I'm a huge fan of Michele Campbell's books! I couldn't wait to read this one. Thank you to Net Galley for making this possible. I will tell you this one did not disappoint! And OH, that Intern, keep your eyes open! I love a great book that grabs you and keeps you reading to discover what will happen next. I will definitely recommend this to my "thriller" friends.

Michele Campbell always writes a good thriller and this one did not disappoint. Clerking for a judge is supposed to be a prestigious thing but this mentorship turns dark, twisted and dangerous. (I don't want to say more lest riun it for the reader!)
So, pick up this book, read it and recommend it to EVERYONE .. and if Christmas or Hannukah rolls around and you don't know what book to gift...chose this one! Highly recommended.

I have been anxiously waiting for this book for a long time, so I tore through it as soon as I got it. Michele Campbell hit it out of the park with this one. Told from dual points of view from Madison, an ambitious law student, and Kathy Conroy, Harvard professor and respected judge, this book is all about power, ambition, and most of all, the things we do for family.
When Madison is approached by her idol Judge Conroy to work as her intern, she can't believe her luck. She's dreaming of a corner office, expensive clothes, and moving up in the professional world. So when the judge is interviewing her, Madison, in a moment of panic, tells the judge that she has no siblings. The problem is she does have one, a brother Danny who has been arrested for a serious drug charge that he insists he didn't commit. Madison gets the internship and is now wondering how to tell the judge about her lie when a more serious problem arises: her beloved idol is rumored to be corrupt.
The dual points of view beautifully showed the parallels in two very different lives and made the book very much character driven. However, that doesn't mean the plot suffered; while it didn't move at breakneck speed, layers were uncovered one at a time, each one so shocking that I was compelled to keep reading. While an entertaining read, this was very much a story of both deception and redemption. Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martins Press for this coveted early read. THE INTERN will publish October 3, 2023.

Rounded up to 3.5 stars.
Started out a bit repetitive and clunky in execution but picked up about 40% in and stayed interesting and quite strong to the end. Told from two different viewpoints and timeframes, the pace and ending were generally good. I was pleasantly surprised after the problematic start, in my view, to the book.
Thanks to St. Martinโs Press and Netgalley for this complimentary copy. All opinions are my own.

Madison wants nothing more than to be a successful lawyer. She currently attends Harvard, and when her professor and idol, Kathryn Conroy, asks her if she's interested in an internship, she is more than happy to apply. Her brother, Danny, has been arrested for a crime that he says he didn't commit and everyone one is lying. When Madison finds out that Judge Conroy is part of it, she decides to do some digging. Will she find out her idol is part of a corrupt world?
I've been reading Michele Campbell's books since 2017 and I have loved them all. THE INTERN was a real interesting one. I really enjoyed these characters and the different situations they were caught up in. Kathryn didn't have the best start during her childhood and found herself involved in much more than she bargained for. Madison found herself stuck between helping her family and her dream of becoming a lawyer. I thought the story ended perfectly and I can't wait until her next book.
Many thanks to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for my ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Okay this book officially creeped me out, but in a totally good way. I couldnโt wait to see what happened next!

Michele Campbell has done it again!
There's absolutely nothing I didn't enjoy here as this grabs your attention from the start and continues to excel at rapid fire pace.
There's twist, turns, and all out war on the homefront with tons of intrigue and suspense for the action packed thriller fans.
I'm a huge fan of Campbells because she keeps it constantly flowing, presents characters that are lively and colorful, and always has a plot thicker than gravy!
The Intern was right up my alley having worked as an intern in the Luzerne County Public Defender's Office as a young snapper.
The fact that Judge Kathy has some secrets up her sleeve is just as enticing as the intern's involvement in seeking help for her brother Danny.
Could this judge be involved in corruption?
Could there be more to these cases that connect them especially with the Judge's immediate family involved?
A cop named Charlie Wallace is also in play here with plenty to offer up and that last name Wallace is one you might want to keep and eye on as we have another case involving Edward Wallace which plays a crucial role in all this madness.
Houses are being broken into and there's tons of clues ripe for the pickin.'
Loved it!!!
Thank you for the ARC in exchange for this honest review!

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the copy of The Intern by Michele Campbell. I loved how this book started out great because Madison was an interesting character and I really liked her. That kind of changed when her first lie made me roll my eyes, because WHY lie? This turned out to be a dual POV story, and Kathrynโs was not compelling. It took so long to explain what led to current events that I got bored.
I loved the idea of this story better than the execution. This is probably the book for you if you love to be kept guessing and love drama with a tidy ending. It was a decent read, but not great for me.

What an amazing thriller! This is the type of Intern you will definitely need to keep an eye on! A true page turner.

Thank you #NetGalley and #StMartins for choosing me to review #TheIntern by #MicheleCampbell. I was already a fan of Micheleโs books and this one did not disappoint either. Loved the drama between the main characters. I did not want to put the book down. Highly recommend.

Heart pounding thriller that left me on the edge of my seat. I thoroughly enjoyed reading this one. Definitely one of the best books this year.

I was second guessing who to trust until the very final chapters, and that makes for a great thriller! I absolutely loved the way this was written and I was never bored. Each page had me wanting to know what happened next, I couldnโt put it down. The epilogue felt like it gave a good amount of closure for our characters as well, which is something I always love to see. This is a quick read that I would recommend for many many readers! Itโs not super graphic or dark, but it has plenty of suspense and intrigue. A great read!
Thank you to the publisher for the ARC.

I really hoped Iโd enjoy this one more than I did, Iโve never read from Campbell before but the synopsis sounded really good! I usually enjoy plots involving internships and law so this shouldโve worked for me.
it started off strong as we get to know Madison and her background, and I was hooked as she begins the internship with Kathryn, the judge, under an important false pretense. the book unfortunately started losing me when we started getting more of Kathrynโs side, and it turned into a mob type of plot, which is something I donโt really enjoy in thrillers. Kathryn was also a very confusing character to follow at times; for such a prestigious judge, she seems to act impulsively and behaves quite unprofessionally (understandable given her background and what she is trying to protect, but still feels like a reach for a person with this character to be so respected). also, did DoorDash sponsor this book because the amount of times itโs mentioned hereโฆ.
overall not a win for my personal taste but it was still a pretty fast paced book, so Iโm sure others will enjoy it more than I did!

I usually can't get into any legal courtroom type genre but I really enjoyed reading this one! This book was awesome! It had high suspense, action, murder, intrigue, mystery, mobsters, bad guys, and bad guys that were kind of good! There was some great sleuthing action going on! The storyline was so very interesting! It definitely kept me glued to my Kindle and had my heart racing! I highly recommend reading this book as it was well worth reading! Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for sharing this book with me!
