in trouble. Can the judge help her?
You won't want to miss this thriller. It is a nail biter and I was hooked from the start.

Okay this cover immediately grabbed me and I was totally invested as soon as I read the synopsis. I loved the connection between a law student and her finding out about potential corruption and trying to get to the bottom of it without putting herself in trouble. As someone who’s husband went through law school and being with him throughout his journey, I really appreciated the authors authenticity to the book and it definitely seemed like they did their research on what law students go through during school. I loved how fast paced this book was and it just kept me wanting more and more. I loved the dual POV of Kathryn and Madison because I feel like it just helped the reader understand everything that was going on through both sides. Overall, this is definitely one that kept my interest and I enjoyed reading! Definitely one I would recommend!

I hadn’t read a mob related legal thriller in a while. This one was a fun way to get back into that trope.
Madison’s loyalty to her troubled brother has her putting her own law degree at risk to protect him. An internship with her law professor/judge, proves to be more than she bargained for, as her professor is hiding so much about her life and career.
Cover ups, corruption, and plans of escape, this book employed all of this to hold my interest. I love it when a plan comes together! Good read!

This book was just too slow for me. I found myself not caring about the mystery and any of the characters.

This is the kind of high-adrenaline page-turner that captures you from the opening chapter and doesn’t let go. I felt breathless cover to cover, captivated by the characters, the intrigue, the suspense, and the mystery. So enjoyed it.

Madison Rivera is in law school and is ecstatic about landing an internship working for Judge Kathryn Conroy. The only problem is Kathryn Conroy is the judge on her brother Danny's case. Danny has gotten into some deep trouble and all of a sudden goes missing. Is Judge Kathryn Conroy someone that can help her or someone she can't trust?
I had put the audiobook on hold and when it became available, I tried it out and immediately got sucked in. I alternated between reading the book and listening to the audiobook and recommend reading the book both ways. We also get to hear both Kathryn and Madison's point of view throughout the story, both strong female leads.
This is a fast-paced legal thriller that will immediately pull you out of a reading slump! I will definitely be checking out more of Michele Campbell's books in the future.

The Intern was a wild ride of a legal thriller. The characters, the way the plot developed, the twists, all of it had me hooked. I felt as though I flew through this one. Though I guessed a few of the twists I did not see the end coming. The dual time lines and the character development were quite enthralling but I was a little let down by the ending as I felt as though I was left wanting more. I could absolutely see this being made into a TV mini series or movie.
Thank you to Netgalley and St. Martin’s Press for the opportunity to read this in exchange for my honest opinion.

The Intern is a page turning nail biter with a mysterious cat and mouse plotline in which the reader has no idea who the actual protagonist is. The story is expertly crafted and clever as all of Campbell’s books are and filled with shocks and suprises.
Harvard Law student Madison Rivera has worked hard to achieve her goals. Having come from a dysfunctional, poor family with her brother facing prison time for drug charges, all she really wants is to help save him and give her mother the peace she deserves.
So, when one of her professors, a highly respected judge who Madison has looked up to for years, Judge Kathryn Connoy asks her to intern in her law office as a law clerk because she suddenly has an opening, she jumps at the chance. But quickly, Madison discovers there could be a problem. The judge is overseeing her brother’s court case. And her brother insists he’s being framed and the judge in the case is in on it. So, Madison must make a decision and decides to lie to the judge and tell her she is an only child so she can truly investigate the claims.
But they are both keeping secrets. Kathryn has not told Madison that she is being manipulated by a mob because of the information she has about a murder many years ago. Kathryn’s well-connected family will not let her go and threaten her constantly.
As Madison discovers some of the judge’s secrets, she unfortunately becomes a target in this who should we believe thriller which is part murder mystery and part suspenseful crime story.
With both of them holding back from each other, and the FBI breathing down Kathryn’s back and goons trying to manipulate Madison, the stakes are even higher. And then Madison discovers Kathryn’s last secret.
Now they have to trust each other or die together! What has Madison gotten herself into?
The Intern will have you on the edge of your seat, questioning everything you are learning and every character you are meeting. What a ride!

Thank you Netgalley & publisher for this e-arc of The Intern by Michele Campbell.
This is a thriller-mystery novel. 3.5*; one unique aspect was this was a legal thriller with a judge and student MC's.
Synopsis: "A young Harvard law student falls under the spell of a charismatic judge in this timely and thrilling novel about class, ambition, family and murder.

