This is the Author's second book featuring Letty Davenport (adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport - Prey series )
and in my opinion can be read as a standalone

Letty's second outing has her paired with an overweight computer geek to infiltrate a hacking gang who have been creating havoc and demanding ransoms from sites they have hacked
They soon accomplish their aim of infiltrating the group - but all is not as it seems .
Have they been given all the information they need , who can they trust or is there another agenda at play ?
Can they survive , can Democracy survive ?

This is a fast paced thriller with moments of humour that will keep the reader engrossed from the first page to the last - Politics aside
I look forward to reading the next "Letty" instalment from this entertaining Author

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own

Letty Davenport is back, and this time she’s taking no prisoners. The new incredible thriller from the #1 global bestseller.

Letty Davenport’s days working a desk job are behind her. Her previous actions at a gunfight in Texas – and her incredible skills with firearms – draw the attention of several branches of the US government, and make her a perfect fit for even more dangerous work.

The Department of Homeland Security tasks her with infiltrating a hacker group that is intent on wreaking havoc nationwide. Letty and her reluctant partner from the NSA pose as free-spirited programmers for hire and embark on a cross country road trip to the group’s California headquarters.

But soon they begin to suspect that the hackers are not their only enemy. Someone within their own circle may have betrayed them, and has ulterior motives that place their mission – and their lives – in grave danger.

This was a great read that really drew me in. Loved it

The start of this confirmed my preconceptions about American crime fiction, lots of shooting , different agencies who do not, seemingly, work together, sensationalism and lots and lots of fast food . This book contained all that, but also had a great plot which reeled me in and kept my interest throughout. Yes there were a lot of guns, burgers and burritos but there was also a storyline told from different viewpoints about computer crime and espionage . I liked the main characters, Letty and her overweight sidekick, Rod . Other characters were also interesting . The thinking behind their plan of action was informative and made sense . As the book progresses, the action speeds up and it was unputdownable. A great read.

I have long been a fan of John Sandford’s Prey series with the main character Lucas Davenport. Dark Angel is the second in the Letty Davenport series, following The Investigator.

Letty Davenport is the adopted daughter of Lucas Davenport. Her background is one that is both dark and violent and Letty herself is now no stranger to the use of lethal firearms. She is a Stanford graduate with a master’s in economics and she ostensibly works for Republican U.S. Senator Colles. In reality though, Colles has her doing investigative work the Department of Homeland Security.

Dark Angel could hardly be more contemporary and as fast paced action thrillers with a contemporary edge go, this one is right up there. This time she is on a joint investigation with the Department of Homeland Security and the NSA. Her job is to infiltrate a hacker group known as Ordinary People who create havoc and make money from demanding ransoms after hacking corporate websites. Intelligence tells them that this group is planning to cut off gas supplies in the midst of a freezing winter.

Letty isn’t a computer expert, but they pair her with Rod Baxter, a real Twinkie eating computer geek for this job. Although they don’t take long to make contact and begin to make inroads into the group, Letty does not take long to suspect that she isn’t being told the whole truth.

When the real story emerges, it becomes clear that Letty and Baxter are in a fight for not only their lives, but for freedom and democracy.

There’s lots of quite gungo-ho politics in this, so you just have to go with the flow here in what is a very fast moving, thriller with lots of action and some great characters. I loved Letty’s Peacemaker colleagues and Barb Cartwright in particular; who I am sure we will see more of in future episodes.

There’s some good wry humour in this action packed thriller that’s as contemporary as it can be and Sandford writes a taut and fascinating thriller with plenty of shoot-outs to keep the pace flowing.

Verdict: A great new series with a kick-ass female protagonist. I lapped it all up. Thank goodness for guns and America.

Dark Angel is a complex but exciting thriller that at times has you on the edge of your seat.
Homeland security have an undercover job for Letty Davenport. Information has come to light that blackmailing hacker group ‘ordinary people’ is planning to cut off gas supplies to various states that in the depths of freezing winter would cause chaos and many depths. Teaming up with Baxter a NSA nerdy computer hacker they are tasked with infiltrating this group, obviously not a simple as it sounds added to this is it starts to appear that they may be being betrayed by someone in their own organisation.
A good thriller that has action, danger and surprises, with people that will stop at nothing for their cause. This is my first book but this author which I enjoyed, it made no difference to the story that I have not read the previous book with Lottie’s introduction.
My thanks to net galley and publisher for the opportunity to review this book honestly.

Another great book From one of the world’s greatest mystery writers. A fast ride and one you won’t want to put down

Letty is back with a new sidekick, who pose as programmers for hire, trying to trap hackers. They soon realise that the hackers may not be their only problem. Have they been betrayed by ine of their own and where will the lead them.

Lots of hard core secret missions with fake personas which could get them killed by criminals other than from the usa.

Letty Davenport gets paired with an NSA hacker to infiltrate a hacking group out in California thinking about shutting off gas lines in early 2022. The group, Ordinary People, had done a job earlier that had Russian railroads going crazy. Now the NSA and others were interested in how they did it and would it work again. Add in Russians out for revenge, crazy researchers, and the Lady Peace-Makers and you have a fun Sandford thriller to read!

Thanks Netgalley for the chance to read this title!

If you like a first rate thriller then this is the book for you. Petty Davenport is no normal agent and she is tasked to infiltrate a group of hackers. These are no normal hackers as they have brought down some very large companies. Their mission is to aid a country at war. This is an action packed read which I devoured in one sitting. This book is a MUST READ for all readers of this genre. Loved it!!!!!!!
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC in return for giving an honest review.

Another ripper from this master story teller. A clever, complex story which features the usual colourful characters as well as some new ones who also do not disappoint. I loved the Prey series but think Sandford has, in Letty Davenport, created a protagonist to take this series even further than that.

Dark Angel is the second book in the Letty Davenport series after The Investigator and I've really enjoyed reading both. it has a great plot, good characterisation and contains more than a smidgeon of humour. What more does a good thriller need? It is also quite topical with reference to the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
