Unfortunately I read this when long-term sick and so while I noted a star rating, at the time I didn't have capacity for reviews for everything I was reading, and am only now just getting round to giving my feedback. Sorry that's not super helpful

This was so beautiful. I loved both Hollis and Milli so much and felt such a deep connection to the writing and the characters. It's been a while.since a book has emotionally hooked me in ike this. Sarah Adler has done such an amazing job at creating this masterpiece.

I loved reading Rose and Elsie's story as.well. Just everything about this was heartwarming and tear-inducing joy.

I'm greatly looking forward to reading more by Sarah Adler.

I would like to thank the publisher for providing me with an ARC through NetGalley. As always, my opinions are entirely my own.

Mrs. Nash’s Ashes is a sweet and charming debut romantic connect by Sarah Adler. I had a wonderful time reading it. I adore Millie, her cheerful and unwavering optimism truly luminous. Hollis was a perfect skeptical grump to foil Millie’s sunshine and sweetness. The romance of Elise and Rose weaves throughout added a poignant touch. I can’t wait to pick up what’s next from Sarah Adler!!

incredibly easy 5 stars!

Wow wow wow. this is my favourite book of the month for sure! and in my top 3 romances so far this year. the best romance i’ve read in a while. this is incredible for a debut, like mind blowing. This was pretty much perfect from start to finish, i knew from the synopsis i would love this - something about it just caught my attention straight away and i was absolutely right.

this is one of those romance books that proves that the romance genre is so much more than just ‘man meets woman and falls in love’ both of the love stories that made up this book were completely and utterly beautiful from the get-go.

Millicent is trying to deliver Mrs Nash’s (her best friend) ashes to Mrs Nash’s true love of her life Elsie - so you get Rose & Elsie’s love story alongside Millie and Hollis’ as they take a road trip together to get to Elsie. This was executed so perfectly, seeing the past and present run alongside each other and seeing the little parallels in each of the stories. 🥲

Elsie and Roses love story was so beautiful from the very first line and so incredibly bittersweet. Millie and Hollis were a match made in heaven, the very definition of opposites attract, grumpy x sunshine, soulmates! i just think they were so so so perfect together. They had the BEST banter i’ve read in a long time and i’m such a sucker for good banter in romance books that actually makes me laugh because i feel like it’s so hard to find.

This book had me laughing out loud one page (cry laughing at a few points) and 3 pages later borderline weeping, i just cant get over how brilliant it was. i kinda wanna just cradle the book to my chest and sit with all the warm fuzzy feelings this story gave me.

Millie might be one of my new fav FMCS ever, she so delightfully weird and i loved her so so much <3

I feel like this review is so much longer than my normal but i just cannot stop with how much i enjoyed every single second of this book. i’ve so got my eyes out for Adlers next book - she has immediately become an auto buy author for me after this. i think this is one of them books that i’ll remember forever! ✨✨✨ kinda wanna reread already

What a charming book!
The characters had me hooked from the start.
It has a road trip, a crazy b’n’b and flash backs as Millie retells Mrs Nash’s story.
The characters really developed as we got to know them and they got to know themselves.

Thanks for the opportunity of reviewing this boom.

What an amazing debut novel this book was. From the first page, Sarah Adler had me wondering what would become of Elsie Brown, the woman who was loved by Rose McIntyre Nash. Millicent Watts-Cohen has undertaken the monumental task of reuniting Rose’s ashes with Elsie, a woman thought to have died during the Korean War. Millie is desperate to reach her and enlists the help of Hollis Hollenbeck, a friend of her ex-boyfriend. Their car journey us more than adventure and soon, Millie hopes that it can keep on going even after she meets Elsie. Yet she is unsure whether Hollis is still keen to reunite with the woman he was hoping to see again, or stay with her.
Two quite unique characters, with Millie who trusts everyone when maybe she shouldn’t and Hollis’ who is fearful of committing. I loved their adventures and all the characters they met. I could also understand why they were the way they were, particularly given their background. This was such a great read that I can hardly wait to see what else comes from this new talented author.
I received a complimentary copy of this book. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.

What a nice find. This was the first book I've read from this author and I really enjoyed it. The story was different from anything I've read recently and really captured my attention. It was so well written and the characters were fantastic.

I absolutely loved this road trip romance! Millicent and Hollis end up driving down to Florida in the hopes of allowing Millie to fulfil Mrs Nash’s final wish of uniting with her long-lost love.

This book was fun, emotional, and very sexy. I liked all the characters, especially the protagonists; they were flawed and argumentative at times which made them all the more real and likeable. Millie in particular was quirky without being annoying.

It can be difficult to execute a wild, zany female main character whilst resisting the manic pixie dream girl trope. This is something the book itself deals with, as Millie copes with having people perceive her that way and pushes back against it. I thought this was a really interesting aspect of the book, as Adler wrestled with the harmful ways women can be depicted in the media. As a result, this was one of the best portrayals of a weird female romantic lead that I have read, which really spoke to me as an autistic.

Adler handled difficult topics sensitively and in a way that did not detract from the comedy of the book.

‘Mrs Nash’s Ashes’ is an outstanding romcom and was an instant favourite for me.

Perfect road trip summer romance!

This story intertwines two captivating love stories: one set during World War II between Rosie and Elsie, and the other in the present between Hollis and Millie during their adventurous road trip.

I found all the characters to be incredibly endearing, with their unique blend of humour, wit, charm, and relatable insecurities. I was rooting for each of them. The ending is beautifully bittersweet, leaving a lasting impression. I will remember this story for a very long time. And now I desperately need some road trip adventures!

What are you waiting for? Go read it already!

A fun read, the story of Milly and Hollis who end up on a road trip together, each for their own reasons. I loved both characters by the end of the book, and wanted everything to work out for them.

Thanks to Quercus Books, Netgalley and the author for an ARC of this book. I am leaving this unbiased review voluntarily.

I am unspeakably happy as I write this review, and at the same time, so sad. It's just the right feeling to have when a book reaches inside you in the way this one did.

I don't do synopses - you can get those from the blurb on the book. And I try really hard not to give away too much of the storyline, which kind of makes it hard to review this book!

Mrs Nash's Ashes is ostensibly about two love stories, one happening during World War II between Rosie and Elsie, and one happening today between Hollis and Millie. They are all complicated, wonderful characters with so much depth and beauty that I wanted to take them in a little bag with me everywhere like Millie does with Rose's ashes.

I think, in a way, they all find their happy ending, even though the end is bittersweet. The writing is so good that I am going to be a fan of this author for life, I just know it. I knew from the first Pee Wee Herman reference.
