How often do you get drunk and make an impulse purchase as a result? Ok how many of you have accidentally bought a lighthouse, at the other end of the country to where you live, having never seen it before in real life?

I would be utterly shocked if you have done, I can't say the thought has ever crossed my mind, but yet that is exactly what Meredith does, and as an opening to a book it's rather memorable.

And what a wonderful community Meredith ends up being part of, well at least her initial circle of new friends, although that can't be said of everyone in the town.

I totally fell for Clem, it was obvious he might be hiding things, one of which I guessed, but from his initial meetings with Meredith, I was sure he was going to be important. And so he was, in so many ways.

I also loved getting to know Violet and Gladys and enjoyed the way that Meredith despite having met Violet initially was happy to come up with a way for her to keep her beloved pet. And thus walking on the beach with Gladys was a regular occurence, and included some scenes that made me laugh.

And then there is the estate agent that sold the lighthouse to Meredith and is initially then uncontactable. Despite some of his banter, I never warmed to him and as a reader I always need to trust my instincts about characters!

And what of this lighthouse I mentioned? It was so incredibly well described at all times, that I could see the renovations come to life so very clearly.

With family issues to be resolved, and a brave main character starting over in a new place, and trying to be adventurous, we are treated to a lovely novel.

This was highly enjoyable and I was really entertained by the story. After having waited so long since my last Kim Nash novel, I really hope the wait for my next is a lot shorter.

I’m not sure why it’s taken me so long to read a Kim Nash novel but I’ve just finished Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove and absolutely loved it. There are so many things to love about this book!

Firstly, the setting. Kim Nash’s description of Cornwall, the sea and the lighthouse itself is so beautiful that I really want to go there!

Meredith is also a brilliant character, such a positive, uplifting and also funny woman. Alongside her growing feelings for Clem, the way she built relationships with the other people in the village, was perhaps my favourite part.

And this the thing I like best about Kim Nash‘s novels: the sense of community. She brings together a cast of characters, of different generations, in such a beautiful way. There were many wise words that I highlighted on my kindle, too.

I devoured this book like one of the cakes that Gemma brings Meredith from the bakery. Loved it.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book.
A great storyline populated by a range of fully-formed & believable characters, the story held my interest from beginning to end. I wish my home DIY jobs were done as quickly as the 2 week full renovation of the lighthouse, but other than that the plot was on the whole pretty believable (it is fiction after all).
Two likeable main characters had me rooting for their relationship from the start. The way this book is written & the characters of the seaside village make me hope that this is the beginning of a series as I’d love to return to catch up on their lives.

What an absolute delight this story was from this author. Both my Mum and I are huge fans of Kim's books and we are always eager to read her latest ones. As I was reading about Meredith's move to Cornwall and how local handyman Clem was helping her with renovations, I was chuckling at some of the scenes and comments. What made this even more amusing was that I know when Mum read this book she will be chuckling away the same as I did :)

Meredith has moved, from "up country" and is now down here in Cornwall (my neck of the woods). She has been spontaneous and bought a lighthouse, well this is what some people do when they have had the odd vino! I know I would love the idea of living in a lighthouse, but I also know that I would soon curse the steps! Meredith however is determined to make a go of this new home, which turns out to be more than she had bargained for when she actually arrives and realises just how much she will have to do just to get it clean.

While she comes to terms with what could be a disastrous decision she is given a lifeline in the form of Clem. He has been recommended to her by some of the friendlier locals to help with some of the renovations and repairs.

There are some great chuckle-worthy scenes in this story and they come from various characters. Meredith does have a memorable moment in the builder's merchants that made me laugh, it is this sort of humour that I like. A bit risque, quirky and just good all-around banter. Every time the author seems to get the note just right in her novels and they add to the feel of the story.

There is a small community and this makes the characters easy to remember, and not all are welcoming and there is the odd one who is a bit smarmy. I do like the mix of characters and each has their own personality that shines through. Getting this across in a 270-page book is great.

Along with the howlers, there are some wonderful heartwarming moments. If you have read any of this author's books before you will know there will be something a little more serious. Again, she does this so well in so few pages but the story never felt rushed. I just wanted the book to keep going if I am being completely honest.

This is another fabulous story about starting afresh and finding your feet when you are a little bit older but still young enough to enjoy and try new things. I haven't even mentioned the romance in this story! This is a rom-com and so the romance is there, fleeting and tentative but sometimes it is better to be friends... isn't it?

