I’m a fan of Shari Lapena books so I was looking forward to reading this one. LOTS of characters to keep you guessing and with short chapters, it kept my attention the whole way through. It was sometimes confusing keeping up with who was who though. I do find her reveals a bit anticlimactic but she always keeps me hooked. This is a good read if you’re looking for a domestic thriller that you can blow through quick.

Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy to review.

I have read Shari Lapena novels and enjoyed them very much. This was no different.

Well written characters and a plot line that was just twisty enough. Just when you think you have it figured out and are rooting for the "good guys" Lapena throws another twist and you have to rethink all of your life decisions.

This novel further solidifies my respect for Shari Lapena as a novelist - I will be looking for her next book.

William Wooler has been having an affair, but his mistress ends it one afternoon. He goes home and finds his difficult nine-year-old daughter home alone, when she should still be at school. They have an argument and William loses his temper and slaps her. He storms out of the house after apologizing. However, a little while later, William is called home because Avery has disappeared. Everyone on their street is a suspect, and everyone has secrets.

This was another awesome fast-paced Shari Lapena thriller. It was told through small scenes that alternated between all the characters which gave some insight into what everyone was thinking. It was still hard to figure out who was behind her disappearance because they were all guilty of something in their lives. The story took a surprising twist that I didn’t see coming. The ending was great and satisfying!

Everyone Here Is Lying is a fast-paced thriller!

Thank you Penguin Random House Canada for providing a copy of this book.

This book had me hooked right from the start. I love that we got to see everyone’s point of view, and literally everyone was lying👀 There were so many twists in this book that I felt whiplashed every chapter! That last one though ….👀 I wish we would’ve gotten an epilogue to see what happened next but I suppose that’s the point to end on a cliffhanger! Overall an amazing thriller that will keep you engaged the entire time!

Despite being a page turner, I couldn't shake the sensation of déjà vu while reading this book. It seemed to draw inspiration from various storylines within the realm of domestic thrillers and mysteries. Certain segments struck me as implausible, and a considerable portion felt like repetition. The female characters often resonated with a uniform tone, making it challenging to distinguish between them. On the whole, I'd suggest this to those seeking a speedy and uncomplicated read, particularly those less acquainted with suspense novels.

I always find Shari Lapena's mysteries to be twisty and full of surprises, and Everyone Here is Lying followed suit. This book was a bit slow to get going, but picked up the pace after the first half, which I was grateful for. It was written in multiple POV's which was great, but they were unfortunately hard to follow due to the formatting of this ARC. I know that these issues were fixed prior to printing, but it really made it difficult to follow and unfortunately affected my rating. The characters and their ARC's were enough to keep me intrigued throughout the story though and kept me guessing right to the end. And that major plot twist?! Definitely didn't see that coming!! So bonus points for that.

Overall, I did enjoy the book, but wouldn't rave about it. And if you're going to pick it up, please check the content/trigger warnings as this book included some pretty sensitive content.

Thank you to NetGalley, Penguin Random House Canada, and the author for this ARC in exchange for my honest review.

Great book. I loved the alternating points of view from the various characters. Small town drama with finger pointing and "my kid would never do that" attitude. Avery's a special kid. She reminds me little of Kevin in the movie We Need to Talk About Kevin (didn't read the book version). And clever twists in the end.
5 stars

And this book did not disappoint.

I must say it took me in all sorts of directions. Just when I thought I had it, it threw me a curveball!

This is not my first Shari Lapena book but it is my favourite. I just couldn't put it down. The whole book takes place over a matter of days and I just wanted to keep reading to find out what happened. Definitely kept me on my toes until the very end.

WOW. This book had me metaphorically running around in circles throughout this whole book trying to figure out what had happened to Avery Wooler, and with everyone lying left right and center I absolutely did not see the twist coming. Every inference I made was compounded by another lie being revealed that had nothing to do with the disappearance!

