I should have paid more attention to the genre designations rather than the author name for this one.

I love Kerrigan Byrne as a historical romance author, so picking up her contemporary romance set in a small town bookstore was an absolute no-brainer. To my horror, what I read of this book was an absolute panoply of cringey humor, overwrought references, and none of the sharp wit that I come to expect from a Byrne book. When looking back at NetGalley, I noticed that Humor & Satire is listed above Romance in the description. Had I seen that, I would have never picked this up.

Thank you to NetGalley and Oliver Heber Books for an ARC of this book in exchange for a fair and honest review!

Nevermore Bookstore is a dual POV romance featuring bookstore owner Cady and her most loyal customer the mysterious ‘Fox’.

I don’t really know where to begin with this, I just didn’t like it at all. FMC is ‘not like other girls’ and MMC should be imprisoned or executed. I was cringing almost constantly while reading because of the words and phrases the author chose. I don’t really have any feedback it just wasn’t for me.

I really loved this book, I found the characters compelling and found it was a good interpretation of a soldier with PTSD.

This book is the first in the series but each one features two new main characters. i have devoured each one as soon as they come out.

If you are looking for a new series with quirky heroines and the men who love them to fall in love with then I highly suggest giving Townsend Harbour a visit.

I will say I did think it was a paranormal romance from the cover but it's a contemporary romance. That was my own mistake but it seems from reading the reviews others had the same idea.

I received an arc of this book in exchange for an honest review all thoughts and opinions are my own.

I don't know why I waited so long to read this book but it was really good and I'm looking forward to reading the rest of the series!

Thank you NetGalley and publishers for Earc of this book. It was difficult to follow with the made up vocabulary. Okay but probably would not recommend.

You think you’re walking into a cozy hometown bookstore read. And then BAM, you’re hit with some of the cringiest smut that you were not prepared for. Add in creepy voyeurism and all faith was destroyed. The books about books got me on this one.

I really really wanted to like this book. When I first read the premise I liked the idea...but the execution left more to be desired. I could see what the authors were trying to go for - kind of a romantic comedy meets thriller (with the break in) but there were so many elements that just didn't mesh together.

For one, some of the one liners and puns were too cheesy for the moment and others hit all wrong. There were a lot of things that left me feeling more uncomfortable than anything. And if it did elicit a chuckle it was more of a coping mechanism than anything else.

This might be someone's cup of tea, but it definitely wasn't mine.

I did not enjoy this book, and couldn’t finish it, because of it.

I hated the main character, the way she was described as “not like other girls”, it was really unflattering to read, and didn’t do anything good to the story.

I expected something entirely different from the cover, because the cover is cute, but what I got was awful and cute at all.
Fox was terrible and I hated how he objectified her.

Not for me.

DNF 11% in. Wasn’t for me. Particularly referring to a male needing his “man card” to be taken away.

This book was so fun!!! I had a great time reading this one. It was quirky and fun. I enjoyed the characters and how they grew throughout the story! It was so fun to see them grow. I wanted more of the Thursday phone calls!!!
This one hadn’t been on my radar and I was in the mood to read a random book. I came across this one and was like, “okay, let’s give it a try!” I definitely recommend doing this! Because you might find something you really love.

This book was so funny! I highly recommend the audiobook, the narrators Teddy Hamilton and Stella Hunter were absolutely fantastic, and really brought the characters to life!

I definitely will be continuing to read the rest of the books in this series!

And for all the reviewers making comments about it 'being racist' - lots of people have black curly hair, not only black people. It's not racist, get over yourselves.

I couldn't tell if this was trying to be some kind of paranormal romance without anything paranormal or just plain creepy. The plot made no sense, it would have been better to have not plot. A man, in a cave, near a bookstore, calls the owner once a week to order books. In this time he forms a bond with her. She is attacked while on the phone to him, so he comes saves her, then watches her place from a well hidden spot across the street with binoculars. It reads more like a thriller than a romance.

Honestly not my favourite and found it hard to get through. I liked the characters but found the rest to be a little frustrating. Thank you for sending me a copy of the book to read even though it wasn’t fully my cup of tea!

The description drew me in. But the book, while reading, I got like light stalker vibes, which creeped me cause I thought it was supposed to be a cute light hearted romance book. Also I wanted to read more about the mystery of Cady’s bookstore.
