This book was so whiny I just couldn’t get into it. It wasn’t suspenseful or thrilling, just grating. Sorry, I was a DNF at 25%.

Also, the audiobook narrator for Cass’s character was so robotic it sounded like Siri was reading.

The quick engaging plot, an unhinged stalker, super unreliable narrators, multiple POV's...how could I not like this? I thoroughly enjoyed this story and while I figured out one of the twists fairly early, there were still so many for me to enjoy. With the audiobook, I will say that the narrators were not my favorite. They seemed very robotic in their reading. I don't know if that was by design, but it did not work for me. The story was so fun though and I was able to listen through it. I will definitely read more from this author.

When Cass receives an email from her husband's mistress, Emma, to tell her of their affair, she is stunned. But it doesn't stop with the email. Emma continues to stalk Cass and her family until one day, she disappears. Now the search is on to find Emma with Cass being a suspect.

I was really excited to read this one. I love fast paced psychological thrillers but unfortunately I managed to predict much of what was going to happen in this one. I wasn't even surprised when the big twist was revealed which makes me think maybe this book might be better marketed to those who are just beginning to read thrillers. Overall it was decent to listen to/read but nothing that wowed me.

This was a fairly average thriller and I'd recommend it if you like domestic thrillers. The opening grabbed my attention. Then the first half was slow, but it picked up toward the end with several twists and turns. I didn't really understand why these women were fighting over an incredibly mediocre man, but it was entertaining for a few hours. Ultimately, I figured out who the killer was fairly early on, which I don't mind. What I didn't like was the way it was done and thought it was a tired take.

This debut novel by Marie Still was a good, fast-paced thriller. I would have given 3.5, but we can't give half-stars so here it is: rounded up to 4.

The protagonist was highly relatable to me (not perfect, makes a lot of mistakes -- I hated pretty much everyone in the book, horrible people), I really cared about what would happen next. Most of the book is written from Cass's POV, but sometimes we get the husband's and the assistant's POV. I couldn't care as much for those chapters. While the ending was not a jaw-dropping moment (to be honest, I figured it out pretty early in the book and I don't think it is because I am a great detective), I really wanted to know how we would get there.

This debut novel by Marie Still was great, and I will read the next one.

Thank you NetGalley, Rising Action Publishing Co. and Marie Still for letting me read “We’re All Lying” in exchange for an honest review.

The title of this books say it all. This story was lie upon lie with a sprinkle of lies on top. The pacing was quick and easy to binge in one sitting. The narrators were all fantastic and I loved having a full cast for this audiobook. While this was entertaining, I did see the big plot twist coming from a mile away which spoiled the ending for me. That aside, this was a pretty enjoyable read!

Thank you to netgalley and the publishers for this audiobook in exchange for an honest review.

What a twisted novel about an account executive whose husband has an affair which when uncovered starts the twists - lies, lies and more lies are told by everyone. You can't trust or believe anyone in this story and it clearly becomes an interesting story of who is doing all of this and why. When you find out who and why it's just such a great twist to the story. Well done Marie Still and Dreamscape Media and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to preview this audio book.

I guess I'm an outlier with this one, so if you liked it don't come at me. But this book reminded me a lot (in dialogue and the way the main character acted) of The Perfect Marriage and if you know anything about me, you'll know that it's not a good thing.

The book opens with Cass and her husband being interviewed by a police officer because Emma, the woman who was stalking Cass and who had an affair with her husband Ethan, is missing. Then we go back in time and find out how Cass found out about the affair (text from Emma with photos) and go through a bunch of hysteria about whether or not Cass should forgive Ethan, then the stalking gets worse and worse.

