Amy is secretly seeing her boss, Chris, but they are about to go public after he pitches her tv show that she's worked on diligently and he's about to meet her family for the first time. Instead, she finds out that he stopped her show from getting the green light AND was super late from his meeting so her mother has been calling her constantly about her location. After they fight, she goes to get a drink at a bar near the train station and ends up with more than a few and a crowd ramping her up about her story. She takes her anger out on his precious Audi, gets filmed by someone she fired, and then goes viral. So she moves to London to get away and is working on making trailers instead of pitching stories. Her life is about to get back on track with a hot new (writer) neighbor, a merger at work that could lead to her dream job, and her mantra finally starting to feel like a reality. But then Chris shows up as her possible boss and she worries that he's going to share what happened.
This was such a feel good book! Chris is a big fat jerk and pretty easy to dislike. I absolutely adored Amy and Jake together - they were funny, bounced excellent ideas off of each other, and the flirtation between them was excellent. I really liked that their flirtation was slow and drawn out as it seemed a bit more realistic than the normal "fell right in love" romance. This was a delightful quick read!
Thank you to NetGalley for this advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.

Amy is not your average cookie cutter rom com main character, and it’s my favorite thing about her. She’s messy, a teensy but unhinged when she has a good reason to be, has the mouth of a trucker, but feels so unbelievably real and relatable (a character I could see myself being friends with!) You’ll absolutely laugh out loud reading this, I sure did! This is my first Lizzy Dent read, and I can’t wait to read her other novels, and anything she writes in the future!

"Bridesmaids meets Emily in Paris —in London—in this hilarious and heartfelt story of one handsome neighbor, one no-good ex, and the summer Amy Duffy makes the comeback of her life"
I wanted to love this one. I really did. I love nothing better than a good redemption/get your life together book. But while this was good, it didn't really hit home for me. Even from the first chapter, I wasn't really rooting for Amy. While I really liked the writing, I was having a hard time wanting Amy to win after all of her not so wise decisions. I can definitely see this book becoming a favorite of so many people, but it just wasn't my cup of tea.
Many thanks to Net Galley and Penguin Publishing Group for this ARC.

i loved this book!! the banter was everything! it was a funny, lighthearted, as well as a romantic read that was quite enjoyable.
the FMC, amy, is a force. she is a breath of air to this genre. it is hard to find books that have a FMC in her 30s that can’t figure out how to pull her life together. it’s refreshing to see from a younger view! it shows that it’s ok to not know what you are doing and everything takes time.
jake is the divine. he is the hottest! (ben barnes is such a good fancast btw!!!) his personality is one of the best i’ve seen from a MMC. i love the introverted aspect of him. his flaws? none.
i just HAVE to add the revenge amy got on chris is empowering! i loved that she took her power back!
but with all of that i feel like amy is missing something and maybe that’s the point; her being 30 and lost. i also felt like it needed more umph. i LIVE for drama and tears and i felt like it fell short in that area.
all in all i loved the book and it definitely will be a rec! 4/5 STARS!!

I was so happy to read a new Lizzy Dent book! I loved this, and I loved how London and the character's homes and lives came alive for the reader. Recommend!

Thanks to NetGalley and G.P. Putnam's for the ARC. I voluntarily read and reviewed this book.
3.5 stars
The best part was the banter between Amy and Jake. That's why I gave this a higher rating than I expected I would. Amy was quite selfish and immature throughout the story which gave this a lower rating. I wasn't sold on their chemistry until quite far into the book and I wouldn't even characterize it as a romance novel. I loved the character of Jake. He showed a lot of growth. I enjoy this author's writing style - so far, nothing beats The Summer Job.

The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent is a tense and gripping story.
Dent has written an intriguing story here.
This book has an exciting premise, rapid pacing, shocking twists and turns, and ends with a thrilling climax.
It will keep you turning the page’s with anticipation.
An amazing read, well-written, fabulous plot with plenty of suspense. I can't wait to read more from this author.
"I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own."
Thank You NetGalley and G.P. Putnam's Sons for your generosity and gifting me a copy of this amazing eARC!