This is one for fans of contemporary fiction, romance, and finding a place that feels right. Another wonderful book and one I would definitely recommend.

Absolutely delightful. I thoroughly enjoyed this book - hopeful indeed! I really loved Meredith and her character arc, especially how she became part of the village community. The cast of supporting characters was lots of fun - Vi was a favourite. And what LOVELY love interest. Cosy romance at it's best - easily 5 stars from me.

This time we find ourselves in Cornwall with the ‘coming of age’ Meredith,it just happens to be this is her coming of age at 50, and she has done something very unlike her,she has made a rash purchase…..a lighthouse….to be her new home
We meet her new neighbours,I was outraged with DIlys at the corner shop 😊 and her,lets say,unwelcoming ways however there is more to it than meets the eye and as she sets her sights on Clem ( a local handyman ) and he sets his on hers it turns into a romantic family comedyish drama that ticks every box and left me smiling throughout…..there are serious matters dealt with mind you and the book takes unexpected turns

There are a few things that can sell a book to me. The title and the cover can be one thing, the other is the author but for this it was former. The cover is absoutely stunning and is is Kim's first book for Boldwood Books - the first in a brand new series. Set in the beautiful, fictional Cornish town of Driftwood Bay, we are introduced to divorcée Meredith, who drunkily bought a lighthouse. Like who does that but could it be the start of something beautiful in her life?

Meredith is a woman who has been hurt badly - and has taken it through her life. Arriving in the beautiful bay, unbeknown to her, she's about to set foot into a ongoing fraud. From the moment she arrives, she finds that some locals welcome her and can actually become friends whilst others just want her gone. We meet the lovely Gemma, Lucy and James as well as Vi and her beloved Labrador, Gladys who are all happy for her arrival. But she's here for one reason and one reason only; slippy estate agent and horrible man, Russell, and his dodgy deeds.

But with the help of new friends, can Meredith find a home and maybe finally put all those demons to bed that have been haunting her? This is a gorgeously written book, and yes it did take me a few days to finish reading it because of real world problems. I'm so glad I asked to be part of this book tour because I know this is the start of a gorgeous series. Driftwood Bay sounds like an idyllic place to live as Kim paints a gorgeous picture, just making you want to move there and be part of that community.

I can't wait for book two and I'll be on the look out for it.

What a delightful read! Stuck in a dead-end job and approaching fifty, Meredith's life is at a standstill, a sentiment i can relate wholeheartedly to! On a whim she buys a lighthouse sight unseen and sets out for the adventure of a lifetime.

Cornwall really comes to life in this book, with rich descriptions for anyone who has never been or anyone dreaming of returning.

A heartwarming, uplifting and fun read, easily finished in an hour, with a plot that is completely resolved.

Who hasn’t dreamed of living in a lighthouse? I know I have many a time. The only downside to it would be all the steps! I would need to have a lift for going upstairs lol.

I wasn’t sure if Meredith was mad or not to have bought a lighthouse more so with not seeing it first. When she arrives in the small village, she doesn’t get the warmest of welcomes with not being local and the lighthouse is a bigger project than she first thought. A lesser person would have probably given in and sold up and moved on.

There are lots of lovely characters who befriend Meredith and have her start to feel welcome and see herself staying there. The author writes the most fabulous descriptions of the surrounding areas and I especially loved the kind of bric a brac shop that I could see myself spending hours in with all the great finds that Meredith came away with. I found myself dreaming about what sort of things I would buy and how I would decorate the lighthouse and have to say Meredith’s design skills are way better than mine! It was like watching an episode of Grand Designs seeing it all come together. Of course credit also goes to the gorgeous Clem’s handy skills who will certainly set readers hearts racing!

Hopeful Hearts at the Cornish Cove is a delightful read that transported me to Cornwall with picturesque views, sandy beaches and the smell of the sea. You know that feeling that the sun gives you when you feel it warm on your skin? This is what this novel gave me. It made me feel all warm and up beat. Along with a heartwarming storyline, there are plenty of laugh out loud moments that I have started to expect from this author. I always come away from one of her books like I have just spent the most wonderful time with good friends as that’s how the characters end up feeling by the time I have reached the end of the book. A gorgeous, uplifting and fun read that everyone needs in their life!

