Better later than ever - my review took little detour.
Carters and Sam’s story was so adorable! It was great story, with funny (main) characters. Maybe the only thing I was missing was how the MMC didnt have own growth written.
I loved sweet and swoon book without spicy, so it was book to my taste.

I received an arc of this title from NetGalley for an honest review. I did not enjoy this book and did not finish it either. The narrator was great but the story was lacking and I didn’t feel the connection between characters.

Maid of Dishonor is a cute book. I like Sam and Carter together, Sam's neighbor is funny. I felt bad for Sam and her mom, Sam's lucky she had Carter there to help her thru the bad parts. The plan to sabotage Maya is hilarious. I like this book a lot, I'll have to listen to the rest of the series.

Samantha and Carter and best friends, stuck in the friend zone since high school. As they plan his cousin’s wedding, they both realize they are falling for each other but neither of them knows what to do about it.

Maid of Dishonor is a sweet, funny, endearing romance that will leave you wanting more, so good thing there are two more books in this series. I listened on audio and enjoyed the dual narrators telling each characters point of view. They were perfectly cast as Carter and Samantha.

"Maid of Dishonor" by Gracie Ruth Mitchell is a lighthearted romantic comedy that offers moments of humor and charm but also leaves room for improvement.

One of the strengths of the book is its humor. Mitchell infuses the story with witty banter and comedic situations, providing readers with plenty of laughs along the way. The protagonist's misadventures as a bridesmaid, struggling to meet her friend's wedding demands, are relatable and entertaining.

The characters in "Maid of Dishonor" are endearing, if somewhat predictable. The protagonist's journey of self-discovery and personal growth is a central theme, and her transformation throughout the story is heartwarming. While the supporting characters have their quirks, they could benefit from more depth to make them truly memorable.

The writing style is engaging and easy to follow, making it a quick and enjoyable read. The dialogue flows naturally, and Mitchell effectively captures the camaraderie among the bridesmaids.

In conclusion, "Maid of Dishonor" is a fun and charming rom-com with a likable protagonist and moments of humor. While it doesn't break new ground in the genre and could benefit from more depth in its characters, it offers an enjoyable escape for readers seeking a light-hearted love story.

Maid of Dishonor is a fun little rom com. We have two best friends, Sam and Carter who are inseparable. Many people see them as a couple already, but they will never cross that line in fear of loosing what they have that is so special. They work together to plan a wedding for Carter's cousin Mya in a tough situation, newly pregnant with a handout boyfriend who is suddenly turned fiancé??? Throughout the planning they ultimately fall harder for each other. Ultimately you end up screaming at these two, ummm you're perfect for each other!!! All of us ladies want a Carter in our lives!! But they each need to work trough some past issues first.

Overall this was a cute audiobook. The narrators Eva Wilhelm and Brandon Utah did a great job. Gracie Ruth Mitchell wrote a good story that is only book one in the series, I cannot wait wo see where it takes us.

Maid of Dishonor
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Genre: Romance
Author: Gracie Ruth Mitchell
GR: 3.78

I requested a digital advanced readers copy from NetGalley and Dreamscape Media and providing my opinion voluntarily and unbiased.

My Thoughts: This is the first book in the Love Mishaps series. It follows two best friends as they work on the wedding for Carter’s cousin, even though it’s a wedding that should not happen in the first place. Through the course of planning, each best friend secretly falls in love with the other, even more so. This follows the tropes of friends to lovers. This is a clean closed romance novel with humor.

The story is narrated in a dual perspective from Samatha and Carter, one of my favorite type of narrations. Sam was kind, caring, and wore her heart on her sleeve. Carter is not the commitment type, kind, and extremely protective of Sam. The characters were well developed, with depth, amazing witty banter, awesome inner banter, chemistry, and the MCs just clicked in so many ways. The author’s writing style was complex, crisp, fun, and humorous. The supporting characters, like Maya, were great; I was frustrated with her at the beginning but grew to love her at the end.

The narrators were great and had amazing voice variation. The narrators just have this ability to pull you in and immerse you into the story. I have read the first two books in the series and LOVED them both. Very cute, romantic, funny, and just enjoyable. This book just made me happy and feel good. I would highly recommend this book and the series.