The synopsis is really misleading, so I'd suggest you ignore it if you want to read this book. This is just a book filled with frenzied, out-of-control domestic drama with Cass throwing things and blurting things out and breaking things because she cannot keep herself under control. Let's not forget that her husband has been carrying on an affair for at least six months, and although she gives lip service to being angry with him for one night and makes him sleep in the guest room, the very next night she is all over him "because I can't resist him", gag. And to make matters worse, when she tells him she needs him to take responsibility for the affair he says he will if she does, blaming his cheating on her because she was so involved with work. I cannot believe a woman wrote this drivel. These are two people desperately in need of counseling, particularly when they keep lying to each other and make things worse and worse.

This book is a complete mess and I figured out right away what had happened to Emma (and I was correct). The ending segment is just so out of left field that I was reeling from the bizarre turn of events. I listened to the audiobook and while I did like the narrator for the (very small number of) chapters narrated by Ethan, Cass's narrator was not good and Alice's narrator was very bland. I felt like Cass's narrator made her seem more unhinged than she was on the page if that was possible.

Like I said, there are others who enjoyed this much more than I did, so check out their reviews because it's not a thriller I can get behind. Frantic women who get blamed for their husband's cheating are at the bottom of my list for books I personally enjoy.

The story was pretty good, though a little predictable. I really hated the protagonist so the author did a good job of writing her. I didn't love the performance by the narrator so that might have hindered my view some. Overall, it's a good story & I would recommend.

The plot was great and the twists and turns numerous, albeit sometimes obvious. I was a bit disappointed that the main characters were utterly unlikeable - each and every one of them.

I don’t usually put the book description in my review, but I really don’t know where to start with this one so I’m going to try to structure my thoughts using the description.

How far would you go to keep what’s yours?

This is a great tagline and designed to draw the reader in, however, this does not apply to this story.

Someone is hunting Cass.

We are told this, but it is never really shown or described in the present, just in the past. There is no tension, no suspense, and I never felt that Cass was being hunted.

Our first narrator is Cass:
Cass lives an enviable life: a successful career (she has her own company), two great kids, and a handsome husband (Ethan). Then an email from her husband’s mistress, Emma, brings the façade of perfection crumbling around her, setting off a chain of events where buried secrets come back to haunt her.

Cass is all over the place and supposedly a hardcore business woman but is also a doormat? She makes horrible decisions and is so obsessed with keeping her husband who is clearly trash. She is surrounding by some friends—Julie, Laura, Victoria, but they are just caricatures.

Our second narrator is Ethan:
The husband of Cass who is cheating. His narrator is slightly better but not much. Not really sure of the point of hearing from him as it adds absolutely nothing to the story.

A taunting email turns into stalking and escalates into much worse. Ethan and Cass try to move on, then Emma disappears. No longer considered a victim, Cass finds herself the prime suspect and center of the investigation. —This is INCREDIBLY misleading. This happens about 80% into the book after a bunch of back and forth about Emma loving then hating Ethan every other sentence

Our third narrator is Alice:
Her role is obvious, but no spoilers. She is one dimensional and could have been developed so much more.

Cass apparently has dark secrets—including ones she didn’t know existed—that threaten to destroy everything they’ve worked for. Almost 85% of the way in and still no secrets.

This is described as a fast-paced psychological thriller with jaw-dropping twists but I would describe this as not at all thrilling with ridiculous dialogue, more telling than showing, and a confusing plot with characters that are very unlikable. My jaw did not drop once.

It is possible that this story would be better as a physical book. I listened to the audiobook and there are three narrators. Even so, I struggled to separate Cass, Ethan, and Alice. The narrators were so flat, monotone, and boring that I would often drift off. But I still didn’t feel like I missed anything or needed to go back. There was no inflection or any display of emotion with the narration so anger, fear, happiness, sadness, or any feeling was not at all conveyed and there was A LOT of dialogue that was made seemingly mundane. I would 100% recommend different narrators prior to releasing the audiobook. I would not have finished this if it was not a complimentary copy. It was not for me. The whole book I was thinking, what? who? why??? The conclusion came completely out of nowhere with absolutely no groundwork laid prior to the reveal.

Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for a copy in exchange for my honest review. All opinions are my own.

