I love Shari Lapena and I loved this read…until I didn’t. It was fast paced, intriguing, and bingeable until the big reveal. I love having to suspend my disbelief but I just couldn’t in this situation. Explaining that would be a significant spoiler, unfortunately, so you will just have to take my word for it.

Okay I loved this book!! Averys character was very fun to follow. The entire neighborhood was fascinating. I love Shari Lapenas writing and this didn't disappoint. I LOVED the ending. It made me so happy. I really enjoyed the entire thing and it kept me guessing the entire time.

Thank you netgalley for the earc in exchange for an honest review.

This multi-POV novel brings you into the neighbourhood - where everyone is safe. Until Williams daughter goes missing, right after he was the last person to see her and was enraged with her when she came home from school early. William had lots of secrets to hide, so who took Ella?

This was my first book of Lapena’s. And I am hooked already. This book was a breeze to read because you were always on your toes trying to solve the mystery before you finished the book. I loved the different points of view and how it evolved the book. The shorter chapters alway made putting the book away difficult. I would recommend this to the thrill seeker and mystery lover! And give us a 4.5/5 stars. I would recommend this to my people in my circle!

Shari Lapena does it again with another fast paced domestic thriller. The storyline hooked me right from the beginning and this whodunit keeps you guessing. The ending did reveal I was right on the culprit but the reason was what shocked me. The only reason for my lack of star is that I don’t like when endings leave you wondering.
Overall, a must read! I am already looking forward to her next book.

I enjoyed this more than I expected. Lots of liars, and their lies impact the rest of the characters. Most of the way through the book you know who didn't do it, but not who did do it. A good mystery. Recommended.

This was a thriller that had me hooked from the first chapter! The title of book rings true: everyone is lying, everyone is trying to protect themselves or their family, and everyone has good reasons for doing so. An exciting thriller with a fast-paced plot, that makes you feel uncomfortable but in the best way.

I would like to start off by thanking NetGalley. Doubleday Canada and Shari Lapena for the ARC in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are that of my own and have not been influenced by others.

Wow. Wow really, this was one of those novels that you can say ended with a bang! Did anyone elses ears literally ring???

The metaphor: roller-coaster ride, has never been so fitting, not quite like it does with Shari Lapenas' "Everyone Here Is Lying" and just when you think the ride has come to an end, there's that last stomach in your throat, jaw dropping reveal. You will think you "definitely figured it out" but I can guarantee that you have not - not unless you've came across spoilers, of course 😉.

I found engulfed in this highly intensive read and loved every second of it. This is the suspense of suspense 😳

This book most definitely had its fair share of twists and turns. Kept me on my toes for the duration of the read. However, I will say that there were too many added-on characters and too many red herrings for me to fully enjoy the narrative. The ending though was quite a shock as what we first perceived a character to be a victim, was in fact a villain character, the whole time…makes you think.

Thank you to Penguin Random House Canada and NetGalley for an advance e-copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

I have so many Shari Lapena novels on my TBR list but have yet opened one up, which is a loss for me if they are as good as this one was.

The Title says it all, "Everyone Here is Lying", because every character in this story is lying through their teeth.
This is the kind of storyline that I love! Trying to decipher who is lying, why and how they'll get caught in the lie.
William Wooler comes home early to find his 9 year old daughter home from school when she is supposed to be in an after school activity, later to walk home with her older brother. After a confrontation with Avery, William leaves the house and later is informed by his wife that Avery has gone missing and can't be found. Once the police arrive and begin questioning the family, William tells them that he has not seen her since that morning. Here is the first lie used by William to cover up another lie to cover his earlier whereabouts. From here the lies are whipping through the air like some flock of birds with nowhere to land. Everyone in the neighborhood has their own reasons for lying, starting a landslide of events.
The story is told in a way that we can see the lies unfolding and why they were told in the first place as we read along. What you don't see is an ending that has you wondering just who was playing who, which will leave you questioning the untold future events of the characters.

Great read with lots of suspense!

I kept seeing this book everywhere and it was getting rave rave reviews, so I knew I had to check it out. I am SO GLAD I did, because it was just as intense, absorbing and wild as everyone had promised.

I LOVE the way this story was crafted - around a missing kid and a community where everyone knows everyone, and where more and more clues will come to the surface - but with no way to know what is true and what is just slightly left of the truth.

No spoilers here, but I will say that I read this entire book the course of one morning because I HAD TO know how it would all play out. It was so addicting, so perfectly paced and the twists and turns left me completely shocked and gasping.

This is a must for summer reading lists, it will not disappoint!

Everyone Here is Lying by Shari Lapena is a psychological thriller about a missing child.

First, let me thank NetGalley, the publisher Penguin Random House and of course the author, for providing me with a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review. All opinions are my own.