A light and fluffy romp in a summer beach read of romantic comedy - it lived up to my HEA needs in the moment.

I laughed and cried so much reading this. For all the best reasons. Narrator made the story cone to life and I found myself wanting to know more

I mistakenly got this one, not realizing it was an audio book. Oops! I prefer reading to listening to a book.

Nonetheless, I enjoyed it and connected to both characters. One conversation could have saved the day. Oh well, such is life.

I would read (listen?) again.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publishers for the ARC. All views are my own.

The characters aren’t likeable at all. I feel like the author was going for a “my best friends wedding” feel, but I actually enjoyed that movie- this is didn’t. I couldn’t even bring myself to finish it.

This was a first time read for me by this author and it definitely won't be my last. I actually listened to this as an audiobook and it was such a cute and fun story! Sam and Carter have been the best of friends and secretly have feelings for each other. Neither of them wants to risk losing their friendship, so they keep their feelings to themselves. When Carter's cousin asks for Sam's help in planning her wedding, Carter has other plans and asks for her help in stopping it, because her fiance is nothing more than a deadbeat. Sam agrees and as they work together, they grow closer and Sam confesses her true feelings to Carter. But no sooner does she do that, she pushes him away, sure that he doesn't feel the same about her.
This book was really great, with wonderful characters and the narration was done really well. A really sweet story that gave me all the feels! I look forward to reading/listening to more books by this author.
I received a complimentary copy from Netgalley and am voluntarily leaving my review.

This ended up being a DNF for me I didn’t care much for either main character and found them some what selfish. Will look into picking up and trying this again in the future but I honestly just can’t get through it right now.

I really enjoyed this book, predominantly because of the brilliant narration. The narrators brought the story to life, and by having both sides of the couple provide their own versions, there was a significant increase in the tension level as the story progressed.
At its simplest, this is a story of friends-to-lovers where one is open to the idea of a relationship while the other is not. How long the secret back and forth would go before one cracks is the focus of the narratives.
Samantha and Carter are both school teachers. In between the romantic confusion, their jobs are given enough space and time to make it feel like a reader can imagine what it would be like to work such a role in the country. She has always held out a hope that Carter would show some interest in her, something that would have her finally revealing her innermost wishes. While some sort of ultimatum crosses her mind, Carter's cousin calls them weeping. The latter has very few people to call her own and is turning to these two to help her plan and carry out a hurried wedding to the most ineligible of men. The more we hear of the man-boy, the restraint shown by our lead pair feels applause-worthy.
Sam and Carter decide to sabotage the wedding and lean into the hippie mood that Maya tends to hold on to like a life raft. Initially, I felt a little bad for the cousin role, but towards the end, the author brought me around by showing us what points of view can do to show a story in a particular manner.
I recommend this book in the audio format. I listened to it almost at a stretch to see it all the way to the end. Given a chance, I would love to find out how Maya finds her happily-ever-after.
I received an ARC thanks to NetGalley and the publisher, but the review is entirely based on my own listening experience.

I have a soft spot for friends to lovers romances. I always had a wish that I had a friendship that could have turned into more but all my friends are gay so that went out the window quick haha. But this was such a cute rom com and a quick fun read. Would recommend.

I remember hearing great things about this book when it was released so I was thankful for the opportunity to listen to and review the audiobook when it became available. I am always game for a friends to more story so I knew I would not be disappointed. I appreciated the humor in addition to the romance and the fact that it was a clean read but not lacking in chemistry between the characters. I enjoyed having both Samantha and Carter's POV in the story and I thought both of the narrators did a fantastic job.

Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for a copy of this audiobook. All opinions expressed are entirely my own.

I love books about weddings or center around them so i requested this book based off the cover. And sad it was okay. It was just an average book. With a plot thats been told over and over again. I didnt like ther hero in this story.

Sam and Carter have been best friends for 15 years and Sam is absolutely in love with him. He’s not into her though or at least this is what she thinks.
But Carter also has feelings for her, in fact he wears a rubber band to snap him out of thoughts of her. He fears losing their friendship if he lets Sam know about his feelings.
This is a friends to lovers story with added elements of wedding sabotage.
