I was really hoping for a spookier book with more focus on the haunted house, but I was very pleasantly surprised and enjoyed this book until the very end. While listed in the horror genre, I would classify this more as a suspense/action novel with elements of the supernatural.

Kat has made a mess of her life. Because of drug addiction, she's lost her husband, her home, her whole life really. After being sent to prison and ratting out the drug kingpin she worked for, she is constantly looking over her shoulder once released. She knows him and knows he'll be coming for her. She finds refuge in an abandoned farmhouse in the middle of the woods, which cranks up the creepiness factor. She starts cleaning up, settling in for the long haul, when she begins seeing a woman's spirit walking past the front door every night. Unfortunately, if you're looking for a ghost story, you'll have to keep looking because apart from a few instances with a psychic medium literally speaking with spirits, that's the extent of this part of the plot.

I thought the subplot about the earthquakes was uninteresting, but I liked the characters that were introduced because of it.

All in all, I thought it was a very good read. I had a hart time putting it down and was not disappointed at all.

When Katrina got arrested she lost everything her husband her life but when she turned over all the drug cartel her actual existence hung in the balance. So when she got out of prison on parole her only choice was to break it or wait for Harvin the head killer in the cartel to come and get her no worries though cat had a plan she found an abandoned farmhouse that was hidden from the road hadn’t been lived in in years and decided to become a squatter, but unlike most squatters she decided to clean the farmhouse from top to bottom. The very first night she seen an apparition pass the half bath off the living room but as it didn’t bother her she didn’t think twice about it. That night her nightmares started her most common one was either the snake with dinosaur hands or Harvin with the drill bit either one head or waking and gasping for breath what happened on the third night however was the catalyst for her life changing in many ways. She woke up not knowing what had waking her and then the walls started to tremble but it can’t be an earthquake in the middle of Wisconsin… Kennett? This is what had size milelogist running from every corner of the world but the first to make it to the farmhouse was Justin Annette first cat whisperer TURB someone would interrupt her sanctuary the more she got to know him the more she like them and although his theory about the micro plume causing evil was something she scarf that by the end of the stay at the farm house or mine would definitely be changed. I want so much to say what happened in this book but because I didn’t know and it made the book that much better for me let me just say they have twist turns jump leaps and they’re all authentic in all OMG moments. I love this book so much I’m smiling while riding my review. They have some power normal aspects in the book but they totally go along with the theme of the book and she even gets a pet dog whose name is Mack… I love him so much! I cannot recommend this book enough if you love Horror good versus evil then you definitely love the stock I absolutely loved it! I received it from NetGalley and the publisher but I am leaving this review voluntarily please forgive any mistakes as I am blind and dictate my review.

I started reading this one last night, but I had to stop after four chapters. The book is very poorly written just from a grammar perspective. There are an epic proportion of sentence fragments, run on sentences, one word quips and just bad word play throughout the four chapters I read. Beyond the English grammar issues, the character building is very bad. We jump from one scene where there is a drug bust described at best as a B rated movie plot to an old abandoned farm house. The main character describes other people in her life as though the audience should know their background and the plot builds like a broken record skipping over and over annoying the reader to borderline insanity. If I could give it 0 out of 5 stars I would certainly do so. Not impressed by this one at all.

LOVED this story, had the best of both worlds-real life issues crossed with the paranormal! Threats on all sides for Kat and the people she lets in her life while on the run from the cartel. Slowly builds then takes off until the end, loved the characters and pace! Very well written! Will definitely add this author to my follow list!

This is an action thriller with a unique supernatural element that will leave you wanting more.

The central characters are a woman running from a drug cartel, a geologist who has a theory about the nature of evil, and a psychic who prefers the presence of spirits to that of the living.

These unlikely allies come together when very bizarre things begin to happen in a small Wisconsin town. While Kat, our central protagonist, is condemned to a life on the run because of her poor choices and past associations, she reluctantly allows the other two characters into the abandoned farmhouse she has chosen to hide in.

But with a ruthless and deadly cartel on her heels, unexplainable violent events rocking the town, and only a hypothesis from a geologist, Kat finds herself in unfamiliar territory, never knowing who to trust. And with several bodies in the basement, she's ill equipped for the supernatural forces being unleashed.

This novel is fast paced, exhilarating, and feels like the best parts of both a thriller and an other worldly horror. It's really a great book and I recommend it!

On the run from a drug cartel Kat Lundquist is hiding out literally in the middle of nowhere. Strange this start happening in the area of the abandoned farmhouse she is squatting in.

I want to say excellent character development. I felt like the characters were well formed and either likeable on their role. My favourite is Max ahh we all need a life companion like him.
The writing style is enjoyable. The character’s different points of views and narratives are easy to follow. The events could almost seem realistic .
The one thing I personally against is so much details about geology. I did feel like I was sitting in however, as the book continues on, it is important to know important details to understand the overall story.

This story is not at all what I expected. It definitely reads more like horror than a ghost story.

I enjoyed this book very much. It was fast paced and suspenseful. Very well written.

I received this book from NetGalley and Land Of Oz LLC in exchange for an honest review. This statement is always true. I’m not given compensation to discuss a book and I’m not told how to rate a book. I am given a book in exchange for my opinions on it, and I am truthful in all my reviews whether I loved them or not.

First, I want to say excellent character development. I felt like the characters were well formed and either likeable - or not, depending on their role. Kat is running from a drug cartel that she flipped on and lives off grid. The earth is shifting and she is in fear of not just the drug cartel, but the evil that lurks below.

The writing style is enjoyable. The characters different points of views and narratives are easy to follow. The events could almost seem realistic as Ms. Lloyd captures the attention of the readers.

The one thing I personally could have done without as the in depth look at geology. I did feel like I was sitting in a college class as a student, however, I will also say that ax the book continues on, it is important to the overall story and the chain of events that follow.

Overall, no complaints, great story, my heart pounded throughout certain parts where I felt uncertain of the outcome and had a feeling of satisfaction when it came to a close.

Thank you NetGalley and Land of Oz, LLC for the opportunity to ARC this book.
