I enjoyed this cozy mystery that kept me turning pages and guessing. The mystery is solid and I like the characters.
Not a huge fan of the narrator but once I get used I appreciated the voice and the tone.
Recommended.
Many thanks to the publisher for this arc, all opinions are mine

I did not see that coming. I thought I knew who the murderer was the whole time and was totally shocked at the twist. Also, very creepy ways to murder people. Ugh, I can't imagine what it would be like to deal with it. Overall, it's a great book with amazing characters.

Book Title: A Midsummer Night’s Scheme
Series: Bookbinding Mystery #2
Author: Harper Kincaid
Narrator: Renee Dorian
Publisher: Dreamscape Media
Genre: Cozy Mystery
Pub Date: March 21, 2023
My Rating: 4 Stars

This is the second in the ‘Bookbinding Mystery series. Feature the Quinn’s’ and their family book store in the cozy little town of Vienna, Virginia.

In this story Quinn Cane and her cousin Elizabeth ~now Sister Daria are back for more adventure.
Chad Frivole a local who is now a Broadway star is in town. When Chad was in high school he was popular but left behind a lot of broken hearts; now is dead from snake bites.
Okay I do love cozy mysteries they typically have a cute clever cat in the story ~ not snakes and spiders!
It appears Quinn’s brother Sabastian (Bash) is the next target.
Quinn and her boyfriend Detective Aiden Harrington as well as the rest of Quinn’s crew are on this case.
Whodunit was a surprise ~ I am someone who reads a lot of mysteries; I really shouldn’t have been so clueless!!

Awww I do love fun cozy mysteries. True they do follow a bit of a formula but I am okay with that.
A Cozy Mystery is considered ‘light’. No graphic sex or violence and usually takes place in a small town.
 Fun entertaining - character based
 The crime-solver is usually a woman who is well liked, had a dog or a cat, and of course, is an amateur sleuth (NOTE: No mention of snakes or spiders!)
 Love Interest ~ usually they don’t like each other at first.
 All the residence know each other and are likeable
 Mystery but no blood and gore
 Little to no profanity.

Want to thank NetGalley and Dreamscape Media for granting me this early eGalley.
Publishing Release Date scheduled for March 21, 2023

I really enjoyed this cozy mystery. Quinn and her cousin Sister Daria are investigating the murder of a Broadway star. Quinn’s brother is also being targeted by the same individual. The dual POV between Quinn and Sister Daria was interesting and unexpected for a cozy. I will be looking forward to checking out what comes next in this series.

This was a slightly different cozy mystery than I typically read. It sort of bounced perspectives between cousins Quinn and Sister Daria (Elizabeth). However, it was primarily Sister Daria's perspective. It would have been a bit easier to follow if it had been all one person's perspective or more obvious that perspective had changed. At times it changed perspective mid chapter and in audiobook format it wasn't obvious.

Quinn and her friend Sister Daria are in midst of another murder. Broadways Tony award winning local boy, Chad, returns to town to set up a new local theatre troupe. Chad’s welcome isn’t friendly by many of the female s in town who have been burned by him. One day Quinn and Sister Daria watch as Chad’s car goes out of control and once it stops many deadly snakes are discovered in the car with Chad at the drivers wheel. Aiden, Quinn’s boyfriend, starts investigating Chad’s death and an attack on Bash, Quinn’s brother.

The first couple of chapters help to set up the background of characters from the previous book. There were a couple of different stories going on at the same time, the murder, an engagement, and a possible religious quandary. Each story intersected with each other and helped to construct the characters. Overall this is a nice cozy mystery that is easy to follow and enjoy on a cold winters evening with a glass of wine.

I started listening to the book at normal speed to get a sense of their narration style. After the first chapter I sped it up to 2.0 speed. The narrator was clear and portrayed the characters well. Their voice sounded young and that helped to bring Quinn and Sister Daria to life.

This was an adorable, modern cozy mystery. I really enjoyed both of the main characters, the mystery and background story.

I think this is my first cozy with a nun (in training) who solves the mystery, but it totally worked! I also really enjoyed some of the more modern elements that you don't normally see in a cozy - a character with they/them pronouns and thoughtful discussion around religion. And there's a dog named RBG <3

I'll definitely be checking out more by Harper Kincaid!

I just love this series. Book one was an absolute favorite read of 2020 and I’ve been impatiently waiting for book two! It was worth the wait! I love these characters and the mystery was well plotted. I was convinced the killer was someone else. That cliffhanger though!! I can’t wait 3 more years for book three!!

This was definitely a cozy mystery. It was good but I felt the characters were high schoolers which they weren’t. It’s a good easy read for a weekend away.

I had been anxiously awaiting this, volume 2 of Harper Kincaid’s Bookbinding mystery series set in Vienna, Virginia. As with the first, the writing and tone are top notch, and this audio version was very well done. The performance and quality are excellent. Quinn and her cousin Sister Daria are drawn into another murder mystery in their hometown when a Broadway actor originally from Vienna gets killed in a dramatic fashion while home on a visit. Readers who read the first volume will enjoy catching up with all the returning characters, You could read this as a stand-alone without problem, but reading in order gives you more insight into Quinn, Aiden, Dash, and Daria’s lives. The mystery is well done, and the setting will be especially noteworthy to anyone who has lived near DC. The ending is a cliff in more ways than one, so I am already awaiting the next one!
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for this advance copy of the audiobook. It made an annoying drive much, much more enjoyable.

We have bookbinder Quinn Caine and her dog, Ruff Barker Ginsburg along with her cousin, Sister Daria, but she's not quite a Sister just yet because she hasn't taken the vow. They live in the small town of Vienna. This appears to be the second book in a series. I haven't read the first book yet. It starts out with Broadway star and Vienna native, Chad. He's back in town to announce plans to create a drama/music based production company/playhouse. Back in the day, he was pretty much full of himself. Yes, one of 'those' guys. It seems like he's turned over a new leaf and wants to make a difference.

Unfortunately, Chad has enemies out there. Enough to want him dead. He ends up dying when a number of rattler snakes are placed in Chad's fancy car and he becomes somehow locked in his car, unable to get out. Chad has left behind his cat, Cindy Clawford, I'm shocked when Quinn makes a comment about Chad naming his cat after Cindy Crawford. I mean, didn't she name her beloved dog RBG after you know who... Ruth Bader Ginsberg, perhaps? I thought that was the pot calling the kettle black, lol.

Then, Quinn's brother Bash begins to receive threats. Bash is newly engaged and is ready to convert to Judaism for his fiancé. Bash does have a past, but just how accountable does he need to be? He has turned his life around, after all. Bash becomes the next target when many deadly spiders are found in his bed, along with a note with compromising details about him.

And therein lies the mystery. Who done it and why? I never read the first book and now I want to. This was a very cute and cozy. Murder mystery. Kind of a little bit of slapstick comedy, maybe just a tad. This could lead to another book, the way it ended. I have to end up reading the first one, and I'm going to look forward to reading the next one, because I want to see how the future turns out for Quinn and her cousin, Daria.

I wish to thank NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
