This book did not disappoint!!!! Reminds me of an episode of Criminal Minds. Had me guessing until the very end! Definitely 5 stars

Another great thriller by Hannah Morrissey!!! The bodies are piling up and so are the suspects! Morrissey leads you to believe only one person could possibly be the killer...but she keeps throwing more suspects into the mix.

Axel is a homicide detective and Rowan is a medical examiner, and the book begins with them investigating the murder of their teenage daughters best friend. Only, their teenage daughter, Chloe, goes missing that same night.

This was a very fun read, and I flew through it. I loved the multiple POV’s & I kept thinking I knew how it would end, but I didn’t! It honestly felt like I was reading an episode of criminal minds. I’ll most likely read the previous two books but definitely ones in the future.

Thank you to NetGalley for providing me with the ARC in exchange for an honest review.

i also wanted to note that i noticed a couple misspellings and possibly lines at the end of the chapter that weren’t meant to be there?

Thank you to NetGalley for a digital ARC of When I'm Dead. I was really excited to get a copy of this because I saw the excitement floating around InstaGram. It was promising in the beginning, but I found it boring and DNF at 40%. The writing was good, it's just that nothing happened. I did go to the end to see what happened, and was shocked at who did it and why. That being said, I wondered if there were Easter Eggs thrown in throughout because at 40% I don't even remember that character being introduced, and if not was the villian the villain for shock value? I'm not sure. There were also things I thought weren't plausible. Like allowing the detective to work the case. And I didn't feel the parents were even sad their daughter was missing. Missed the mark for me, unfortunately.

This is a well written police procedural, much better than most. A married couple in law enforcement's daughter is missing. They discover this after the body of one of her friends is found. Is she alive, is she implicated in the murders. This puts an additional strain on their relationship as they search for the daughter and for answers. I enjoyed the depth of this story and while the reveal was disturbing, it didn't feel melodramatic just for effect.

If you have red other Hannah Morrissey novels you will not be disappointed with the third book in this series.

A great addition to the Black Harbor series. I love the fact that this series are not dependent upon one another to read and understand as each of the novels are their own story of characters that become minor supporting characters in the other books. This story was good full to twists and turns and false pathways - overall a nice solid read

Deliciously bonechilling crime thriller. If you're in the market for thriller/suspense this is the perfect read to keep you on the edge of your seat and get your pulse racing.

I'm not a frequent reader of this genre at all but whenever I need a nailbiter or a Criminal Minds-esque fix this book it going to be my go to.

Huge thanks to NetGalley and Hannah Morrissey for the opportunity to read When I'm Dead.

When I'm Dead follows a married couple, who happen to be a detective and a medical examiner, as they search for their missing daughter while also dealing with two other murdered girls in their town. This thriller gripped me from the beginning and never really let go. The author kept you in the dark for a good 75% of the book, but it wasn't a bad thing at all. She let you paint your own pictures and your own theories before ultimately pulling the rug out from under you.

This is the first book I have read of Hannah Morrissey and her writing style is beautiful. She really has a way with words that become more like art and paint such beautiful pictures and feelings that plop you right down into the middle of the story.

The only thing stopping this from being a 5 star read is that I felt the pacing was a bit off or that the story was slower at some points than it needed to be. Other than this, it was a great read with an ending/resolution I feel no one would see coming.

Thank you to St. Martin's Press and Hannah Morrissey for the ARC of When I'm Dead. I had not read anything by Hannah Morrisey, and did not realize this was part of a series. With that being said, I did enjoy Morrissey's writing. When I'm Dead is a very suspenseful read that has you biting you nails in anticipation. I will definitely have to read the others in this series.

YES YES YES! I have always enjoyed Hannahs books, when I see her name I always reach for it, so I feel very lucky I was approved for this one early! Yes in fact this is the third book in this series but i feel like you could get away with passing them and jumping straight into this one. But I will say you'll want to go back and grab the first two for sure.

Rowan hears the last words her daughter, Chloe said, "You will love me more when I'm dead". After a theater performance at Chloe's school, she vanishes. Her parents, Rowan and Axel are called away on a murder investigation. Rowan is a medical examiner, Axel a detective, who team up with characters from Hannah's other books. When a young girl from Chloe's class is found dead, the parents begin to assume the worse. Is she dead somewhere? Will they find her? Every parents worse nightmare comes to life. Rowan and Axel will be tested and tried in different ways, putting them at odds with each other. Will their marriage come out of this intact?

This thriller will keep you on the edge of your seat and keep you guessing until the very end. A suspenseful murder mystery that will have you questioning almost every character. You won't want to put it down.

Thank you Netgalley and St. Marten's Press for this ARC for an honest review.

Thank you Net Galley for providing this book and allowing me to read it in advance. I was unable to personally get into this book but that is the power of reading. There’s books for everyone. I know someone else will adore it!

