Cute read, lots of funny characters but I found it a bit slower than I usually like my mysteries - It is the second in a series so there was a touch too much info dumping about what happened last book but that did make it easier to follow.
Well written and quality editing and loved the cover.

I absolutely loved this book! I hadn't read the first book before reading this one (I have now though and it's also 5 stars) but I had no trouble following who the characters were etc.

This book was unusual to me in the sense that the mystery was the least interesting part of it. And that's not an insult to the mystery -- it's a HUGE compliment to everything else in the book. The characters, the food, the town, the budding romance, the magic -- EVERYTHING! And especially my new favourite literary feline, Bob.

As previously mentioned, I've since bought and read the first book and loved it. And that's even knowing who the murdered was as it's discussed in book 2. I really hope this series continues with many, many more books!

I received a complimentary copy of this book from Crooked Lane Books through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own. Thank you, Crooked Lane Books.

Death by a Thousand Sips is a great story by Gretchen Rue.
Phoebe is a fun character, and her personality shines through in this book.
Anxious to attend an estate sale to hopefully add stock to her book store, she has no idea of the things that are about to happen.
The estate sale organizer seems cold and aloof, but Phoebe doesn't think on it too much, she's there to bid on books, and nothing more.
When the organizer is killed, Phoebe becomes a person of interest, so she turns to those around her for help trying to piece the puzzle together.
Her cat, Bob, is adorable and his quirky antics made me laugh out loud.
I'm excited to see how the series continues, and I'm happy to recommend this book to other readers.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for selecting me to read an advanced copy of the book.

It's turning spring in Raven Creek, Washington, and Phoebe Winchester has weathered her first fall and winter as owner of a tea shop and bookstore and she has settled in to her new home. When she heads off to an estate sales thst has a large lot of used popular fiction and paperbacks thst would sell well in the bookstore, she discovers, rather Bob her cat discovers, a dead body. Phoebe feels compelled to do a little sleuthing so she won't be suspect #1. Meanwhile, we get the everyday flow of life there and that is just charming. Really fallen in love with this series!

Death by a Thousand Sips the second in the Witches’ Brew series by Gretchen Rue is a delightful and engaging follow-up to the first book. Phoebe, owner of the bookstore/tea shop The Earl’s Study, is sourcing used books at an estate sale when - you guessed it - she discovers a dead body. Phoebe is once again off on an adventure that is filled with intrigue, humor and hints of magic.

This is a mystery filled with clues, suspects and unexpected twists. The author seamlessly weaves together elements of a traditional cozy with a bit of magic and witchcraft in a way that allow readers to lose themselves in the story. The characters are fun, quirky and relatable. (I reviewed an advance reader copy and all opinions are my own.). This is a must-read for anyone who loves charming cozy mysteries with a hint of magic.
