'Zero Days' by Ruth Ware is fast paced well intentioned spy-style thriller. It was fun to go along on the adventure, but a bit of a departure from Ruth Ware's usual style so if you are not really into action/ adventure, spy and security tech it might get a little tedious in spots. But, if you do...you'll love it!

This was not exactly what I expected when I picked up a Ruth Ware book but I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a captivating thriller that kept me guessing who was at fault and what was going to happen next throughout. At time, Ruth Ware books, while always entertaining and fun, can be easy to anticipate, but this one was not. It follows a wife as she's on the run after finding her husband murdered, kind of The Fugitive style but reversed, as she hunts for information to free her from suspicion and find his true killer.

Zero Days the book is about a husband and wife team, Jack and Gabe, that are penetration testers. One that tests the physical building, one that tests the technology. A job goes wrong, Gabe is found murdered and Jack is being set up for it. What can she do but clear her name and find out who murdered Gabe? But it goes so much deeper than she expects.

The beginning grabbed my attention, but as soon as Jack went on the run, it lost my interest with the repetitive descriptions and actions. Too long, too slow, too repetitive.

Unfortunately I'm not sure I have much good feedback for this one. I loved Ruths books early in her career but they have changed so much I just don't think they're for me anymore. This felt more like a spy novel than a thriller and and I just didn't like nor could I connect with these dull characters.

I had a hard time keeping focus because I just didn't really feel like much happened and it was hard for me to like anyone in the story. And it was waaaaay too long.

It was a cool idea as a concept for plot, but way too dry and slow of execution. Typical phenomenal writing but just 'meh' as far as pace and ability to hold my attention.

I will definitely try her books again but I just hope her next one isn't as long and drawn out, a bit more suspenseful and fast paced, and goes back to her thriller vibes of the old days :)

Zero Days was a new take on a mystery. The plot of line was a new genre for me and I thoroughly enjoy the husband wife duo. While it grew predictable towards the end, it had me turn the pages eager to learn what happened next. Live Ruth Ware and this is one her best ones yet !

A bit more of a slow burn than Ware's usual, but with the same skillful characterizations, thoughtful plotting, and suspenseful tone. I've read all of Ware's books and she has yet to miss!

Kind of slow, took me forever to read. Not terrible, but not great either. The best aspects of this were the technical parts where she was excelling at her job. Most of the rest of it was only so-so.

I had a hard time finishing this one. I wanted to be engaged but it just felt choppy and drawn out. For a suspense thriller, I did not find myself engaged. Thanks Netgalley foe the ARC of this book.

This was not my favorite Ruth Ware book.. honestly, her books are getting worse and worse to me. Nothing will beat The Woman in Cabin 10 for me. I didnt really connect to the husband or wife, this felt more like a Harlan Coben mystery.

Ruth Ware is an automatic request for me, always. I went into this book with high expectations, because I've really enjoyed all of her past books. While I DID enjoy this one, it wasn't quite a five star read for me.

The story centers around Jack and her husband, Gabe, who work as penetration (or "pen") testers for companies to check their security systems - both physical and digital. When a pen test goes slightly sideways and Jack gets home much later than anticipated, she discovers that some has brutally murdered Gabe and left seemingly no trace. Due to her questionable (in the police's eyes at least) alibi, Jack is instantly a suspect in Gabe's murder.

I felt like the pace of this novel was similar to the last Ruth Ware outing, The It Girl. It was a slow start, and didn't really start rolling until about the 35-40% mark. Once Jack was solidly in her attempt to figure out who was being Gabe's murder, things really picked up. I will say, I called the twist pretty early, which was disappointing, but I still enjoyed watching it play out over the course of the rest of the book.

Overall, 4/5 stars!

Zero Days by Ruth Ware was very technical and difficult to understand that world of technology without having that background. It was hard to follow and figure out. Most of Ware's books have been a bummer lately, and this one was too. I'm about to give up on her altogether. It seems like she produces too many "thrillers" without a solid foundation just to put the books out to sell. Disappointed in this one.

I really loved this book. It has a bit of a slower start to me but I quickly got to where I couldn’t put it down and was cheering Jack on at every turn. This may be one of my favorites from Ruth Ware! I would definitely recommend it!

This was a first for me: a Ruth Ware book that I didn't devour. I wasn't able to get more than a handful of chapters in before I gave up. I just couldn't care enough about the characters to keep reading. Sine I usually love this author, I'm reserving judgment and I'll try again at some point.

Zero Day was a fast-paced thriller that really had me guessing with Jac. I didn't know who I could trust and I know that I was suspicious of many people in the book and I also had an inkling of the other secret that happened.
I think that this is a great book for people who like the feeling of an unreliable narrator. If they like stories where you can't trust anyone. It's very hard to give an honest review of a thriller without giving away a ton of spoilers. I will say that this had the makings of a story that should have freaked me out and kept me up, it didn't though. I just gave me anxiety, because I did believe in Jac's innocence the entire time and I don't like it when the woman is not believed.

This is only my second novel by Ware that I have read and I really do enjoy her writing. I do know that this is nothing like her other books, which I have heard from many people. So when you read this, leave the comparisons as far from it as you can,

I could not put this book down. The story was great, fast pasted and interesting. I loved the twists in the story.

When I see "Ruth Ware" on a book, I'm buying it! I have loved all of her books and find them very sit on the edge of my seat reading. Zero Days was a bit different than her regular fare. I found it interesting in that I learned about a field of employment I didn't know existed. It was a solid story with an exciting climax and of course, since Ruth wrote it, I recommend you read it, especially if you are a fan. If she is a new author to you, even though this is a stand alone novel, I might suggest reading one of her other novels first.

This review is certainly overdue and is unfortunately a DNF for me.

I really wanted to like it but I could get past the beginning and had a hard time with some of the language used and the really descriptive scenes when they’re doing their jobs.

While I love Ware’s books this just didn’t feel like it was for me and I didn’t think spending more time would change that.

Ruth Ware proceeds to amaze me, I haven't read a thriller from her that I thought was overdone or not good, or not thrilling. But Zero Days was a new kind of thrill. I felt like I was on the run with Jack the entire time, and even at some point I could feel my heart racing—like I was about to get caught too. The emotion I could feel through Jack, mostly the grief, throughout the entire story impacted me too.

There were a couple moments in the book that were a bit slow, and it definitely started a bit slow too. There were also a few moments that were a bit too convenient, but all in all it was a good read.

I was fascinated by the plot—what Jack and her husband did for a living, and LOVED how it tied into everything Jack did later. I felt like there were no holes or issues.

I’m a big Ruth Ware fan and have read all of her work, but this one unfortunately is probably my least favorite. It had high potential but it was just too different from her normal storylines. It was good in its own way but it honestly could have been 100 pages shorter and I may have enjoyed it more because the pacing would have been faster. This was very drawn out and slow in a lot of areas which took away from the overall suspense of the story.