The Black Harbor series has become an obsession for me, as each new installment surpasses my expectations. The author has a remarkable talent for introducing fresh, complex characters who are intricately woven into the fabric of the story. With every twist and turn, the mysteries become more gripping, and my heart races with anticipation from the very first page until the stunning conclusion.

In this latest psychological thriller of the series, we are introduced to Rowan Winthrop, a city medical examiner whose life is intertwined with her husband, Alex, a detective in the BHPD. Their demanding professions have created a tight schedule, leaving little room for rest or relaxation. However, their lives take a terrifying turn when Rowan finds herself at a crime scene involving a young girl—none other than Chloe, her daughter's best friend. To Rowan's horror, she realizes that Chloe has not returned home after a school play, and the chilling realization dawns upon her that she must navigate the treacherous path of a dangerous killer while desperately searching for her own daughter's abductors. As the investigation deepens, Rowan and her husband uncover disturbing secrets about Chloe that shake the very foundation of their existence. Could it be possible that the daughter they thought they knew was nothing more than a facade?

The guessing game the author masterfully orchestrates keeps readers on the edge of their seats. Each chapter adds layers of complexity, as potential culprits emerge and suspicion shifts. The pressure intensifies, tightening its grip around us as we become more entangled in the web of the story. Just when we believe we have unraveled the truth, the climax hits with an unexpected force, leaving us in awe of the author's skillful storytelling. The jaw-dropping conclusion leaves us stunned, contemplating the profound impact of the events that unfolded.

As a devoted fan of crime thrillers, I find immense satisfaction in the intense and claustrophobic atmosphere created by the author. The realistic characterization allows us to empathize with Rowan's desperate search for her daughter and her emotional turmoil as she unearths shocking revelations. The carefully crafted pacing ensures that the narrative maintains a relentless momentum, propelling us forward with each turn of the page.

I express my deepest gratitude to NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for generously providing me with a digital review copy of this chilling thriller. It has been an absolute pleasure to delve into the world of the Black Harbor series and experience the author's exceptional storytelling. I eagerly await the opportunity to immerse myself in future installments, as my hunger for more of these enthralling tales grows stronger with each book.

3.5/5

This is book 3 of the Black Harbour chronicles but I read it as a stand alone and it could easily be such!! I realize if I’d read the first two it would probably have more character building and a better understanding of the past but it explains everything I need to know.

What I loved:
- I love the different tones and styles of writing used for all 3 POV characters. It not only helps build their character but helps separate their parts of the story so easily.
- The story leads you down so many different potential suspect paths that you think you know whodunnit and then question all of your judgment!
- It was suspenseful, unhinged, and I liked how it all came together at the end.

What I wasn’t fond of:
- At times the book felt really repetitive. At one point I was asking myself if I’d read this part already?! (Hint: I didn’t)
- When we found out who the killer was, I was shocked! Which is great, but mostly: where did this person come from? Did I miss something in the first 2 books where this person was mentioned more and didn’t just come out of the blue?

I would recommend this for people who like small town murder mysteries on more of the YA side (minus the small spicy scene that I actually really liked and fit perfectly in the story.) It’s also being published on Halloween and has awesome small town spooky vibes!

Thank you #netgalley , Hannah Morrissey and #minotaurbooks for the ARC!

Well Hannah … you did it again! Another five star review in my books. One of the reasons I love the Black Harbor series is because the storylines are like no other. When you read a lot of crime fiction or thrillers you tend to get repeat plots and that is not the case with these books. Unique and gripping I had a hard time putting this one down. Thank you @hannahmorrisseywriter and @minotaur_books and @netgalley for providing me an #advancedreaderscopy of When I‘m Dead. Run don’t walk to get your copy.

Firstly, thank you to St. Martin's Press and Hannah Morrissey for the ARC of When I'm Dead.
Hannah Morrisey is a new author to me. With that being said, I'm invested in this series now. If you're looking for an easy read then this isn't it. This murder mystery will keep you invested, guessing, and wondering what will happen next. If you're looking for a book to get lost in and Keto you busy then this is it. When I'm Dead is told from multiple pov's. I enjoy seeing both sides of the coin so to speak. I know some people hate it. A medical examiner
mystery and thriller. I have seen someone recommend for a YA but keep in mind there a some graphic murder scene and sex scenes as well. I plan on going back and reading the cutest 2 books on this series now.

l was hooked on Hannah Morrissey after her first book she was immediately added to my “instant read” / I’ll read whatever she writes list ! This is yet another dark and twisted journey that will keep you guessing and keep you on your toes ! It also highlights two FACTS I live by which I’ve shared here and also made my fear of chiropractic care worse lol “just a snap!” Aka my worse fear ! If you like dark and twisted , crime thrillers , murder mystery I would highly recommend you give the black harbor series a read