It has been a year since her divorce, working a dead and job and nearing Fifty Meredith decides to that she needs to make a fresh start and with some money she inherited from her grandmother she decides to buy a lighthouse in Cornwall when she sees the pictures online on a whim.
When she arrives in Cornwall, she is excited to meet new people and make some new friends but the first person she comes across seems to be very rude and when she goes to the local shop, she gets the same reception.
When she arrives at the lighthouse. She realises that the lighthouse is inhabitable and not like the pictures shown. So, she employees a handyman and when they turn up, they have already met. The man that she first met when she arrived, and his name is Clem. As they renovate the light house, they soon become friends and they also have a attraction between each other. But Clem is at least ten years younger, and she is not looking for love anyway she keeps telling herself. But when Meredith overhears a conversation between Clem and a much younger woman, Meredith not only thinks that their friendship is in jeopardy, but also her feelings for him too.
Thank you Boldwood Books for a copy of Kim Nash’s latest offering. I have heard good things about the author’s book and couldn’t wait to get stuck in. I found this to be a delightful, heart-warming read. I couldn’t get enough of it. I loved it. 5 stars from me.

A story about a divorced woman in her late 40s who starts over after buying a lighthouse. She moves to the new town and meets friends and finds potential love. I enjoyed the remodel, characters and story. Really enjoyable read.

I do love this author's books! This is a standalone book (or hopefully the first book in a series, as I'd love to return to the little Cornish village of Driftwood Bay!) and it's an absolute delight to read! We meet Meredith Robinson who has just made an impulse purchase of a Lighthouse in Driftwood Bay! Meredith is such a lovely character and so easy to relate to! She's a middle-aged woman who doesn't have a very good relationship with her mother and whose marriage has broken down. Who could blame her for wanting to up sticks to many miles away to live by the sea...not me, that's for sure! In fact, I'm so impressed with Meredith at how brave she was to do it! However, it's never plain sailing and after finding the Lighthouse in a worse condition than she was led to believe and run-ins with the locals, I did begin to wonder if she had made the right decision!

This was such a wonderful read! I started reading it alongside another book, reading little bits of each, but I have to be honest, I became so wrapped up in this story that before I knew it, I was half way through and I just had to finish it before I could put it down! The location is breath-taking and as I read I could just imagine the little village, the harbour, the lighthouse and, of course the blue skies. Meredith does find herself becoming a love interest of some of the locals and we are left wondering which one (although it's obvious which one it should be!) I really liked some of the other characters! Violet (or Vi as she liked to be known!) was so lovely and her and Gladys made a great pair! I also really liked Clem who seemed like the perfect man to have around!

I was completely entranced by this story and loved every page of it! I've read all of this author's books and have to admit that this one is definitely my favourite! The storyline flowed along so well, with likeable characters, amazing scenery and the added bonus of doing up an old lighthouse! From the descriptions in the book, I could just imagine what the view from Meredith's living room must be like and definitely felt green with envy! It was such an easy to book to read, being light-hearted, heart-warming, fun and romantic in equal measures! If you want that little piece of escapism to sunny Cornwall, then look no further! This book is perfect! Would definitely recommend!

Wow, what can I say? I absolutely loved and adored this sweet, funny, cute, heartwarming, uplifting and delightful book! It is like a rainbow of mesmerising and inspiring energies caught up in words, which left me feeling happy, joyful, relaxed and uplifted, with a warm feeling in my heart. It was just pure bliss! It was so good that I read it all in one go as soon as I got it, because it just hooked me in, and then I couldn't put it down. I laughed out loud so much at the hilarious writing in the book. It is the funniest book I have ever read.

The story is about Meredith, who is nearly fifty years old, and is looking for a change in her life. On impulse, she buys a lighthouse in Cornwall with savings she inherited, which brings her more than she ever thought she could have. When she moves to her new local area, there are a few people who are not happy to see her, as well as lovely people who welcome and befriend her. One of these, a man called Clem, earns a special place in her heart after they form a wonderful friendship. Of course, there are a few rocky patches with Clem, getting the lighthouse up and running, and with the local villagers, but Meredith powers through, and tries to achieve her goals. There can't be a rainbow without a little bit of a storm, after all.

This is a really wonderful and amazing book, which has a fantastic catchy name, a beautiful vibrant cover, and a magical story set in a lovely place. What more could you want in a book? If you are looking for an easy to read romantic book which will fill you with sunshine and a warm glow, then this is the book for you! This is easily the best book I have read this year! Highly recommended!

My first Kim Nash book and I loved it. Meredith in a drunken moment brought a light house. It is her story of doing it up in remote Cornwall, making friends, falling in love and finding her mother..Absolutely brilliant