My Synopsis:    (No major reveals, but if concerned, skip to My Opinions)
William Wooler comes home in a bit of a snit after Nora (the woman he is having an affair with), broke up with him.  Thinking he will have some time alone, he finds his nine-year-old daughter Avery is home, having been kicked out of choir practice.  Avery is a troubled and somewhat disagreeable child, and although her mom coddles her, William does not.  His anger takes over, his temper flares.  He is immediately repentant, but can't make Avery see that, so he gets in the car and drives off.  But that is the last anyone sees of Avery, and William is not too forth-coming about his actions.

Soon the police are involved, and William, of course, is found out.  He is their first suspect.  He is not, however, their last.  An anonymous witness comes forward and accuses another neighbours' son.  But there are a lot of people lying in this neighbourhood, and families will be destroyed.

Meanwhile, Avery is still missing.

My Opinions:
Well, after a slow and somewhat disappointing start, things picked up.  I'm not fond of books about affairs, or about children, so this didn't look promising.  As well, I didn't really like ANY of the characters, and had an idea where this was headed almost from the start.

However, it was still entertaining. It just goes to show you that sometimes the topics don't matter if the story is good!   And the writing and twists were really good.

It was also a fairly fast read....because it was hard to put down!

So, overall, despite all my complaining...I enjoyed it.

It was a slow start for me but once I got into the book. I absolutely loved it. The plot was gripping and I just wanted to keep going. The suspense, the writing style and characters were all a perfect mix to create such a good thriller book. Definitely recommend.

Another Shari Lapena I couldn’t put down!
She still remains one of my favorite authors that I always recommend to those looking for a thriller with twists you don’t see coming.

I received this book free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I totally forgot I had requested this book until it was blowing up on Instagram and I was like I think I have this one ahha and I did. I love the cover because of the colours. And I was really drawn to the premise. Once reading, it was okay, the pace was decent. I just didn’t really find the twist to be that twisty. I had figured it out about half way in. The very ending was a bit intriguing, I’m wondering if there will be a sequel.
I would recommend this book to newer mystery/thriller readers.

I really enjoy Shari Lapena's novels and Everyone Here Is Lying was no exception.

The cast of characters wasn't too large, but I was doubting everyone. I kept second guessing myself and was wondering how the characters would tie in together. I loved that I didn't guess the ending at all and there were lots of shockers thrown in even when I thought everything was tied up.

Thank you to Netgallery and Penguin Random House Canada, Doubleday Canada for an ARC in exchange for my honest review.

While I did appreciate many aspects of this thriller, it was not my favorite of Shari’s.
It did have some exciting parts and some twists to keep the reader guessing, but the end was fairly predictable. I found the switch between characters abrupt and hard to follow at times. Overall the twists kept my attention til the end, but I was disappointed that it ended when it did without further explanation.

How well do you really know your neighbours? Who’s hiding what secrets? Throughout Shari Lapenas, everyone here is lying, we discover that things aren’t always what they seem and we quickly learn to trust no one. Where did 9 year old Avery disappear to? Who took her? What were their reasons. As we go through the neighbourhood list, we start to suspect everyone and they all seem to have a motive. This book begs the point if things aren’t always what they seem and allow the reader to imagine how every little indiscretion can lead to unimaginable outcomes

I have loved Shari Lapena's other books and was very excited to receive an eARC from Penguin Random House Canada, Doubleday Canada and NetGalley in exchange for my honest review.

I loved the writing style and the multiple points of view. I felt that the characters immediately drew you in and kept you guessing as to who was lying and who was telling the truth right until the very end!

All of the twists were great, although I did guess some of them as the book went along, but others I had no idea, I really enjoyed it and I'm looking forward to her next!

Look for this book on shelves July 25, 2023.

Everyone Here is Lying is a story of a missing little girl, and a neighbourhood full of suspects. With so many possibilities, and everyone denying involvement, who is the culprit?

This book creates a strong cast of characters who's lives are all woven together through various means. The author's writing creates a number of reasonable suspects that keeps you guessing the whole time.

Overall I enjoyed this book. Thank you to Netgalley and the publishers for the ARC.

I’m a huge fan of Shari Lapena, and this book met all my expectations. In the peaceful Stanhope neighborhood, two neighbors, William Wooler and his lover Nora, have just ended their affair. When William returns home seeking solace, he’s met with his 9-year-old daughter, Avery, who’s home early from school. An argument ensues, and William storms out. But when Avery mysteriously disappears, William is desperate to keep his affair and his return home a secret. However, vigilant neighbors are watching, and secrets begin to unravel.

The book’s pace is exhilarating, and the storytelling is masterful. It’s brimming with layers of deception and falsehoods, and the unexpected twist caught me by surprise. The characters are deeply flawed, leaving you to trust no one. It’s the perfect suspense novel for a day by the pool!

Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for sending a digital ARC in exchange for an honest review.
