3.5 stars.
Poems For Peole Who Care is a book of poems dedicated to those among us who care for others. The author himself isn't a taught poet, but he made a fine job at putting this book together. The poems help you understand what it means not only to care for someone but what it takes too - hard work, commitment, dedication, blood sweat and tears and the emotional hit it can have on a person as well as how tiring and frustrating it can be at times too. Carers are heros and go unrecognised as such, and this book, in essence, is a thank you and nod to them to say how much they are appreciated, understood, and respected too. This book shows the ups and downs, happy and sad and leaves you with a greater respect for those selfless enough to care for others out of love.

Patrick J McTaggart's work has come into my life at the perfect time. As I'm starting this journey of caring for a loved one in a new way, it's been extremely helpful to hear someone put my thoughts into words and to have advice from someone who has been dealing with it for a while. Very thankful to have read this.

This was very poignant - I am a carer for people with dementia and I resonated with some of the poems. I am used to reading poems that rhyme so it took me a while to get used to the way it is written.

A good insight to an awful disease which hopefully one day will be minimised.

As a new carer to my recently disabled husband this book spoke to me.
Although it was mainly about dementia patients so many words were so true in any caring situation.
If you are a carer looking after a loved one read this book!
Thank you Patrick J McTaggart for writing from the heart and sharing it.
Thank you NetGalley

A book full of emotional poems that were very beautifully written. This was described as being a book for. Carers of people with dementia but I think that others reading it may get to understand the issues that the carers face. It may be that someone who is not an carer may know someone who is a carer and it may help them to understand what that person is going through. I can see that this might be a useful book for the carer groups that are set up to give support and help to those who are carers

I am not a carer but can empathize with many of these poems. The emotional weight of reading some of these poems is tough especially Guilt as dementia can be so hard for both the person and the carers. I would recommend this book to those who are not carers because I believe it can provide insight to allow for empathy in the future if you know someone with dementia or a carer. For carers I would also recommend this book as there are many poems that will speak deeply to you.

I received a digital copy of "Poems for People Who Care" from NetGalley.

This book was an emotional collection of poems about Dementia and being a carer. Most of the poems were fairly simple and the themes were a tad repetitive, but the emotional aspect of the writing really came through. I appreciated the honesty within the words and the works. I found this to be a good collection and I would recommend it to those with a connection to the main subjects.

Thanks again, NetGalley!