I fell in love with Lizzy Dent’s writing while reading her debut The Summer Job and she hasn’t let me down yet! She is an absolute queen at delivering feel-good comedies centered around hilarious heroines going through their hot mess era.
I really enjoyed reading Amy’s story. While The Summer Job and The Set Up were more women’s fiction, this was the most romance-centric of the bunch. Jake was a top-tier love interest and the chemistry between Jake and Amy was sizzling. I love how they both were going through issues and finding solace spending the summer together healing and working towards a common goal. Amy’s passion for television was fun and I liked the insight into that area of entertainment production, Dent was clearly very knowledgeable. Overall, this is a fun read and I absolutely recommend this (and Lizzy Dent in general) to any fan of contemporary fiction and romance!

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Amy Duffy’s, a TV producer, biggest nightmare comes true when her boss, Chris, who is also her boyfriend, cancels her show. In fact, he was part of the vote to cancel it. In a drunken rage, Amy damages his Audi convertible. Someone films her rage and it goes viral. Fast forward two years later, Amy has moved to London to start over! When the company Amy works for is facing a merger, can she fight to keep her job and create a life she wants or will her life continue to spiral out of control? Will Chris, her ex-boss and boyfriend, try to hinder her success? This highly entertaining book will have you turning the pages to find out Amy’s fate!
A fun light read with a great story line and entertaining characters that will have you laughing out loud, but will also have you shaking your head at times! A perfect book to take on vacation!

This was a quick, pleasant read. I felt as though too much focused on the workings of television and not as much on the main characters, Amy and Jake, but I do think this would be a good, light beach read.

Thank you netgalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for allowing me to read this book. I felt so bad for Amy in the beginning and was so happy for her to meet Jake although at times felt he deserved more from her. This book was cute but It bugged me how much she thought about her ex while spending time with Jake. I am a big fan of slow burn but wish I felt more chemistry between Amy and Jake. I also wanted to connect with the characters more than I did. I enjoyed the Beginning and ending most and felt like everything in between was a bit slow and lacking for me.

Cute rom-com about two people embarrassed on social media who end up living in the same apartment building. While Amy's humiliation is two years old and she moved to London from New York to escape and not too many people in her new life know about it. Jake on the other hand is fresh off a dating show in which he drunkenly tried to escape with humorous consequences. They become close and start to work on developing a TV show together for the station Amy works for so she can show her former boss and ex-boyfriend she has moved on and is thriving after her past in NYC. I liked this book I thought it was a quick read and I liked both of the main characters a lot I would give this 3.5 stars rounded up to 4. I really enjoyed the background in the development of the show and the behind the scenes stuff you don't think about. I want to thank NetGalley and PENGUIN GROUP Putnam for the arc in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the cover, it really drew me in. Ultimately, the story fell really flat for me. In the crowded contemporary romance space, there wasn't enough substance to the story for me to feel like it was worth consuming.

Going to skip synopsis and go right for the review:
What this had going for it.... the setting. From the opening scene in New York, to the character's journeys around London/England, and a trip up to Scotland, you really feel like you're on location. Other reviewers have mentioned that the characters didn't feel as fully developed or fleshed out - I didn't necessarily feel this, but if you consider the setting a character, it definitely shines.
Akin to setting is also the descriptions of working in television and script writing. Our main character, Amy, has lost a lot of self-confidence and taken a step back in her career after her disastrous experience in New York, but watching her regain that confidence and step up for what she wants is satisfying. And to do that through the lens of television is a lot of fun.
There are some "cringe" moments. If you are deeply uncomfortable watching people embarrass themselves this may not be the book for you.
Conclusion: This is not a steamy romance with lots of sex. It's a slow burn novel about rediscovering yourself and your confidence and being able to trust again. Beautiful setting and fun shenanigans sprinkled throughout. It is a romance (technically) because there is a happy ending, and the focus is on the developing love interest.
Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for providing an arc for an honest review.

