Such a cute story with perfect illustrations. My son asks for this book every single night. It’s easy to follow along with for kids.

This book was absolutely adorable. If I had seen this in a bookstore it would have been an auto buy for my kids. This will resonate with many, especially for kids who grew up thinking that they weren't welcome in certain places, yet always found solace and a welcome space at the library. I didn't expect to find a deeper meaning in this book, but it can teach a deep lesson for those who are listening. Five stars.

This is a cute book for the preschool age. Bears are always loved! I love the message that books are for everyone. The line about adults not noticing anything seemed very out of place and odd.

The illustrations are quite lovely.

Thank you to the author, the publisher, and NetGalley for an advanced digital copy in exchange for my honest review!

Books Aren't for Bears is intended for children ages 4-7. I enjoyed this book and the artwork. I would recommend removing the page about how adults don't seem to care or notice things that children do.

This is a very sweet story about a bear who loves to read. He is turned away by many people on his journey to find more books. But the library is welcoming to him, as they usually are to everyone.

Bear's life changes when he finds a book and learns to read. When he travels to the city in hopes of finding more books to read, he's disappointed to be told no over and over again. After being turned down many times, Bear ends up at a beautiful and welcoming library.
A sweet book for young readers. Kids will love the bright illustrations, the positive message, and the adorable book-loving bear!

Very cute! Our store loves books about books. As a bookseller, however, I wish he wasn’t kicked out of the book shop!

This was a lighthearted look at who is welcome in which spaces, using a bear as the agent. The bear tries to look at books in school and a bookstore, but ultimately is turned away. Finally he seeks out a library, and a friendly librarian welcomes him in. He checks out his books and shares with others.

Books Aren't for Bears is a delightful children's book written by Mark Barry and illustrated by Hannah Peck. The story follows a bear who discovers a book in the forest and is initially confused by its purpose. However, with the help of his animal friends, the bear learns to read and discovers the joy of books.

One of the strengths of this book is the way it introduces the idea of reading to young children in a fun and engaging way. The story is simple and easy to follow, making it perfect for children who are just starting to explore the world of books. The illustrations are also bright and colorful, adding to the book's overall charm.

Another great aspect of Books Aren't for Bears is the way it emphasizes the importance of friendship and learning from others. The bear's animal friends play a key role in helping him discover the joys of reading, and their support and encouragement are heartwarming.

Overall, I highly recommend Books Aren't for Bears for parents and educators looking for a fun and engaging way to introduce young children to the joys of reading. The book's simple yet effective message about the power of books and the importance of learning from others is sure to resonate with both children and adults alike.

Bright and playful illustrations and an even more playful story will draw kids into the world of Bear. The story also helps kids deal with being brave, nervous, and above all finding a love of reading. The librarian shows Bear that books and reading are for everyone and reading should be celebrated!

My sons and I ready this together and it was an absolute hit! The colourful illustrations, text placement and story were sensational. As a family of avid readers we always talk about the message that reading is for everyone, this rung loud and clear with both boys picking that line out of the story. I adored that the book focused on the cosiness and accessibility of the library- we thoroughly enjoyed making our own connections to our own visits to the library after reading! 5 stars

This book is so cute! My boys are 5 & 7 and they both liked this book. The cover grabbed their attention, the illustrations helped tell the story, and we were excited to see what would happen to our new friend after he found a book. I love the conclusion to this story and the sweet message that comes with it. Thank you for letting us take this journey with bear as my children discover their own love of reading.

Thank you Netgalley for providing me with an advance copy of this Children's book oin exchange for an honest review.

Bear is happily living in the forest amongst his forest friends and delicious snacks, he wonders how life could ever get any better. Then one day, he finds a book, and that bear is HOOKED! With help from his friends, bear learns how to read and there begins his journey into the wonderful world of books. Bear can't seem to get enough, but he doesn't know when or where he will find another book like it. In the search for books, bear finds himself at a library where he realizes all are welcome inside, no matter who you are, where he learns that reading is for everyone.

What a beautiful book to get children excited about reading and using their public library. We can relate their early experiences with reading and book discovery to that of bears, asking kids about the first book they remember reading or which books get them the most excited to read. The illustrations are fun, bright and engaging, and the text is the perfect length for children aged 4-7. This book also introduces the library formula of borrowing a book and returning it in a time frame in exchange for the privelege of taking home more books. There is a huge emphasis on books being for everyone, no matter who you are.

I had a lot of fun reading this book, I believe it will make for a great storytime for children, especially for those working with children in a library setting.

What a sweet book!

This book could teach little ones that books are for everyone. The illustrations were nice. It could be read during my mammals theme. We could use it as a compare/contrast chart by listing all the things/places Bear traveled and all the info we know about how real bears do.

This was such a cute children's story with a good message. The illustrations were very well done. I like that it promotes visiting the library for books. I read this to my stepdaughter and we are in the phase where we are always going to the book store so I think this was such good timing to read something about how libraries are inclusive of everyone.
