A great thriller - I would recommend it!

A gripping, suspenseful read that I truly couldn't put down. I loved every second of this book and didn't want it to end!

This was a middle of the road one for me. I liked the dual timelines, but the pacing was slow and I didn’t care for the ending. Thanks for the review copy!

The Other Husband is a book about obsession and lies. Cleo writes books, which are adapted for television at which point people are getting hurt in ways similar as happen in the show. She's now the suspect and on a quest to uncover who's behind it all and why they're doing it. This was a bit of a difficult read for me, but I suspect that's entirely subjective and others would really enjoy this book.

My Other Husband by Dorothy Koomson is a highly recommended thriller.

The novel opens with Cleo Forsum Pryce being charged with attempted murder but she is not guilty. Then chapters jump back in time to weeks earlier when she begins to take steps to ruin her life. These chapters alternate with chapters set in 1996 when she was a student and best friends with Trina. Weeks before the charge, Cleo is divorcing her husband. and is going to end the successful TV series 'The Baking Detective' based on her book. She is sabotaging her own life before her past secrets catch up with her. Now people around her are starting to get hurt and someone is trying to frame her for murder.

The alternating chapters work well to contrast Cleo then and now. She was fun, happy, and carefree and now is obviously carrying a heavy burden. The characters are fully realized and resemble real people, even the antagonists. It is revealed why Cleo is sabotaging her life through the look into her past.

However, the novel does have a a very slow pace after the attention-grabbing opening and doesn't really pick up until after the half-way point. The second half is intense, full of plot twists and suspense. It is a story about obsession, but is also full of murders and revenge. The final denouement is very satisfying. All in all, My Other Husband is a very good thriller but the slow pacing in the first half lessened my enjoyment.

I’m finding it really hard to summarize this book without giving anything away, the best I can say, is about obsession, addiction, and hiding the truth. The main character, Cleo is a novelist, whose books were adapted for a TV series, and people around her are getting hurt, just as people have in the show, which makes her the prime suspect. But why? Who is behind these murders and will she be able to protect her secret?

I struggled to finish this one. I didn’t feel any connection to the characters, and I felt like it was too slow paced for the majority of the book. There were some fast paced sections/chapters, which I did enjoy. I just felt like the many points of view and time changes made it hard for me to follow along. I put this book down several times, but I was committed to finishing it. It took me months to get through the whole thing.

Thrilling and suspenseful novel that keeps you guessing.
Two husbands with one who is obsessed! Why are people in her life winding up injured or killed and everything is not what it seems. Recommend this book! Pick it up! Thank you Netgalley for the ARC of this book. This book was not for me . I was excited by the description but the entire first half of this book bored me. I struggled to finish

A slow burn that never quite caught fire for me.

The opening was promising and an interesting set up but then dragged. By the time the action started I was not invested in the story anymore.

The dialogue seemed choppy to me which took away from the story flow.

Thank you, Hachette Book Group and NetGalley, for a copy of My Other Husband prior to the paperback debut.

Not my favorite. It felt very repetitive at times, and the story just kind of dragged. The ending was great, but I just wanted more before we got to that point.

Cleo Forsum is a novelist whose novel is turned into a hit TV show. She's married to the love of her life, and from what everyone can tell, she has it all. When her past catches up with her, she is forced to walk away from her entire life. As she's trying to tie up loose ends, she finds herself caught in the web of a murder investigation. She knows who is framing her, but why would he do that when she is trying so very hard to give it all up for him?

This book started really great for me and I enjoyed the description of the book. The first half of this book though, was so long and drawn out with nothing happening but back story. Things didn’t start to happen until around 40% and by that point I was one foot out the door. The novel picked up after that but I just couldn’t get back into it enough. The author is a great story teller so if you are looking for that, this is your novel! Thank you NetGalley for the advanced copy in exchange for an honest review!

This was unnecessarily long. It could have been shortened by half. It took me a really long time to get into this because it was poorly written & there was no excitement or tension.

This book was good but not great. I loved the elements and the storyline but felt the execution wasn’t the best. It felt very predictable and didn’t feel fresh or unique

Slightly slow start but then the story really gets going. This book has a dual timeline following Cleo from university to adulthood. There are so many twists and turns with the mystery.

This book started off slow but then ramped up. I got the book from #netgalley to read in advance then to review. As I said, it started out slow but then like Ms. Koomson, the adventure began. From the toxic relationship between Cleo and Heath to dangerous obsession within their relationship, I was on the edge of my seat. Guess who is being framed for murder! #netgally; #myotherhusband.

I was really looking forward to this book as I LOVED her previous books, I even pre-ordered this but I’ve been disappointed. After waiting nearly half the book for it to get interesting, the ending then got super slow again despite it being super predictable. The drama could’ve been made stronger.

4.5 stars!! Great googly moogly. This one was chock full of nuts and flakes! The crazy was coming out of everywhere, and I absolutely loved every minute of it. It kept me on my toes and was a delightfully despicable tale of obsession and mental instability. At first, I wanted someone to look at me like Heath did Cleo. But I've changed my mind!! I don't want Heath to look at me at all. Nope, nothing to see here!!! I thoroughly enjoyed watching this train go off the rails. The plot was intricate and very well executed and I easily lost myself in the pages.

Thank you to Net Galley & Hachette books for an ARC of this book for my honest review. Although this had a great concept, I had a hard time being invested in the story because it was such a slow go. Just not my taste of writing. This feel more of a family drama than a thriller. Not bad, just ok. 3 star