Let's start this off, by thanking Lizzy Dent & her team for the ARC. As always, I'm forever grateful. I want to start by mentioning that I love the cover! It's bright, bold, and made me curious about what the books is going to be about. The story follows Amy Duff who was a successful producer in NYC. After an embarrassing situation that's caught on video, she runs away to London and starts over again.
Two years pass, and instead of being a producer, she's making TV show trailers. When an opening opens up for producer, she decides it's time to move forward from her previous scandal. And with the help of her cute new neighbor, Jake, she's bound to make a great impression. Jake is also struggling from his own scandal, than happened much more recently than hers. What Jake really wants to do, is to become a writer, and so together they start to work on a show together. Something that she can pitch to her company. While they work together, sparks start to fly.
Overall, the book is a cute quick read with lots of laughs. While all that is true, I also felt like something was missing overall. I liked Jake as an individual, but it was a little difficult to believe that him and Amy truly had a deep connection. They had a lot of flirty banter, but not as many deep conversations. I also found it a little strange how interested she was in Jake right off the bat, and asked her best to pretend to be an agent to get his writing. I think it may have felt a little less weird if she had more conversations with Jake before doing that.
I enjoyed reading it, and I would consider it a quick summer read. 3 stars.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC!
Oh this one really is so sweet. If you love stories within stories this one’s also for you. Two writers working on a television show plot where you definitely feel the chemistry of the MCs but you kind of just weirdly want to know all the details about their script too.
Our main girl Amy has a lot going on: social media shaming, fleeing to another country, super hot and charismatic London flat neighbor, an ex that shows his stupid face at inopportune moments, and a killer script she’s trying to co-create with the hot neighbor.
This story really explores getting yourself out of a funk, taking ownership of your mistakes, and moving on in a multitude of ways. If you need to feel good, this one will do that for you!

3/5 🌟
Amy Duffy is a television developer that attends her cousins wedding. Too many drinks leads to too many mistakes following her boyfriend dropping a bombshell on her.
This embarrassing night leads Amy to run from her old life and venture to London to start a new life. There, Amy meets Jake and they start a friendship where they both decide to help each other rid their shame of their unfortunate life choices.
This was an easy and comical read. I enjoyed Amy, but I found myself getting second hand embarrassment for both her AND Jake. I cant help but have sympathy for them which made me start to care for them as the story continued.
Thank you to NetGalley for the eARC.

Amy Duffy, you cringey, relatable, adorable mess! I wish you were real so we could be best friends and I could tell you to get your shit together (with love of course)
If you’re into sweet romances with quirky characters who just can’t get out of their own way sometimes, you’ll love this one! (And if you’re a fan of Emily Henry, I think you’ll love Lizzy Dent too)
I accidentally stayed up way too late finishing this book last night and now I’m tired at work but it was so worth it
Thanks to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an ARC. I can’t wait to read Lizzy Dent’s other books!

A super fun, satisfying read!
Two years ago, Amy is an extremely successful television developer in New York who finds her career derailed when Chris, her boss — and secret boyfriend — blocks approval of a show Amy has been developing because of how it might look for his career. Her furious (and drunken) reaction to his betrayal goes viral, and Amy escapes to London, hiding in easy promo work and trying not to get connected to the worst moment of her life. She finds a kindred spirit in her new neighbor, Jake, who spectacularly flamed out as a contestant on a reality TV show, and who also happens to be a screenwriter. Amy starts to feel like she’s getting her groove back — in her career <i>and</i> her love life — when her ex shows up as the new interim head of development at her new job.
Amy is funny, smart, and talented. Jake is a perfect match — sweet, brilliant, and with a talent to match Amy’s. Chris is a smarmy, entitled jerk, and it’s a pleasure to see him get what he deserves. I especially enjoyed getting a peek into Amy and Jake’s creative process.

Thank you NetGalley for an early e-copy of The Sweetest Revenge by Lizzy Dent in exchange for an honest review.
I really enjoyed The Summer Job and I was so excited to see that Lizzy Dent had a new book coming out. I was even more excited when I got approved for a NetGalley ARC of it. Unfortunately, The Sweetest Revenge seemed like it was written by a different author. I struggled to get through it. Normally, I can read a book in a couple of days, but I never wanted to pick this up and ended up taking a couple of months to finish it.
Maybe I would have enjoyed the story more if the main character, Amy, had chosen some other form of revenge? But what she did was gross and beyond destructive. It made me super uncomfortable and I had a hard time liking her because of it.
It also didn’t help that there was zero chemistry between her and Jake. The romance was such a slow burn that I’m not even sure the match was ever lit. In fact, the romance could have been removed from the story entirely and not much would have changed.
If you do read this, make sure to set your expectations. Even though this is marketed as a romance, it’s more fiction. There’s very little romance and the little romance there is isn’t very fulfilling.