Yes! We’re All Lying is a thriller and domestic suspense lover’s must read! There are so many twists you won’t know which way to turn. The characters are so interesting, so flawed, that it’s hard to know which way is up, and who has done what.

If you like a story you can’t predict outcomes to, this book is for you. Just be prepared to binge read because you won’t be able to put it down.

The audiobook was performed by three narrators, and they all did a fantastic job at creating an audio world for this awesome story. I listened at 1.75x speed, which is my normal.

Thank you NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for this advanced audio copy. A special shout out to Rising Action Publishing and Marie Still for bringing this story to us.

An exciting debut novel that kept me guessing!!

I was really intrigued by the description of this novel. I was thrilled to have the opportunity to review the e-book as well as the audiobook.

Usually if I like the book then I like the audio too. In this case, I definitely preferred the e-book. I just couldn't get into the audiobook. Two of the three narrators were fine but the main one was very difficult to listen to. Their voice was robotic and monotone.

However, I still enjoyed the book. A dramatic and twisty tale of love and betrayal. I didn't care for the characters as much as I would have hoped but I still found myself engrossed in the story.

Overall, a good debut from Marie Still. I've already added their next book to my to be read list for 2024.

This book had me hooked until the 80% mark, and then I lost most of my interest. I didn’t care for the twist at the end, nor did I care for Cass’s actions.

I received an advanced copy. All thoughts are my own.

I'm not lying, this book was great! While I'm not lying, most of the characters in this book are!

Secrets and lies are the name of the game!

Cass was having a great day until she received an email from her husband's mistress, Emma, informing her of their affair. She even provides proof in the form of pictures. Cass is a mess. She trusted Ethan, her husband. She didn't see this coming but will the pictures as proof, she goes on a mission to bring down his mistress. Ethan, himself, is a mess in another way. He has been lying to his wife for some time and finds himself in hot water, but he also makes some questionable decisions.

Cass and Ethan decide to go to marriage therapy but then Emma goes missing! Cass is considered the prime suspect after a public meltdown and other bad decisions come to light.

This was a gripping and entertaining book. I listened to the audiobook and enjoyed all the narrators. I loved how the plot unfolded and more secrets were revealed. There were a lot of twists along the way which shocked and kept me engaged.

Shocking, entertaining and gripping.

I love a good domestic thriller. Lies, cheating, backstabbing. I was drawn in at first and the book was fast paced enough, but it almost went too over the top.

Much was predictable. I disliked all the characters, which isn't a problem for me. I did want more of the husband's side of the story. But what a mess of people this was!

I read in a day and it was enjoyable enough. I just found myself waiting for that ah-ha moment, but I guessed everything. Still an entereting read with lots of drama!

I would check out more from this author. And I enjoyed the narration.

Many thanks to NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for an ALC in exchange for my honest review.

Cass has everything that everyone else wants, a hot husband, two kids, a good career working for herself, but what she doesn't know is that her life is about to blow up. She receives and email from a girl named Emma who is her husband's mistress that she had no idea existed. When Emma surprisingly disappears after stalking and harassing Cass, Cass becomes the suspect not the victim.

This book had so much drama from the mistress, to the husband and all his lies and even Cass' assistant, there were so many characters to watch out for. It really did pull me in and want me to keep listening. I did struggle a little bit with the narrators and felt that it was so monotone and it didn't help add to the suspense of the book.

Thank you NetGalley for the ARC of this book. This book was very intriguing at first and was sucked in right away. It fell apart around 75%. I started to hate the two main characters, and the ending was just awful. The ending made no sense whatsoever and found myself asking where did this come from? It was rushed and could have been done better. The book left me feeling annoyed and like there should have been more.

This audiobook was GRIPPING! I could not freaking figure out where it was going and that forced me to just keep listening. I loved the twists and I thought it was a very interesting concept. I am also a sucker for an unreliable narrator so bonus points there also!

This book is about Cass and her perfect life. Well she thought it was perfect until she got an email from her husband’s mistress. It has a few twists and turns that make for a great read.