As the two women circle each other in a dangerous cat-and-mouse game, will they save each other, or will betrayal leave one of them dead?."
Things I liked:
1. Genre
2. Law student/judge Mc's and dynamic
3. Not knowing what was going on
Things I disliked (if you can call it that):
1. Pace
2. I like more thriller and less mystery in my reads
3. I would like more details at the end
Type of read: Thriller, Mystery, Fiction, Suspense, Legal Thriller, Contemporary
The authors' background makes her perfect for this type of novel.

I've enjoyed a few of this author's books. This one is right up there with those. Once I started it and didn't want to put it down. It's a page turner. A legal thriller but not in the courtroom. Behind the scenes.
Madison Rivera is a very smart Harvard Law School student. She's always on top of everything. Smart and willing to work hard. When her professor, Judge Kathryn Conroy, asks her to apply for an internship she's over the moon excited. She has always idolized Judge Conroy. Ever since she saw her give a speech at the Catholic school they both attended. Madison decided then that she wanted nothing more than to be a lawyer.
Madison applies and gets the internship but is concerned because of the trouble her bother is in jail for. Also the fact that Judge Kathryn Conroy was the judge in Danny's case. His lawyer it seems is crooked as were some of the cops involved. Danny is in some very serious trouble but Madison kept it from the Judge when she applied for the internship.
Just when it seems she might get a chance to tell Kathryn about Danny, Madison is asked to house/cat sit for Kathryn. Something happens that causes Madison to rethink a lot of things. Is Kathryn really such a good judge or is she bought by someone. Does she possibly know who Madison is, or who her brother is. What is going on here.
This story is told from each of these women's POVs and goes back to when Kathryn was a small child. You get a good look into how Kathryn became who she is now and why. Also how Madison became who she is. You'll get to know each of these women. I rooted for them both even though knowing some of the things I know. Well read. I liked them both. Some of the back characters I didn't care for at all. But they all played a huge part in this explosive book about an Intern...
Thank you #NetGalley, #MicheleCampbell, #StMartinsPress for this ARC. This is my own true thoughts about this book.
Five big stars and a very high recommendation.

This book will make you think of who you will hire as your intern and make you double check again and again! What a great book! Addicted from page 1!

Michele Campbell’s The Intern features two strong women in a game of cat and mouse that will leave you breathless as they face off against each other. Madison has admired Judge Katherine Conroy since seeing her talk at her school. Following in Conroy’s footsteps, she is now a student at Harvard Law School. She is even thrilled to be taking a class taught by Conroy. Offered an internship at Conroy’s law firm, she is afraid that she will lose the opportunity if they find out that her brother was arrested on rug charges. Danny swore he was innocent, yet pleaded guilty. On a visit to the prison, he warns her not to try and help him. He was set up by a crooked cop, his lawyer knew the arresting officer and the judge was working with them. That judge was Conroy. As Madison works for her she is determined to look into Danny’s case. When Madison is caught in a lie on her application, Conroy uses it to her advantage and begins making demands on her that could implicate her in illegal actions. Madison is suddenly being followed and there are threats against her life.
Is Conroy the corrupt judge that Madison suspects? Campbell paints the picture of a child whose Uncle Ray helped support her, paid for her education and paved the way for her appointment to her position. Ray was connected to organized crime and his generosity had to be repaid under the threat of death. Her relationship with Madison could either help her achieve freedom or find one of them dead. Fans of legal thrillers will find this impossible to put down. I would like to thank NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press o providing this book or my review.

A young Harvard law student falls for an internship with a judge that leads her into troubled waters. The book has love, murder, and family issues. One of these ladies get in serious trouble and bo6 are trying to protect each other. This book will leave you on the edge of your seat. A really good read.

The Intern by Michelle Campbell was a bingeable thriller because you are trying to figure out what exactly is happening. If you like legal thrillers with a bit of cat and mouse, then you should read this book! This is my first book by her, but not my last.

Madison is excited to be selected to be an intern in the office of Kathryn, a judge she has idolized for years. Judge Kathryn inspired Madison to pursue a career in law, but she soon wonders if this placement is cursed. Madison finds a link between the judge & her incarcerated brother. She is also invited to house sit and care for the judge’s cat while she’s away. A strange visitor while house sitting leaves Madison with a mounting heap of questions. What should have been an influential internship becomes a race to survive. If she can figure out who to trust she just might save her life. Thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin’s Press for this ARC. This is my honest review.