But wow. That ending. Speechless. My first Shari Lapena thriller & it won't be my last.

Thanks Netgalley & Penguin Random House Canada for the opportunity to read this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Shari Lapena’s newest thriller is a fast paced and cliffhanger filled read, with short chapters that have you constantly saying “okay just one more”.
I love when books have short chapters that all flow into each other, making it hard to stop reading.

Although this book was hard to put down, unfortunately the plot fell a little flat for me. It seemed obvious who the kidnapper was, not right away, but sooner than I would have liked, and there were just so many characters. In the first half of the book it seemed like a new person was being introduced every few chapters, making it hard to keep them straight. More than once I had to take a second to figure out who someone was.

Everyone Here Is Lying wasn’t bad, but it was a very middle ground thriller.

Thank you to Netgally, Penguin Random House, and Doubleday Canada for my eARC.

So many characters with too many backstories to follow. The who dun it was quite predictable. It went on for way too long with no satisfying ending.

Shari Lapena is the queen of domestic thrillers and I could not read this book fast enough. Everyone is lying in this book and you don’t know who to trust.

Although I couldn’t put this book down, I didn’t love the reveal but because of how quickly I kept turning the pages and how much I enjoyed the small town lies and family dysfunction I still give it 5 stars

The title of this book, Everyone Here is Lying, obviously had me questioning everything from the very beginning. Nearly all of the characters were suspects in the disappearance of 9-year-old Avery, and I found myself reading with a sense of dread. I work with children with behavioural challenges, so Avery was an interesting character for me. The descriptions of her at school and how she treated other children were just like someone I know, which really added another layer for me. I needed to know what happened to her, so I found myself reaching for the book every time I had a spare moment.
If you’re looking for a twisty, unpredictable mystery with complicated and unique characters, look no further than Shari Lapena’s newest. Many thanks to Penguin Random House Canada and Netgalley for an egalley in exchange for an honest review.

Let me start by saying I generally like Shari Lapena novels — they are interesting, easy to follow, creepy thrillers.

Unfortunately this one did not hit the mark for me.

I found the characters all to be unlikeable. I found their stories to all be very surface level too. I honestly didn’t care about any of them. There was no buy in for me. I felt like we really don’t get enough info or background about these characters to build a real connection to them.

I also found the story moved slowly and felt predictable, and the ending was not believable and to be honest felt too simplistic.

I’ll still pick up Shari’s books in future but this one wasn’t my fave.

This is an enjoyable and engaging page-turner. I'm not sure why I've never read Shari Lapena before, but I will definitely read more by her. The book is about the disappearance of a 9-year-old girl, who is well-known to be a very challenging child. I loved the fact that there were so many different suspects who could have been involved, but not so much that it was unbelievable. It kept me guessing until the end. The only negatives for me were that I found the missing girl to be much too advanced for her age, even though she was said to be gifted (although certainly, I admit I'm not an expert in child development); and I found the ending somewhat abrupt. Nonetheless, I would definitely recommend this book.

Immediately sucked in on page one. Shari has done it again with building amazing characters that we can’t stop reading. I read this in one day because it was so good. Truly she is the queen of domestic thrillers

Who are your favourite thriller authors? I love domestic thrillers so Shari Lapena is definitely one of mine. I was so thrilled to receive an e-arc of her latest novel.

Avery is a challenging 9 year old girl who knows how to push your buttons. After a run in with her father, she disappears. Did she run off? Was she taken? And worse, did her father have something to do with it?

Avery’s disappearance forces the entire neighbourhood’s secrets to the surface. Affairs will be revealed, family tensions will be unleashed and past grievances will all be brought to light.

Missing children stories to me can be difficult to read so I appreciate the author’s fresh take. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

This is what I liked about it:
🧸 a missing child who is difficult and not the typical perfect child
🧸 messy families (my favourite)
🧸 compelling and realistic neighborhood drama
