If I’m honest, this was not my favorite Ruth Ware book. While the storyline was captivating, the story itself was not believable. I came close to putting it down and not finishing it, but I wanted to know how the story ended (predictable), but I think there are much better Ruth Ware titles out there to try! I enjoyed “The Girl in Cabin 10” and “The It Girl” much more! I’ll still be reading more of this author, but sadly this one was not for me.

I usually love Ruth Ware's books but this one was a miss for me. DNF at 37%. I didn't care about the characters and the story wasn't able to keep my interest. I found myself avoiding reading time, that's when I knew this was a DNF for me. I long for the days of the old Ruth Ware books.

I enjoyed the beginning of this book and was hooked right away. However, it went downhill pretty quickly. I thought some of it was too repetitive. I found Jack to be somewhat unbelievable and got tired of the chase.

Just another bland who-dunnit. This felt like a half-hearted attempt just to fulfill a contract. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the arc in exchange for my honest review.

Ruth Ware’s newest release deviates from the psychological thriller she normally writes. This one is straight action. Jack comes home one night from a job to find her husband Gabe dead at his computer, his throat slit. She soon finds herself as the police’s number one suspect. She’s on the run as she tries to figure out what happened to Gabe and who she can trust.
This was not my favorite Ruth Ware book, but it was a good read. I found the middle part kind of slow and repetitive and found myself running out of patience with Jack often. That said, I’m not sorry I read it.

I read this in a day! It's been quite a while since that happened, but I got engrossed and wanted to know the ending, so I spent most of my Sunday reading. I thoroughly enjoyed this title - yes, I guessed some of the plot twists, but that didn't detract from my overall feelings after I'd finished the book. This was the second title I have read by Ruth Ware (I didn't care for the other book I read), but now I feel compelled to pick up some of her older work to read.

For those of you who like fast paced thrillers, this one will not disappoint! I read it over 24 hours, I completely ignored my responsibilities to devour this book!
While I did guess some of what happened before it did, I still found this book a really satisfying read. It was fairly unbelievable but that doesn’t bother me in the thriller genre. I found myself really rooting for the main character Jack and worried about her and what was going to happen. I loved the pacing and this book will keep you engaged the entire time.
4.5 rounded up.

This book was different than what I expected - not in a bad way. Most of the story followed Jack, a woman who is framed for her husband's murder. She's trying to get to the bottom of who really killed her husband, while avoiding the police.
The details about cybersecurity and Jack's job as a pen tester (companies pay her to break into their offices and see how far she can get before security catches up to her) were the most interesting part of the book. It was something new and I enjoyed learning about it.
The plot felt a little predictable in some cases - I guessed the twist pretty early on, but it was still entertaining. It was a quick read, I finished it in a day. Definitely a good beach read.

I absolutely loved this!! This was one of the most fast paced, action packed thrillers I’ve read in a long time. I loved the overall mystery and vibe of this book. The “one the run” trope is not really one I’m familiar with, but it totally kept me on my toes! The main character was likable, yet made some questionable choices. I kinda saw the ending coming, but it didn’t change my enjoyment of the book at all. I loved the whole journey. If you’re a fan of action packed stories, you’ll probably love this one! I could definitely see it becoming a movie one day!

Jack cross and her husband Gabe are pen testers, who are hired by company’s to make sure they can not be “hacked”. Although I love Ruth Ware, I do not love her newer books. The entire premise of this book was Jack on the run and I felt like I was rushing to the end to figure out what happened rather then to enjoy the story.

I love Ruth Ware and she is in fine form here. Jack is an amazing character and intriguing. Parts of the book were a bit implausible that she wouldn't have been caught, but overall a page turner and gripping. The book comes out just in time for another Super Fans birthday and I have been singing its praises to other thriller friends. Well done Ruth! Though now I'm seriously worried about my privacy!!!

This book follows a wife who is forces to find her husband's killer when the police are only focused on finding and accusing her. I feel like this book is slightly different from the rest of the books I've read by Ruth Ware while staying the same genre. I thought it was fairly predictable but it did keep me entertained enough to read quickly. I think I wouldn't have held this to such high standards if it was the first novel by Ruth Ware that I've read but having read many others, I would say this is not my favorite.

This book seem to be different from the others I have read by her. I have to admit that the beginning chapter confused me but as the story progresses I got more into it. Each chapter seem to build the suspense but the ending did seem a little flat.
I still enjoyed the book and definitely will keep reading Ruth Ware. Thank you to NetGalley for the advance reader’s copy and the author for coming up with a totally different approach for a thriller.

I’ve heard good things about Ruth Ware and was excited to read this one but I just couldn’t get into the story. I truly enjoyed her writing style but that pacing & story itself just weren’t for me this go around. Hopefully next time will be different 🤷🏻♀️

Intriguing, shady, and a solid murder mystery. Ruth Ware does it again! Her books are so incredibly hard to put down, and this was no exception.

I love Ruth Ware but this book was not like her others. Jack and her husband Gabe test security systems by going undercover in person and by hacking their computer system. When Gabe is found dead after one of their tests Jack is immediately suspected of murder. When she goes on the run to find the real killer… well this is where I had a problem with the book. Jack’s on the run through London and surrounding areas with a huge wound and there’s a lot of running and pain. The person I immediately suspect is the one involved in the killing so that was predictable and the the ending is just a letdown.
The pros: the writing is wonderful and the character descriptions are great but I found myself skimming to get through this.
Thanks to NetGalley and Gallery Books for this eARC.

Jack and her husband Gabe have an unusual job: they’re “pen testers,” which means they’re hired by companies to break into their buildings and security systems in order to expose flaws and weaknesses. During a routine test, things go horribly wrong leaving Gabe dead and Jack named the prime suspect. Shocked and feeling attacked, she goes on the run, evading police as well as trying to bide herself some time so she can conduct her own investigation and find out what is really going on. This is an action-packed thriller full of twists and turns that any reader of this genre will appreciate. Ware’s novels are always fun and entertaining. Thank you to NetGalley and Gallery / Scout Press for the advanced review copy.

This was not my favorite Ruth Ware book. It was a good read but was not a nonstop page turner. The plot was original though.

I enjoyed this book. It was different than her other books, but I still was interested from the start. There was not as much suspense as I've read in her other books but still a great read!

When I picked up this book, I wasn’t certain what sort of ride I was signing up for. Ruth Ware delivers a fairly action packed novel with all the twists and turns one would expect of an individual framed for a crime they didn’t commit and now they are trying to prove they are innocent before time runs out. The main character, Jack, doesn’t do herself a lot of favors in her pursuits to prove the truth of the situation, but with the help of her sister and a couple of nice strangers along the way, Jack pushes to uncover who set her up and who murdered her husband.
I thought this book was a fairly thrilling ride from beginning to end even though I don’t know much about hackers and pen testers. There were times I was nearly screaming for this poor protagonist to turn herself in, she was getting more and more beat up by the page. Even if she wasn’t worried about surviving, I was rooting for her to make it to the end and be able to see the real culprit brought to justice. I will say, I wish I didn’t see the ending coming the way I did but, hey, sometimes when you read thrillers and murder/suspense, these things can happen.
Overall, I was pretty pleased with this book. I read it over the course of about 3 days and would recommend it to anyone traveling. The momentum in the book feels right for someone on the go.
