this was such a great reinvention of Cinderella, it had what I enjoyed from the original tale and it had a unique feel to it. The characters were what I was expecting and it worked well with the story, I enjoyed how good everything was and how well everything flowed. Lee Renwick Steele has a great writing style and I can't wait to read more from them.

"When I had a straight shot at the stable exit, I yelled, “Now.” The look of shock that crossed his face filled me with immense enjoyment as I sprinted away from the tack room. He recovered quickly. After hearing a few oaths and a bit of crashing about behind me, I heard the firm pounding of his running stride on the stable floor. I dashed from the stable into the warm sunlight with my arms pumping, my skirt flapping against my legs, and my heart glowing with confidence."

The characters are epic, the world-building sublime, the narration sucks you in, and the writing the best I’ve seen.

The story/plot grabs you from the first page. I hadn’t read ten pages before I was all in on the story. The plot is original yet familiar. I liked the author’s twist on the fairy tale.

The world-building is epic with some amazing techniques. Everyone who reads fantasy will see something to like in this story. The author creates a world based in reality but seeped in magic. My fantasy heart loved every moment reading. I honestly didn’t want to stop reading.

The characters are relevant, colorful, and distinct. I especially liked Griselda. Poor girl, she’s been through such a rotten time. But she manages to overcome it all. Her strength is what I adored most.
