This book is great to read to your child when they're just starting to read and find it a bit tricky or need motivation. Even if they're reading fine, it's a great story that tells the importance of being able to read and the world it opens to readers.

This book is really cute and I’ll definitely be gifting it to my niece. A great story and adorable art. I like that Bear was welcomed by the librarian and got to keep his bike!

Books Aren't for Bears was a cute and simple picture book but I found it missing a bigger picture. How did the bear know how to read if this was his first time coming across a book? I found it funny that anytime he was interested in a book and it was almost in grasp that it was about bears, forests, or honey. I guess the moral I'm taking out of this is that librarians are inherently good and are a much needed space for the public.

Books Aren’t for Bears is the perfect book for any new reader! It shares the excitement of books and for a love of reading. The illustrations are adorable and overall this would be perfect to read to a classroom!

This book is about a bear who finds a book in the forest learns to read and then needs more books in his life so he goes to the city to find some. It is a cute book with great illustrations and colors that will capture a childs attention. As a librarian, I loved that it teaches reading is for everyone, even bears!

This book was just too adorable! I just loved it! From the illustrations for the most part to the story to so much about this book, it was just so much fun. Would highly recommend!

This book is so lovely. Between the illustrations and the main character this book is the most adorable. I personally loved that the librarian is the one to drive home the theme - books and reading are for everyone.

This was such a cute story! It did remind me of another book, Bears Don’t Read, but this one was a little happier and more simple which I think is perfect for kids! I’d absolutely get this for our home library!

Books Aren’t for Bears was a cute story with a great message that reading and libraries are for everyone. The characters were lovable and there were clever jokes about the obliviousness of grown ups. My kids loved the story, predicting what happened next with great delight and enthusiasm. A sweet story about literacy and libraries.

Who could resist an adorable story with the always important message: reading is for everyone! With a nod to the heroics of librarians and a dash of a tale of perseverance, this book hits so many high notes.

I will say, for me and for my young son’s limited attention span, the story does suffer from the bicycle tangent. I didn’t appreciate the ‘finders-keepers’ messaging (mostly because it didn’t serve a purpose, or possibly the purpose just eludes me) and the middle of the story sagged a bit so my son lost interest. I suspect it was a mechanism to get from point A (forest) to point B (city) but I didn’t find it necessary, or that it added to the overall story in any way.

That said, the illustrations are charming and I was able to lure my child back to at least continue looking at the pictures!

A bit short and simplistic. Art and story aren’t really anything to write home about and the tale goes as you might imagine.

I love picture books about books and reading. This is a celebration of libraries and readers. It's a lovely story to highlight that reading is for everyone, even bears.

I read this book to my 7-year-old daughter, and she could not stop giggling! She thought it was so silly that no one wanted poor bear to read! Not only does this story show that books truly ARE for everyone, but it gives a message to young readers to be kind and accepting.


I also loved the illustrations. The artist did an excellent job bringing the words on the page to life.

Perfect book to instill a reading habit in your kids. If your child is already a nature person with an attraction towards animals, they will surely find a home with the beautiful animals of this book.

Apart from this, the author brings out the importance of libraries in our society and how wonderful they can be in providing quality books and reading spaces. I believe this is a story about identity, and shows children how to stand up for their wishes and go beyond societal norms.

This is such a sweet book! Bear finds a book and learns how to read..he decides he wants to read many more books and goes to find them. After some hardship, he meets a lovely librarian who invites him in because reading is for all. Cue the tears.

I am a huge proponent of the library system. I used it as a child of little means and now take my daughter weekly. Get this book for your little reader!!
