This book is told in alternating narratives, between a girl and a horse named Trendsetter. The horse's side of the story is told as he is born and grows, while the girl's perspective is before and after she meets the horse. I think this might inspire horse-lovers who are looking for something to read in addition to the Marguerite Henry books. I didn't feel that the story had enough action to engage a reader within the first few chapters, but I also know a number of animal lovers who may enjoy this book.

The Flying Horse tells the story of a horse and a girl growing up and the events that happen to bring them together.

This was a cute and quick read. Books about horses always appealed to me as a child and they still do as an adult. I liked that this story discussed how life can be full of ups and downs and just because somethings doesn’t go as planned doesn’t mean that the alternative is bad.

My only grievance is that the writing was pretty repetitive, often times even in the same sentence.
