Cozy Coastal Knits is a collection of knitting patterns inspired by knitting at the beach.

The beginning chapter of the book gives very detailed descriptions of knitting needles. Advice is given for choosing needle gauges, wraps per inch gauges and stitch gauge tools.
There was also a helpful tutorial showing how to knit an accurate swatch for knitting in the round. Information is also given for substituting yarns, showing how different yarns will affect the look, feel and drape of the garment.

The pattern designs are classic, with simple style lines with stitch patterns can be easily memorized. The patterns include several ponchos, shawls, one shell and cardigan sized up to a 42” bust.
There are also cowl and fingerless glove patterns featuring different yarn weights and stitch pattern textures. I would have liked to have seen more shawl patterns and swearer patterns with sizing above 42” bust.

The patterns are clearly written, with special techniques and stitches clearly explained. Over all, Cozy Coastal Knits is a good choice for a beginning to intermediate knitter or for an experienced knitter wanting a relaxing knitting experience.

This is a nice knitting book that goes through all the basic information like needles, yarn, accessories, and how to get correct gauge. There are a variety of patterns, but none of them are very appealing to me or fresh.

I’m always intrigued to look at new knitting books to see what they bring to the table, and flipping through this one was a joy (virtually, since this was an ebook 😊). The photos are full of calming blues and mellow, sandy beiges and evokes a low-key coastal vacation vibe. The concept for the book is itself appealing: the author sets out to provide projects with various amounts of investment that one can knit while doing something or being somewhere that one would want to remember when handling the FO at some later point. “My closet became a cozy knit scrapbook of my coastal travels…” By making these creations somewhere new and precious, she brings those vacation feelings back to her everyday life, remembering good times every time she wears something fashioned far away.

The author delights in the process of knitting, evoking how one might feel when handling a delightful new yarn, and watching it slowly transform into a beautiful object with no pressure on finishing. There’s a feeling of peace. Of being on “vacation time.” And it is very tempting! There is an extensive section on techniques and materials with an emphasis on yarn choice, and how different yarns will impact the knitter’s enjoyment of the creation process as well as the finished object. I very much appreciated the suggestion for places to find more budget-friendly yarns that would act similarly to other, more luxury, offerings.

While this process-focus reminds me of the newer school of knitters who want to knit mindfully, this book also wants the reader to enjoy the small luxurious projects when they’re completed. I am particularly drawn to a good mitt, and this book has two different mitt projects, complete with options for how to pull them into a full set. A few larger or more involved projects are included as well, notably the ubiquitous husband’s sweater, a number of shawls and/or ponchos, and one really cozy shrug-like "storm cocoon” that made me want to hunt down some appropriate yarn and find my needles immediately, haha. There is even a skirt pattern to try!

For pattern inspiration that is as much about the enjoyment of the process as it is about the enjoyment of the created objects, I’d suggest any knitter hunt this book down and get ready to yearn for a new, luxurious yarn cake in their hands. My thanks to NetGalley, Stackpole Books, and the author for providing an e-arc for review.

When a new season approaches, I like to look for fresh ideas that I know will complement the new incoming season. This boom has wonderful ideas for incorporating spring colors for a color fun season!

eARC from NetGalley. I didn't get into the patterns before the book timed out, but the into information seemed more helpful and gave more depth than the cursory cookie-cutter info at the beginning of many craft books. Maybe worth a look for crafters new to the art.

I accessed a digital review copy of this book from the publisher.
The book includes plenty of information any new knitter will need to know. The patterns are a nice beachy style.

Cozy Coastal Knits is full of information about notions, yarn, and many tips. Most of the patterns are accessories like shawls and mitts, but my favorite was the men's sweater towards the end. The size range isn't terribly inclusive though, which lowers my rating.

Thank you for the arc of Cozy Coastal Knits. This is a nice book for beginning to intermediate knitters. It has lots of shawls and scarves that don't require perfect fitting. The knitting information at the beginning is clear and helpful. Personally, I didn't find the patterns that interesting or unusual, but it will be a nice place to start for many folks.

Cozy Costal Knits is a fairly standard knitting book. Pictures are plentiful and detailed and there are discussions of knitting tools and tricks.

Emphasis is placed on hats, mitts, cowls and ponchos, with multiple patterns for each. Nothing too tricksy here and an intermediate beginner should be able to complete most patterns. There is one pattern for a men's sweater, a women's shell and a skirt. Plus-size knitters: be aware that none of the garments are plus-sized, although if you're an experienced enough knitter you may be able to size the pattern up for yourself.

A decent addition to a knitting library, especially if you live (or have people you knit for who do) in places where knitted outerwear is needed.

NetGalley provided me with a free ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

I read "Cozy Coastal Knits" by Rosann Fleishauer on NetGalley. I think this is a great book that knitters would enjoy! The projects are great and the instructions seem very clear. I would be thrilled to have this in my knitting library!

This knitting book focuses on lightweight items, and is photographed in beautiful nautical locations. As with most knitting books, it begins with a good-sized section on techniques. The patterns consist of fingerless mitts, shawls/ponchos, cowls, and a couple of sweaters. With exception of the latter, they all seem fairly easy to make. The photos are very attractive, showing each item in a lovely sea shade (e.g., turquoise, lt. green, coral). There are also several drawings that illustrate how each item is put together. I would like to have seen more sweaters/shells in this book. There seemed to be a bit too many ponchos.

Thank you NetGalley and Globe Pequot for sending this book for review consideration. All opinions are my own.

Okay, I have to confess: I don't knit. But I do enjoy knitting porn and boy, does this book hit that spot! Gorgeous photographs, vignettes on how and where to wear the piece. I will learn to knit and when I do (& achieve some level of proficiency which may be more difficult), I will make some of these pieces. The author does make an interesting point; if you knit while traveling, your project will always evoke those memories. Gorgeous book with lovely patterns that I wish I could execute. #CozyCoastalKnits #NetGalley

Cozy Coastal Knits is suitable for all levels of knitters, from beginners to advanced. I enjoyed the stories that went with each pattern. The patterns are easy to follow. I'd say most of the patterns could be accomplished by a newer Knitter. There are 2 fingerless mitts, 3 cowls, 2 hats, 1 bandana, 3 shawls, 1 skirt, 1 shell/tank top, 1 shrug, 1 sweater, and 6 ponchos. About 40 percent the book is goes over various techniques and tips that would come in handy to newer knitters. I'm an advanced knitter and I definitely want to knit several of the patterns.

I can’t wait to knit the Nantucket Storm Cocoon and the Seven Mile Bridge poncho. The former because I love the sleeves and the latter because once a Florida girl always a Florida girl. The patterns were well laid out and very easy to understand even for beginners. Cast on y’all!!

Simply beautiful book with so many different projects, from novice to experienced knitters. I especially liked the colors of yarn used (primarily blues/greens) to evoke the coastal look. Wonderful book for knitters anywhere!

Although the patterns in this book are inspired by “coastal” colours, seascapes and locations, they would suit any area of the country. While there are some great patterns in here, I’m not sure you couldn’t find similar ones on multiple knitting sites. The instructions are detailed and thorough.

This book’s strong point is information about knitting in general – needles, gauge, blocking. Yarn substitution is addressed (and the acknowlegement that expense is a factor). Throughout the book are tips that are often truly helpful. For the most part the patterns didn’t grab me, partly because they are too warm – not all coasts are cold. I do like the hooded shawl and the instructions are well written. Although I may not make anything from this book it has been worth reading.
